  • We study codes meeting a generalized version of the Singleton bound for higher weights. We show that some of the higher weight enumerators of these codes are uniquely determined. We give the higher weight enumerators for MDS codes, the Simplex codes, the Hamming codes, the first order Reed-Muller codes and their dual codes. For the putative [72, 36, 16] code we find the i-th higher weight enumerators for i = 12 to 36. Additionally, we give a version of the generalized Singleton bound for non-linear codes.

  • In this paper, we estimate the proportion of individuals having health insurance in a given year for several small domains cross-classified by age, sex and other demographic characteristics using the data provided by the National Center for Health Statistics(NCHS). We employ Bayesian as well as frequentist methodology to obtain small domain estimates and the associated measures of precision. One of the new features of our study is that we utilize the survey weights along with the model to derive the small domain estimates.

  • Using the results on the coefficients of Hermite-Fej$\acute{e}$r interpolations in [5], we investigate convergence of Hermite and Hermite-$Fej{\acute{e}}r$ interpolation of order m, m=1,2,... in $L_p(0<p<{\infty})$ and associated product quadrature rules for a class of fast decaying even $Erd{\H{o}}s$ weights on the real line.

  • Manual lifting, as a part of manual materials handling activities, is recognized by authorities in the fields of occupational health and safety as a major hazards to industrial workers. In order to minimize the injuries caused by manual material handling activities as well as maximize job productivity, it is important to determine the maximum weights. This paper presents the optimal combination of membership functions according to the high lifting frequency and determines the safe maximum acceptable weights in manual lifting activities through the actual experiment.

  • In order to evaluate landslide susceptibility in Yanbian region, this study analyzed 7 factors related to landslide occurrence, such as soil, geology, land use, slope, slope aspect, fault and river by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and calculated the weights of these 7 hazard-induced factors, determined the internal weights and the relative weights between various factors. According to these weights, combining the Remote Sensing technology (RS) with Geographic Information System technology (GIS), the selected area was evaluated by using GIS raster data analysis function, then landslide susceptibility chart was mapped out. The comprehensive analysis of AHP and GIS showed that there has unstable area with the potential risk of sliding in the research area. The result of landslide susceptibility agrees well with the historical landslides, which proves the accuracy of adopted methods and hazard-induced factors.

  • Constructing a shortest path on a graph is a fundamental problem in the area of graph theory. In an application where we cannot exactly determine the weights of edges, fuzzy weights can be used instead of crisp weights, and Type-2 fuzzy weights will be more suitable if this uncertainty varies under some conditions. In this paper, shortest path problem in type-1 fuzzy weighted graphs is extended for type-2 fuzzy weighted graphes. A solution is also given based on possibility theory and extension principle.

  • For a weighting method to be practically valid, it should produce weights which coincide with the relative importance of attributes perceived by the decision maker. In this paper, 'bootstrapping' is used to compare the practical validities of five weighting methods frequently used; the rank order centroid method, the rank reciprocal method, the rank sum method, the entropic method, and the geometric mean method. Bootstrapping refers to the procedure where the analysts allow the decision maker to make careful judgements on a series of similar cases, then infer statistically what weights he was implicitly using to arrive at the particular ranking. The weights produced by bootstrapping can therefore be regarded as well reflecting the decision maker's perceived relative importances. Bootstrapping and the five weighting methods were applied to a job selection problem. The results showed that both the rank order centroid method and the rank reciprocal method had higher level of practical validity than the other three methods, though a large difference could not be found either in the resulting weights or in the corresponding solutions.

  • An inverse minimum spanning tree problem makes the least modification on the edge weights such that a predetermined spanning tree is a minimum spanning tree with respect to the new edge weights. In this paper, the concept of uncertain ${\alpha}$-minimum spanning tree is initiated for minimum spanning tree problem with uncertain edge weights. Using different decision criteria, two uncertain programming models are presented to formulate a specific inverse minimum spanning tree problem with uncertain edge weights involving a sum-type model and a minimax-type model. By means of the operational law of independent uncertain variables, the two uncertain programming models are transformed to their equivalent deterministic models which can be solved by classic optimization methods. Finally, some numerical examples on a traffic network reconstruction problem are put forward to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed models.

  • This paper investigates how the weights of performance measures vary depending on corporate life cycle, such as birth, growth, maturity, revival, and decline. Balanced Scorecard performance measures are employed for this investigation. Balanced Scorecard has been widely used for measuring a corporate Performance by incorporating financial and non-financial measures simultaneously. Because these performance measures are related to the compensation and promotion of employees, research of weights of performance measures would be instrumental. Questionnaires from 218 companies are analyzed. Depending on the corporate life cycle, our survey results demonstrate that the weights of the business Performance measures differ In the four Perspectives - financial. customer, Internal Process, and learning/growth. Our results can be used for enhancing the Duality of performance measurement systems.
