The Effects of Social Welfare Agency's Supervision Support System on Supervision Competence (슈퍼비전 지지체계가 슈퍼비전 역량에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examines the supervision competence of supervisor from the comparative perspective of supervisor and supervisee, and investigates the effects of organizational factors on supervisor's supervision competence. For this purpose, data collected from 241 workers at social welfare agencies in Gyeonggi-do were analyzed through t-test and hierarchical regression analysis. The major results of data analysis are as follows. First, supervisors are more positive than supervisees in terms of supervision competence. Second, there is a statistically significant difference between two groups in supervision knowledge and qualities among the subfields of supervision competence. Third, in the case of supervisors, the younger the age and the higher the education level, the more positively they perceive their supervision competence, and agency's supervision support explains supervision competence at the level of △R2 = .305 at p> .001. Finally, based on the results of this study, the directions for strengthening the supervision competence were suggested.

Effect of Supervision Characteristics of Social Work Practicum on the Student's Career Development (사회복지현장실습 슈퍼비전 특성이 전공생의 진로발달에 미치는 영향)

  • From the social work practicum, social welfare major students learn practical works in the field and cultivates professional ability. Furthermore, he tries to find his fitness and own qualification as a social worker. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of supervision characteristics of social work practicum on the social welfare major student's career development. For the research, a survey of 212 students having had experience of social work practicum was conducted. The major findings in this study were as follows; Most of supervisors were female, the frequency of the supervision were regular, and supervision was offered mainly in the form of group or group and individual mixed. Students evaluated the relationship between supervisors and student was 3.20/4, supervision satisfaction measurement was 3.03/4, and students showed low level of career identity(5.80/12). By the hierarchical multiple regression, career identity was mostly affected by supervision characteristics, relationship between supervisors and student, and supervision satisfaction. This study finally discussed theoretical implications for future study and practical implications for career identity strategies on the results.

The Relationship between Supervision and Job Burnout of Workers in Leisure Welfare Centers for the Elderly: Mediation Effect of Self-efficacy (노인여가복지시설 종사자의 슈퍼비전과 직무소진의 관계에서 자아효능감의 매개효과)

  • This study verified the influence of supervision on job burnout and mediating effect of self-efficacy of workers in leisure welfare centers for the elderly. A survey of 275 employees of 15 facilities of Daejeon and Chungnam area was conducted. Main analysis methods are confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model analysis. The analysis result is that supervision influences job burnout and mediating effect of self-efficacy is proved. Considering the analysis result, some countermeasures can be proposed to alleviate the job burnout. For improving the supervision of workers, the strengthening of educational and evaluational supervision, the provision of education and training for supervisors and individualized supervision, and the inclusion of supervision in facility evaluation are necessary. To improve employees' self-efficacy, it is necessary to provide capacity-building programs and emotional support services, education and administrative support for improving ethical awareness, and self-leadership.

Knowledge and Skill Competence of Supervisor (슈퍼바이저의 지식 및 기술 역량 연구 -IPA분석을 통한 사회복지관, 장애인복지관, 노인복지관 비교-)

  • The purpose of this research is to compare the importance and performance of the supervisor competence according to the social welfare center, rehabilitation center for the disabled types. Accordingly, it is suggested to propose implementation strategy to improve supervisor's competency. There were statistically significant differences in the importance and performance of the 14 knowledge competencies(t=30.545, p<.001) and 15 skill competencies(t=27.335, p<.001) required for the supervisor. As the result of IPA analysis, there was a difference by each type of welfare center in the distribution of four areas(Concentrate here, Keep up the good work, Low Priority, Possible Overkill) and accordingly, the implementation strategy was presented and discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a suggestion to improve speciality and job performance of social work case management using importance-performance-analysis(IPA). A quantitative research design was used and data were collected from 209 social workers who are in charge of case manager job at Ulsan metropolitan area. Study participants were asked the recognition of importance-job competence and need for supervision-experience of social work case management job description on the NCS(9 competency units, 33 competency units). Descriptive analysis and IPA were performed. This study found the need for intensified job competence of 'building external operating systems' and 'development of resource linkage systems'. Also, it is necessary to provide intensive supervision for 'building an external and internal operating system.' Based on the results, future direction of intensified job performance for socla work case management was discussed.

A Study on Awareness of Cultural Welfare Worker on Empowerment (문화복지 실천가의 역량강화 인식에 대한 연구)

  • This study profoundly analyzed cultural welfare workers to find out how they command a strategy of empowerment according to types of action. The analysis result shows that cultural welfare workers perceive cultural welfare as an unstable human service job. Activity types of cultural welfare workers can largely be categorized into professional workers and vocational workers, and they are two extremes and continuum at the same time. On this account, a strategy of empowerment depends on types of action conducted by cultural welfare workers. There are accelerative elements that boost empowerment strategies positively and there are impediment elements that work adversely. These cultural welfare workers are making suggestion to prepare an official requirement for them to be acknowledged as a specialized worker and to increase various types of educational spectrum to meet their level. This study has significance for providing basic data for education, supervision, and policy for training human resources in future.

