Vibration Analysis of the Sandwich Plates with very thin faces (얇은 면재를 갖는 샌드위치 평판의 진동해석)

  • Sandwich plate is consisted of equal two isotropic, thin, stiff and strong sheets of dense material separated symmetrically by an isotropic thick layer which may be much less stiff and strong. This study analyzed the dependency of the natural frequencies and mode shapes of sandwich plates on material properties, thicknesses of faces and cores, and various boundary conditions using Rayleigh-Ritz method. E-glass Woven Roving and another two kinds of materials were selected as a face, P.V.C. and another kinds of materials were selected as a core. Natural frequencies and mode shapes obtained by Rayleigh-Ritz method were compared with F.E.M. solutions using ADINA program.

Moving Load Analysis of Bridge Structures Using Experimental Modal Data (실험적 모우드 계수를 이용한 교량의 주행하중 해석)

  • This paper proposed a technique of structural re-analysis for the evaluation of dynamic responses of bridge structure under moving loads using experimental modal results. For successful structural re-analysis, it is required to have accurate estimation techniques of the modal characteristics of bridge structures. The natural frequencies and mode shapes were identified by direct fourier analysis techniques and damping ratios by the random decrement method, respectively. An interpolation method was also proposed for the extension of mode shape measured on limited DOFs. Second, the structural reanalysis was performed using moving mass model and identified modal parameters. The results from the reanalysis show that the proposed technique is very reasonable to evaluate the actual behavior of bridge structures under moving loads.

  • 본 연구에서는 스티프너를 이용한 열린 상자형 구조물의 구조변경법에 대하여 고찰해 보았고, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 감도해석법을 이용하여 고유진동수 감도를 쉽게 구할 수 있었고 구해진 고유진동수 감도를 이용하여 변경할 위치를 결정할 수 있었다. 2. 최적구조변경법에 의해 변경량을 정량적으로 구할 수 있었고, 고유진동수를 목표한 값으로 바꿀 수 있었다. 3. 기둥을 이용한 구조변경에서 문제시 되었던 동위상의 고유진동모우드에 대해서도 효과적으로 고유진동수를 변경할 수 있었다. 스티프너는 설치위치에 대허여 비교적 제약을 받지 않으므로 구조물의 동특성 변경에 효과적일 것으로 생각된다. 그리고 구조변경을 더욱 효율적으로 수행하기 위해서는 구조물의 치수, 형상, 재료 등의 종합적인 설계변수를 고려하는 감도해석과 이를 바탕으로 하는 최적구조변경이 필요할 것이다.

An analysis of the Sound Radiation Characteristics of the King Song-Dok Bell Using Cylindrical Acoustic Holography (원통형 음향 홀로그라피를 이용한 성덕대왕 신종의 방사음장 특성 분석)

  • In order to investigate the radiation of sound from the King Song-Duk bell, we measured the sound pressure around the bell at every 30$^{\circ}$ using a microphone line array which was composed of 30 microphones separated by 15cm;total number of measurement point was 360. The sound field was estimated by using cylindrical acoustic holography. The spectrum of measured sound pressure demonstrates that it is almost like white noise in the very beginning, but in 10 seconds two close frequency components(64.06Hz, 64.38Hz) remain and make a famous beating. This beating sound is often believed to make unique sound of the King Song-Duk bell. The mode shapes of that frequency components are the same except that one is rotated by 45$^{\circ}$ from the other. This phenomenon occurs at the other pairs of components are the same except ones in very high frequency range where the mode shapes are rather complex.

  • This paper presents a modal solution of linear three-dimensional hydrodynamic equations using similarity transform technique. The solution over the vertical space domain is obtained using the Galerkin method with linear shape funtions (Galerkin-FEM model). Application of similarity transform to resulting tri-diagonal matrix equations gives rise 掠 a set of uncoupled partial differential equations of which the unknowns are coefficients of mode shape vectors.   • For the numerical analysis of free oscillation characteristics in a harbor with general boundary and bottom topography, finite element method is applied. The governing Helmholtz equation is transformed into a generalized matrix eigenvalue problem using the standard finite element procedure. A computer code is developed for the numerical evaluation of natural frequencies and free oscillation modes. In the eigensolution process, a shifting strategy is devised for the treatment of numerical singularity. Scaling of coefficient matrix is also found to be effective for the alleviation of numerical ill-conditioning. For the test problems, firstly, analytical and numerical solutions are compared and validity of the code is obtained. Hence the method is successfully applicable for the real-world problems with general geometric boundaries and bottom topography.

  • A new and efficient method is presented to evaluate contact force and motion of an electric railway simple catenary-pantograph system. Overhead lines are regarded as simple strings, and hangers connected to the strings are replaced with concentrated forces acting on them. The displacement of strings due to concentrated forces caused by hangers and pantograph is expressed using Green's function. A system of linear algebraic equations in terms of unknown forces is derived based upon the compatibility requirement at the location of hangers and pantograph. This procedure is more analytic in formulation compared to the existing methods such as finite difference method or normal modes method, and it is expected to be more accurate. Present method has additional advantage that it requires neither numerical differentiation nor system eigenvalues.

  • A slight asymmetry exists in Korean beslls due to decorative sculptures, carved figures and casting irregularities. In this study, the influence of the asymmetry on the bell's best frequencies and mode shapes is studied by using finite element method and modal testing. Also measurement techniques of nodal lines and damping ratios of bells with very small beat frequencies are discussed.

  • Component mode synthesis (CMS) method can be divided into free, fixed and hybrid interface method according to each component's connecting conditions. In this paper, major mode synthesis methods were reviewed and their accuracies were examined by comparing the calculated eigenvalues with those from full finite element (FE) model. Also, CMS is expanded into the coupling between finite element (FE) and experimental model. Since the assumed experimental data seldom have slope information, the slope information at the interface points is prepared by curve-fitting of the calculated values. A simple beam structure to show the effectiveness of the above method, and we found that it can improve the accuracy of the synthesis method in calculation, expecially in the low modes.
