  • An efficient implicit multigrid method is presented for the Navier-Stokes and $k-{\omega}$ turbulence equations. Freezing and limiting strategies are applied to improve the robustness and convergence of the multigrid method. The eddy viscosity and strongly nonlinear production terms of turbulence are frozen in the coarser grids by passing down the values without update of them. The turbulence equations together with the Navier-Stokes equations, however, are consecutively solved on the coarser grids in a loosely coupled fashion. A simple limit for k is also introduced to circumvent slow-down of convergence. Numerical results for the unseparated and separated transonic airfoil flows show that all computations converge well without any robustness problem and the computing time is reduced to a factor of about 3 by the present multigrid method.

  • The study presents an computer-aided analysis and its design for the forming process of $\Omega$-type bellows tube. Finite element analysis was carried out to perform the process simulation. Based on the analytic results of various conditions, the forming conditions used for angled U-type bellows tube were settled. The 3D modeling was constructed by I-DEAS and PAM-STAMP was used for process simulation. It is concluded that the spring back of formed bellows influences $\Omega$-shape and these results can be used for the process design.

  • In this study, cathodic protection experiment was carried out by Al-alloy sacrificial anode in marine environments which have specific resistance($\rho$) if 25~7000$\Omega$.cm and investigated protection potential, current density and loss rate of Al-alloy sacrificial anode. The main results resistance($\rho$) of 400$\Omega$.cm, the cathodic protection potential appears high about-720 mV(SCE). But below specific resistance($\rho$) of 300$\Omega$.cm, the cathodic protection potential appears low about-770 mV(SCE) and simultaneously, cathode is protected sufficiently. 2) The loss rate of Al-Alloy sacrificial anode became large with decreasing specific resistance and increasing the ratio(A sub(c)/A sub(a) of bared surface area of anode and cathode. 3) The loss rate of Al-alloy sacrificial anode(w) to the mean current density of anode(i) is as follows. w=ai+b (a, b : experimental constants)

  • In this article we discuss some aspects of operational Tau Method on delay differential equations and then we apply this method on the differential delay equation defined by $\omega(u)\;=\frac{1}{u}\;for\;1\lequ\leq2$ and $(u\omega(u))'\;=\omega(u-1)\;foru\geq2$, which was introduced by Buchstab. As Khajah et al.[1] applied the Recursive Tau Method on this problem, they had to apply that Method under the Mathematica software to get reasonable accuracy. We present very good results obtained just by applying the Operational Tau Method using a Fortran code. The results show that we can obtain as much accuracy as is allowed by the Fortran compiler and the machine-limitations. The easy applications and reported results concerning the Operational Tau are again confirming the numerical capabilities of this Method to handle problems in different applications.

  • We consider Gibbs measures on $(R \times W_{0,0})^{Z^\nu}, W_{0,0} = {\omega \in C[0,1] : \omega(0) = \omega(1)}$, which are associated to an interaction between particles in lattice boson systems (quantum unbounded spin systems). In [4], the Gibbs measures were introduced in the study of equilibrium states of interacting lattice boson systems and were characterized by means of the equilibrium conditions. In this paper we utilize the techniques of the stochastic calculus of variations and the infinite dimensional Ito integral to derive stochastic equations which we call the equilibrium equations. We show that under appropriate conditions the equilibrium conditions and the equilibrium equations are equivalent. The lattice boson systems with superstable and regular interactions, which we studied in [4], are typical examples.

  • Let $(\Omega, F, P)$ be a probability space with F a $\sigma$-algebra of subsets of the measure space $\Omega$ and P a probability measures on $\Omega$. Suppose $a > 0$ and let $(F_t)_{t \in [0,a]}$ be an increasing family of sub-$\sigma$- algebras of F. If $r > 0$, let $J = [-r, 0]$ and $C(J, R^n)$ the Banach space of all continuous paths $\gamma : J \to R^n$ with the sup-norm $\Vert \gamma \Vert_C = sup_{s \in J} $\mid$\gamma(x)$\mid$$ where $$\mid$\cdot$\mid$$ denotes the Euclidean norm on $R^n$. Let E and F be separable real Banach spaces and L(E,F) be the Banach space of all continuous linear maps $T : E \to F$ with the norm $\Vert T \Vert = sup {$\mid$T(x)$\mid$_F : x \in E, $\mid$x$\mid$_E \leq 1}$.

  • We investigate the bahivor of the gradient of solutions to the refraction equation $div(( 1+ (k - 1)_\chi D)\nabla u) = 0$ under perturbation of domain D. If $u_h$ are solutions to the refraction equation corresponding to subdomains D and $D_h$ of a domain $\Omega$ in 2 dimensional plane with the same Neumann data on $\partial\Omega$, respectively, we prove that $\left\$\mid$ \nabla(u - u_h) \right\$\mid$_{L^2(\Omega)} \leq C\sqrt{dist(D, D_h)}$ where $dist(D, D_h)$ is the Hausdorff distance between D and $D_h$. We also show that this is the best possible result.

  • Asymmetric force and vibration caused by separation flow at high angle of attack affect the stability of supersonic missile. As a preliminary study we verified the effect of turbulence model through general 3-D slender body for the supersonic flow at high angle of attack. ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ Wilcox model, ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ Wilcox-Durbin+ model, ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ shear-stress transport model, and Spalart-Allmaras one equation model are used. Grid sensitivity test was performed with three different grid system. results show that all models are in good agreement with the experimental data.

  • The operating characteristics, such as, the threshold gain, lasing frequency, and longitudinal intensity profile, etc., of 1.55$\mu$m DFB laser diode with index and/or gain grating structures and with one side AR-coated mirror have been analyzed. From this analysis, the optimum design parameters have been shown that ${\Delta}{\Omega}$ (the phase difference between index grating and gain grating) is 0 or ${\pi}$, (xL)$_{r}$=1~3 and (xL)$_{i}$=0.5~0.9. It has been also shown that the modal selectivity and intensity uniformity of the DFB lasers with .DELTA..OMEGA.=0 are ~1.2 times better thatn those of the DFB lasers with ${\Delta}{\Omega}$= ${\pi}$.

  • A bridge resistance deviation-to-period (BRD-to-P) converter is presented for interfacing resistive biosensors. It consists of a linear operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) and a current-controlled oscillator (CCO) formed by a current-tunable Schmitt trigger and an integrator. The free running period of the converter is 1.824 ms when the bridge offset resistance is $1k{\Omega}$. The conversion sensitivity of the converter amounts to $3.814ms/{\Omega}$ over the resistance deviation range of $0-1.2{\Omega}$. The linearity error of the conversion characteristic is less than ${\pm}0.004%$.
