The purpose of the study is to analyze the influence of the accomplishing pressure of teachers and parents on academic achievement in mathematics in accordance with the differences in the degree of intrinsic motivation in mathematics. The accomplishing pressure of teachers was meaningful on the academic achievement in mathematics in the analysis including the interaction of intrinsic motivation in mathematics. The students with high degree of intrinsic motivation were influenced in a negative manner. Meanwhile the students with middle or low degree of intrinsic motivation were influenced in a positive manner. The result implies that it is more important to consider the level of mathematical intrinsic motivation, when teachers accomplish an achievement pressure to improve academic achievement in mathematics. On the analysis including the interaction of intrinsic motivation of mathematics, the accomplishing pressure of parents showed positive effect in general on the academic achievement in mathematics. The students with high or middle degree of intrinsic motivation were highly influenced in a positive manner than the students with low degree of intrinsic motivation. The result implies the necessity of the implementation of continuous accomplishing pressure on students as the high degree of accomplishing pressure of parents leads to positive influence on the academic achievement in mathematics.
The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of parent's accomplishment pressure and career guidance on children's career development. The subjects in this study were 59 six-graders in an elementary school. Added to this, this study was to understand the course of elementary school children's career development. For the study, research questions on influence of parent's accomplishment pressure and career guidance on children's career development were set up. The study showed three findings. First, there was significant correlations between parent's accomplishment pressure, and career guidance and children's career development. Parent's accomplishment pressure showed a positive correlation with career development and career guidance had a significant correlation with children's career development. The sub factors of career guidance, except for emotional support, were also significantly correlated with the sub factors of children's career development. Second, Parent's accomplishment pressure didn't show significant effect on fitness of career choice, sex-prejudice and pride, but showed significant effects on total career development, career directivity, career comprehension, self-comprehension and self- control. Third, parent's career guidance showed additional impact on children's career development. But emotional support, which is the sub-fact of career guidance, had no correlation with career development.
The present study aimed to examine the mediation effect of identity development between perceived parental academic achievement pressure (PPAAP) and mental health. Specifically, we examined whether the relation between PPAAP and mental health is mediated by the positive or negative aspects of identity development. Participants were 110 Korean college students. They completed online self-report questionnaires that included PPAAP, identity development, personal well-being, and depression. We found that PPAAP was negatively related to personal well-being and positively related to depression. Moreover, the relation between PPAAP and mental health was mediated only by the negative aspects of identity development. In other words, PPAAP was related to the negative aspects of identity development, which, in turn, was negatively associated with mental health. This study contributes to the literature in that it proposed identity development as a mediator between PPAAP and mental health and found that the negative, not positive, aspects of identity development mediated the relation. We suggest that institutional interventions that help develop identity can be an effective way to mitigate the negative impacts of PPAAP on mental health of children living in the highly competitive Korean society. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the structural relationships, direct and indirect effects between children's academic stress, peer attachment, parental achievement pressure and career maturity. This study uses panel data from a total of 1,357 elementary school students who participated in the 13th Child Panel Study of the Korea Child Care Policy Institute. The data were analysed using SPSS 24 and AMOS 24.0 programs. The results showed that children's academic stress was negatively related to peer attachment, positively related to parental achievement pressure, and negatively related to career maturity. Each variable was found to have a direct effect, and academic stress had an indirect effect on career maturity through the mediation of peer attachment and parental achievement pressure. In conclusion, it is recommended that school social work support that considers the causal relationship of all variables is necessary to improve children's career maturity.

The aim of this study was to validate the influence from academic stress caused by the achievement pressure of their parents and the adjustment effect of self-differentiation. The data was collected from 257 students from the 19th of May, 2014 to the 30th of May, 2014 for freshmen and sophomores of a college in the Kyoungbook region to validate the study. The SPSS/PC 18.0 program was used for the statistical analysis. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed more less influence of academic stress caused by the achievement pressure((${\beta}=.111$, p<0.05) of their parents but there was no reasonable value in validating the adjustment effect to reduce the academic stress by self-differentiation, i.e., it should be a non-linear and complex effect rather than a simple linear relationship for self-differentiation.
