In this paper, we propose a method to automatically extract stable visual landmarks from observed data for a mobile robot with stereo vision system. The robot selects as stable landmarks vertical line segments which are distinct and on planar surfaces, because they are expected to be observed reliably from various view-points. When the robot moves, it uses several, less uncertain landmarks for estimating its motion. Experimental results in real scenes show the validity of the proposed method.

For a positive integer m, operator m-semi-stability and the strict operator m-semi-stability of probability measures on R^d$ are defined. The operator m-semi-stability is a generalization of the definition of operator semi-stability with exponent Q. Characterization of strictly operator na-semi-stable distributions among operator m-semi-stable distributions is given. Translation of strictly operator m-semi-stable distribution is discussed.

Two principally different statements of the problem of stable numerical differentiation are considered. It is analyzed when it is possible in principle to get a stable approximation to the derivative ${\Large f}'$ given noisy data ${\Large f}_{\delta}$. Computational aspects of the problem are discussed and illustrated by examples. These examples show the practical value of the new understanding of the problem of stable differentiation.

On a compact oriented smooth 3-dimensional manifold (M, g), we consider the critical point equation(CPE) defined as $z_g=s^{{\prime}*}_g(f)$. Under CPE, it is shown in [5] that every stable minimal hypersurface in M is contained in ${\varphi}^{-1}(0)$ for ${\varphi}{\in}$ ker $s^{{\prime}*}_g$. We study analytic and geometric conditions under which the stable minimal hypersurface in M does not exist.

We give characterization of ${\Omega}$-stable diffeomorphisms via the notions of weak inverse shadowing. More precisely, it is proved that the $C^1$ interior of the set of diffeomorphisms with the weak inverse shadowing property with respect to the class $\mathcal{T}_h$ coincides with the set of ${\Omega}$-stable diffeomorphisms.

A ring R has weakly stable range one provided that aR+bR=R implies that there exists a $y{\in}R$ such that $a+by{\in}R$ is right or left invertible. We prove, in this paper, that every regular element in an exchange ring having weakly stable range one is the sum of an idempotent and a weak unit. This generalize the corresponding result of one-sided unit-regular ring. Extensions of power comparability and power cancellation are also studied.

The dynamic properties near (and at) a stable steady state are discussed, when a chemical system relaxes from the unstable steady state. The time-dependent correlation length for the fluctuating variable near a stable steady state is explicitly obtained by introducing the probability average for the variable satisfying the rate equation. The study is carried out about the effect of nonlinearity on the correlation length near (and at) a stable steady state.

In this paper, we give an upper bound for the fundamental tone of stable constant mean curvature hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space. Let M be an n-dimensional complete non-compact constant mean curvature hypersurface with finite L²-norm of the traceless second fundamental form. If M is weakly stable, then λ₁(M) is bounded above by n² + O(n^2+s) for arbitrary s > 0.

We introduce an algebraic structure induced by a fuzzy bipartial order on a complete residuated lattices with the double negative law. We undertake an investigation into the properties of fuzzy bi-partial orders, including their various characteristics and features. We demonstrate that the two families of l-stable and r-stable fuzzy sets can be regarded as complete lattices, and we establish that these two families are anti-isomorphic. Furthermore, we provide two examples related to them.

Phosphate, ammonia, glucosamine, glucose, pyruvate, succinate, fumarate, malate and acetate were examined for their ability to control the heat-stable enterotoxin (ST) production in succinate salts medium or in M9 medium. The results obtained were summerized as follows. 1. When the initial phosphate concentration was adjusted to 1.0mM, ST production was decreased to 80u/ml or less. But when the initial phosphate concentration was adjusted to 64mM or 100mM, enterotoxin production was 320u/ml. 2. When the initial ammonia concentration in the medium was adjusted to 1.0mM, no ST production and cell growth were observed. But when ammonia concentration was adjusted to 10mM, 19mM, 38mM or 76mM, enterotoxin production was 320u/ml. 3. Among carbon sources, glucosamine, glucose, pyruvate, succinate, fumarate, malate and acetate, acetate supported the highest specific production (928 unit/O.D.) of heat-stable enterotoxin. From this results, we could assume that heat-stable enterotoxin production is controlled by stringent control mechanism. 4. When the pH of the succinate salts medium was kept between 6.2 to 6.5, no heat-stable enterotoxin production was observed, but when the pH of the medium was kept between pH 6.2 to 6.5, 267 unit/O.D. of heat-stable enterotoxin was produced. 5. Glucose inhibited the heat-stable enterotoxin production and the mechanism was assumed due to its capacity to lower the pH of the medium during catabolysis and its high metabolic energy.
