ACTD(Advanced Concept Technology Demonstrations) exploit mature technologies to solve important military problems. A declining budget, significant changes in threats, and an accelerated pace of technology development have challenged our ability to adequately respond to rapidly evolving military needs. This work descibes ACTD processes, management, and ACTD programs case. It is presesyed a defense acquisition program applied ACTD.A scheme of the defense asquisition program using ACTD met military needs and technology readiness level is described.

This paper present the brief generation process of system requirements or mart UAV from a development obejective. The current Snart UAV requirements deal with the restricted life cycle from development to test and verification exclusive of full life cycle beacuse of the new technology demonstration research program funded by goverments. The Smart UAV system consists of flight vechicle, avionics, communication link, payload, ground control stationand ground supporting system. In thus paper, top-down flown requirememts are intoduced how to allocate to each sub-system.

Abstract Tilting train has been developed to increase the oprational speed of the trains on conventional lines which have many curves. This train are tilted at curves to compensate for unbalanced carbody centrifugal acceleration to a greater extent than compensation produced by the track cant, so that passengers do not feel centrifugal acceleration and thus trains can run at higher speed at curves. This paper developed PDM(product data management) to make a system engineering of TTX(Tilting Train eXpress) with maximum operation speed 180 km/h.

Most rail system related simulations currently used are designed to simulate only one discipline system. This obviously assunes the other discipline system are running regularly not being affected by the system being simulated. In this paper a multi discipline simulator is proposed and its design concept is presented.A multi discipline simulator is the simultor in which major subsystems with different technical discipline are simulated simultaneously. The advantage of the simulator is in that it makes it possible to analyze the systems behavior while other discipline system vary. With this we can identify the possible to analyze the systems ehavior find their solutions. A proto type simulator has bee developed using object oriented programming. Object concept was judged best suitable to model the various multi-discipline self-controlling railway subsystems. It was applied to the target system, which is under development by the Korea Railroad Research institute. The test results show it is very useful in design verification. It could also be a good tool in research and development work to make to improe the system.

시스템 엔지니어링은 시스템의 일생 주기동안 수행되며 고장정보체계(Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System)는 제작단계부터 수행되는 RAMS(Reliability, Availability,Manitani bility,safety)과업 중의 하나이다. 고장정보체계는 설계와 제작단계에서 생성된 고장원인을 제거하고 수정작업을 구현하기 위한 방법을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 한국형 고속열차를 대상으로 고장정보 분석 및 관리, 신뢰도 평가를 위해 구축한 고장정보체계와 그 활용사례를 제시한다.

A web-based program life-cycle management(PLM) system is introduced to implement the system engineering processes and to provide the development teaceability online. This information system aims for the realization of essential system engineering management techniques currently applied to the space launch system development program including management of configuration and data based on the work breakdown structure(WBS), WBS, bill of materials and properties. The system enhances communication and gives access to the development data with relevant information such as data-to-data relation and approval status/history through the web, and preserve all of the development data throughout the program life-cycle. Further improvement of the system is planned to implement the program managrment pricesses and to provide integrated information useful for the programmatic decision making.

System engineering(SE) management techniques applied for space launch system development are introduced to assess the current status and address the effwctiveness of these techniques. Management plans and guides are prepared for the work breakdown structure , data, comfiguration, interface control, Quality assurance, procurement, reliability, risk and verification/validation . Further improvement is required for the system engineering management plan(SEMP) to merge the international cooperation into current engineering managment system.

A System engineering is a management technique that simultaneously interates all essential acquisition activities through the use of multidisciplinary teams to optimize the design, manufacturing, business, and supportability processes. This work describes two case studies of the defence acquistion prigram applied SE. It is presented a general understanding of SE and perspective of SE applications for defense acquisition process.

The Smart UAV Program was motivated by a huge potential market, a various application and future core technologies. The Smart UAV system is defined as the advanced air vehicle with the smart technology such as collision awareness and avoidance, healthy monitering and self-recovering, intelligent active control. Due to the broad interest by government, industry and academia, Smart UAV development center and government steering committee were established. The organization of Smart UAV program consists of domestic/international companies and academia. in this paper, the process and application of system engineering was introduced for Smart UAV development program.

This paper deals with the feasibility analysis and alternatives for infrared detector development. The purpose of this paper analyze development requirement and feasibility study in both technology and cost. We get raw input data for system engineering process from development and technical expert, and then analyze cost and technology for development feasibility, and alternative study. Infrared Detector is core component of Thermal Imaging System and developed by ADD from 2006 to 2008 year. Technical level is analyzed by TRL(Technical Readiness Level) and AOA(Analysis of Alternative) is done by development and production cost estimate. We use SEER-H tool for cost estimate, that is parametric cost estimate tool based on Knowledge Base. Also this paper presents risk analysis for project management because it is necessary to risk driver management during the infrared detector development. The result of IR Detector feasibility and alternative study will be used in technical and cost analysis. This study can help those who are related to the cost analysis and development feasibility of other weapons

Defense analysis & evaluation includes menace analysis, validation analysis, problem analysis, scientific technical analysis, technical trad-off analysis, alternative analysis, cost analysis, etc. Reliable related data is required to perform these analysis activities efficiently. but in case of these defense analysis & evaluation data acquisition system, the data is insufficient and scattered about each organization. the data of database system is also not utilized sufficiently. abroad technical data is also low level data such as catalog or military officer's collection. therefore, this paper propose defense analysis & evaluation data acquisition system by systems engineering process. we also propose construction method of data acquisition system.

The Tactical Data Link System(TDLS) is a standardized communication link to exchange and interface positional, situational information, command and control in real time. It has been evaluated that the link would play an important role for tactical interoperability, situation awareness, and execution of joint operations in the future war. This work presents how to embody the TDLS through the systems engineering approach on the base of TDLS operating concept analysis of helicopters-groud units.

This paper presents the general system theory and its applications to the safety analysis method that is a recent trend over the traditional event-driven model. This new model is known as STAMP(Systems Theory Accident Modeling and Process)proposed by Nancy G. Leveson in MIT. The new model has benefits of systemic approaches concerning the system safety as a whole including the context it is in, its stimulants and outcomes, and its parts as well as the relationships among them in a holistic manner. The method consists of a hierarchical control structure, a process model, and the safety constraints governing the control. This paper demonstrates an example the contrasts the differences between the approaches of STAMP and the traditional safety models.

So manufacturers must design, manufacture and sell goods that meet customer's need and must do this while meeting the needs of the environment. In this research we have developed product structure and configuration management system that treats electronic catalogs for recycling of train parts. This research focused on two system. One is JAVA-based electronic catalog that give the information about recycling of train parts. The other is product structure and configuration management system based on electronic catalog and Bill of Materials(B.O.M)

Our research proposes how to, systematically, count function point from initial functional requirements based on natural language. Gradually, Function Point Analysis is used to overcome the limitation of LOC(Line Of Code) for estimating software size. Moreover, it plays an important role in cost management. Function point is derived from initial requirements and is determined by experts who have an education for function point. However, currently there are few researches to cout function point by systematic or automatic rules. Through extending our porposed method, we expect that function point is able to be counted automatically or semi-automatically. This would be our future research