This study examines longitudinally influences that parents have on their children's academic achievement and the mediating role of various psychological factors. In terms of parents-child relationship, the following variables are examined: Social support from parents, achievement pressure, parental expectation, sense of indebtedness to parents, and respect for parents. For adolescents functioning, the following variables are examined: Efficacy for self-regulated learning, achievement motivation, studying time, and academic achievement. In the first phase of the longitudinal study, a total of 961 Grade 6 students completed a questionnaire. In the second phrase, a total of 856 students completed a questionnaire when they were Grade 7. In the third phrase, a total of 830 students completed a questionnaire when they were Grade 9. In the third phase, a matched sample of 722 fathers and 767 mothers of the adolescents completed a questionnaire. From the sample, 694 matched sample of adolescents, mothers, and fathers have been selected for the following analysis. The results of the path analysis indicate that adolescents' past academic grade was the most powerful predictor of adolescents' current academic achievement. Second, a sense of indebtedness felt towards the parents increased adolescents' achievement motivation, which increased their studying time and which in turn positively affected their academic achievement. Third, adolescents' respect for their parents increased their efficacy for self-regulated learning, which had a positive effect on their academic achievement. Fourth, parental social support increased adolescents' efficacy for self-regulated learning and parental achievement pressure increased adolescents' achievement motivation. Fifth, parental expectation had positive influence on adolescents' academic achievement. Sixth, efficacy for self-regulated learning had direct positive influence on academic achievement. These results indicate that the past achievement is the most important predictor of adolescents' current academic achievement and parent-child relationship and efficacy for self-regulated learning are also important variables that influence adolescents' achievement.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parenting attitude and child development. For this purpose, a survey was conducted to parents and children who visited child development centers and child-related welfare institutions located in Seoul and the Seoul metropolitan area. Total 230 pieces of survey papers were prepared, and 183 of them - except for 47 copies which were judged to be unreliable were used for the test analysis. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 18.0 and descriptive statistical analysis was performed to analyze general characteristics of the subjects. In order to analyze the parenting attitude and developmental relationship of the children, the regression analysis was performed. Parents' parenting attitude - especially pressure and excessive expectation were found to have an effect on self-ridicule behaviors of children, and supervision and excessive expectation were found in small muscle exercise. Achievement pressure and excessive expectation were also the main variables in expression language and language understanding. Achievement pressure, director and excessive expectation were found to have effects on children's cognitive development.
This study attempted to examine the influences of achievement pressure from parents and the discrepancy of real self and ideal self on the academic achievement motivation among adolescents. To achieve the purpose of this study, a survey was conducted among 1140 students including 559 middle school students in second grade and 581 high school students in second grade in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The results of the study showed that male students were more effected by the achievement pressure from parents than female students and the ideal discrepancy of self-discrepancies had a greate effects on academic achievement motivation regardless of gender. In conclusion, higher achievement pressure and lower ideal discrepancy represented higher academic achievement motivation.
This Study focused on understanding the relationship between the child ren's thinking ability which is based on the genius and the parenting attitude according to their level of age. There were 401subjects including mothers and their children who lived in Seoul city ages from four to six. The Raven CPM testing method for children and the parenting attitude test were used as research tools. Subcategories of the parenting attitude test consisted of the supportive expression, the rational explanation, the achievement press, high involvement, punishment, superintendence, high expectation, and inconsequence. Results showed that by age four children's thinking abilities were affected by the rational explanation, the achievement press, punishment, and superintendence. At age five, the supportive expression and superintendence were important factors to the thinking ability. By age six children were affected by the supportive expression, the rational explanation, punishment and high expectation. It was also discussed the positive or negative effects of the parenting attitude sub-scales to the development of the thinking ability. These results showed the parenting attitudes need to be changed according to the child's age for getting more resonable results to their children's thinking ability.
This article examines psychological factors that contribute to educational achievement of Korean adolescents. By reviewing empirical research, three core areas are outlined. First, positive and negative roles that Korean society play on academic achievement are analyzed. Compared to other countries, Korean society places a high premium, pressure an investment on educational achievement. This has contributed to the rapid economic growth and development, but at the same time it has created numerous social problems. Second, psychological and relational dynamics of investing in and achieving success in education are delineated. Through indigenous psychological analysis, the role parents play in motivating and regulating their children to succeed academically is reviewed. In addition, the role of teachers and friends and the coordinated efforts of Korean society are outlined. Third, future directions and transformations in education that are needed in Korean society are discussed. Although Korean adolescents are high achievers in high school, this is not the case at the university level. Since Korean students are interested in entering a prestigious university, they have developed skills in doing well in standardized tests. Educational reforms need to take into consideration individuals' personal interests, skills and creativity to ensure that the knowledge that they acquired can be used to further their career and improve their subjective well-being. Educational transformation does not imply simply adopting Western models, but developing indigenous models that can maximize human and cultural potential and stimulate curiosity, diversity and creativity that are necessary in the global era.
