  • In this paper, questions from the last three years' appointment examinations for secondary teachers for informatics computer subjects are classified in a way to fit thirteen basic mandatory courses, for which the composition of scores and the number of questions tested were examined. Of these thirteen basic mandatory courses, questions from six basic mandatory courses with high frequency of assessment were analyzed on their score composition based on the evaluation area. In addition, questions testing knowledge in C language were analyzed separately. The results show scores for the curriculum content subjects ranged from 0% to 17.1%, and the ratio of questions tested from curriculum content subjects 0% to 15.8%. In addition, questions from three courses showed a large deviation in scores for each year. Second, the score composition based on the evaluation area showed a large discrepancy, ranging from 0% to 52.0%. Lastly, the questions tested on the C language exhibited high score on average at 33%. Based on the results from the analysis, this study proposed plans to improve ways to evaluate test takers' aptitude.

  • The purpose of this study is to review and draw lessons from the case of Family and Consumer Sciences(FCS) curriculums in Ohio and to provide implications to the designing of HE elective courses for high schools in Korea. For this, 19 curriculum documents that are available from the website of the Ohio Ministry of Education were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the following conclusions were drawn: First, following the example of the Ohio Pathway which was developed in consideration of the characteristics of the field, college admission, student's interests, and the societal change, it is recommended that Korean HE curriculum consider developing HE Pathway that reflects the characteristics of Korean HE education system. Second, Ohio's FCS curriculum offers a well-structured system consisting of total 18 courses and contents within the four broad FCS Pathway themes. Thus, it is suggested that the Korean Home Economics Education Association organize a task force to develop 'HE Pathways'-'College majors'-'Elective career focused courses', and student-centered career exploratory elective courses focusing on the students' needs. Third, it is necessary for HE teachers and professors to newly develop basic elective courses which lays the foundation for understanding of Home Economics and help students to follow advanced HE elective courses. Lastly, there is a need for designing career-focused elective courses that can provide practical resources for the college admission process by interviewing college admission officers, education specialists, career counselors, college admission specialists, home economic professors and teachers.

  • Currently gifted education aims for convergent gifted education according to government policy. The purpose of this paper is to investigate correlation of information subject and science subject(physics, chemistry, biology, and geology) for the gifted children in IT. For this purpose, the gifted children in IT who attended a gifted science education center attached to a university at Seoul Metropolitan Area are selected. Their grades during their the period of attendance are collected and analysed. The statistical results show that there is a meaningful correlation between information subject and biology subject for the gifted children in IT. It means that the higher scores information subject is, the higher scores biology subject is. The results can be used to make or change gifted curriculum and education contents for gifted IT education.

  • To get an undergraduate degree from mathematics education department, a student not only take a general educational technology course from education department, but also take an educational technology in mathematics education course from mathematics education department. We believe that these two courses can be integrated for preparing better mathematics teachers. For this purpose, we design an educational technology tool called JavaMAL microworld, and study strategy to integrate two courses harmoniously. This kind of approach is good for internationalization of researches on mathematics education by Korean researchers since most SSCI journal prefer an integrated approach in the educational technology related papers. In short, integrating general educational technology course and educational technology in mathematics education course is not only good to student but to professors. But just integrating two courses is not enough. Students must understand the needs and the usefulness of educational technology tool in the learning and teaching of mathematics, and must have such experience from their mathematics courses.

  • This study seeks to develop a curriculum operating model for Korean Library and Information Science, based on investigations into LIS curricula at home and abroad. Standard courses that can be applied to this model were also proposed. This study comprehensively analyzed the contents of domestic and foreign curricula and surveyed current librarians in all types of library fields. As a result, this study proposed required courses, core courses, and elective courses. Six required LIS courses are: Introduction to Library and Information Science, Information Organization, Information Services, Library and Information Center Management, Information Retrieval, and Field Work. Six core LIS courses are: Classification & Cataloging Practice, Subject Information Resources, Collection Development, Digital Library, Introduction to Bibliography, and Introduction to Archive Management. Twenty selective LIS courses include: the General Library and Information Science area (Cultural History of Information, Information Society and Library, Library and Copyright, Research Methods in Library and Information Science), the Information Organization area (Metadata Fundamentals, KORMARC Practice), the Information Services area (Information Literacy Instruction, Reading Guidance, Information User Study), the Library and Information Center Management area (Library Management, including management for different kinds of libraries, Library Information Cooperator, Library Marketing, Non-book Material and Multimedia Management (Contents Management), the Information Science area (Database Management, including Web DB Management, Indexing and Abstracting, Introduction to Information Science, Understanding Information Science, Automated System of Library, Library Information Network), and the Archival Science area (Preservation Management).

The results showed as follows. First, students perceived positively regarding AP program and were willing to take AP courses because of interesting and challenging in academic area which is provided by AP courses. Secondly, many students would like to take AP courses in Differential and Integral Calculus 1, General Physics I, General Chemistry I and General Biology. Also, they would like to take AP courses in first term as a mandatory subjects. Third, responses perceived that AP courses were challenging, difficult, and of high quality. Finally, students perceived the benefit of AP courses in earing college credit. However, 35% of responses wished to receive an exemption for all AP courses. Also, they wished to have dual-major or participate in students exchange program as a benefit of AP program. Implications of the study were discussed in depth based on the results.