Considerations for Implementing Online Art-Based Peer Supervision (온라인 미술기반 동료 슈퍼비전 실행에 대한 고려사항)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose considerations to help actual application based on the characteristics of the online art-based peer supervision execution process. Colleagues in the clinical art therapy doctoral program, including the researcher, attempted to repeatedly identify problems and apply improvements in the implementation process as research participants, and qualitatively analyzed the various data collected in the process. Looking at the characteristics of the analysis results, extensibility of materials and space was confirmed in terms of 'art-based' and initiative, convenience, and speed in terms of 'online'. The considerations identified through this are as follows. First, 'pre-structuring' should be based on clear boundaries and setting, prior consultation of the group, and self-directed preparation and attitude. Second, for the 'structural aspect of art', space and media to help immersion through creation, and stable implementation structure should be established. Third, in the 'technical aspect', it is necessary to apply a method that can deliver a work of art and a method that can communicate the creator's clear intention. Lastly, for the 'ethical aspect', it is necessary to use online software in accordance with the minimum security standards and to make efforts to repeatedly maintain confidentiality. This study is meaningful in that it suggested a practical method for maintaining the professional competence of art therapists and expanding networks among art therapists in various situations including pandemics.

The Korean Social Workers' Burn-out Factors and Personal Traits in the Hospice and Palliative Care (호스피스.완화의료에 개입하는 사회복지사의 소진과 보호요인에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: This study investigated the Korean social workers’ burn-out factors and personal traits in hospice and palliative care field, and also examined the effect and correlation between their professionality, social support and supervision. Methods: Data (N=46) from 46 social workers working at hospice and palliative care field were collected, and the data were analyzed for the inferential statistics using t-test, ANOVA, correlation and multiple regression with the SPSS 12.0 program. Results: General factors of the burn-out were age and work experience. The effect of the organization environment is greatly dependant on social support and supervision, and the burn-out were protected when workers got an emotional support from their family. For the workers with supervision, the less negative feeling, the better for the burn-out protection. Furthermore, the low burn-out was thought about when professional organization, self regulation, job vocation and autonomy were utilized. Regression analysis needed that the burn-out were protected well when individual autonomy among expertise was guaranteed. As for social support, vertical support was able to protect physical burn-out. Conclusion: The training program for social workers in hospices and palliative care field is essential to reduce and prevent the burn-out. Hospice should be more activated and a training program with up-to-date knowledge and information should be adopted.

The Case Study on Informal Learning in the Workplace for Social Workers -Based on Social Welfare Centers in Jeju- (사회복지사의 일터에서 나타난 무형식학습 사례연구 -제주지역 종합사회복지관을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze informal learning cases including learning work and being skillful of social workers in the workplace. In addition, it is to examine the promotion plan of informal learning to reinforce competences of social workers in the development of human resources and managemental way. This is a qualitative case study that was involved 20 social workers working in social welfare centers in Jeju. Face to face in-depth interviews were used for collected data. Nvivo10, qualitative data analysis program, was used for analyzing data. According to the findings, the most normal informal learning method in their workplace was to get feedback from the boss including adapting the system of a workplace senior, participating in the meetings, reviewing various media and etc. In addition, feedback from the boss and contacting with acquaintances were used the most as the informal learning method in the learning work and being skillful process of social workers and focused on communication with human resources. Therefore, social welfare centers need to create working environments to promote informal activities such as supporting individual learning, informal meetings, mentoring, supervision, interacting with colleagues and etc as well as supporting institutional formal learning including refresher training to reinforce the capabilities for social workers.

Effect on the Burnout of Nursing Care Workers (요양보호사의 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to understand the effects of job stress, empowerment, and organizational commitment of nursing care workers on burnout For this study, nursing care workers working at long-term care institutions in Gwangju and Jeonnam were conducted. As a result of the study, it was found that excessive role, role conflict, and role ambiguity perceived by nursing care workers had a positive effect on burnout. Individual competencies, job relationship competencies, and organizational environment competencies were found to negatively affect burnout. In addition, it was found that emotional and normative commitment negatively affected burnout, and continuous commitment had a positive effect. Overall, it was found that job stress, empowerment, and organizational commitment had an effect on burnout in order. Based on the results of these studies, it is necessary to establish a fair personnel management system, such as assigning roles appropriate to the nursing care worker's ability and aptitude, selecting, placing, and evaluating targets. It is necessary to create a systematic work environment such as training and provision of supervision. In addition, nursing care workers should relieve stress that occurs in the process of performing their duties, and provide an appropriate rest area for leisure to facilitate work.
