Purpose: High-quality nursing care must be provided for women with infertility, and their nursing needs must be identified. Although scales have been developed to assess infertility-related stress, quality of life, and psychosocial status, there is a lack of scales that assess the nursing needs of women with infertility. The purpose of this study was to develop a needs assessment scale for nursing care in women with infertility and to verify its reliability and validity. Methods: The 250 subjects in this study were women with infertility recruited from four hospitals. The scale was developed following the framework of DeVellis, through a literature review, in-depth interviews, development of preliminary items, verification of content validity, development of secondary items, verification of construct validity, and extraction of the final items. Date were analyzed using item analysis, factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Cronbach's alpha. Reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha, and validity was evaluated using item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and criterion validity. Results: The final version of the nursing needs assessment scale for woman with infertility consisted of 18 items. Four factors (physical and psychological nursing needs, needs for information regarding treatment, needs for infertility-related understanding and concern, and supportive needs) explained 66.0% of the total variance. Cronbach's alpha was .92 for the overall instrument and ranged from .88 to .91 for the subscales. Conclusion: These results suggest that this needs assessment scale for nursing care in women with infertility demonstrated acceptable validity and reliability and contained items suitable for assessing the level of nursing care needed by women with infertility.
This study is about the re-validation evaluation of the family Relationship Scale (FRS), developed to measure the family relationship in the social work practice. This study aims at re-validating the FRS, developed and validated in by Yang in 2001 for more general utilization. The sample was married mates and females residing in Seoul. For Face Validity, the content analysis was performed, and the FRS was re-validated in the dimensions of Love & Caring, Acceptance, and Recognition, positive affection, empathy, and autonomy and flexibility for each area. Internal reliability was .93, and internal consistency among three dimensions was 93%. For Empirical Validity, the Construct validity, the Criterion validity, and the Discriminant validity were performed. Construct Validity was validated through factor analyses. Commonalities for the factor analysis was 54%, and the factor loading for each factor was over .45. The confirmative factor analysis also confirmed the fitness of the scale. For Predictive Validity of Criterion Validity, regression analysis showed that the family stress scores became lower as the scores of the family relationship became higher; the discriminant analysis revealed that the family stress turned low ill tile group of high scores of family relationship. The Correlation analysis for Concurrent Validity was performed and the results showed the positive and significant relationship with a couple communication level (r=54) and a parent-child communication level (r=64). Life satisfaction and mental health level also revealed significantly positive correlation to prove Convergent Validity. Physical health level revealed a weak relationship with family relationship providing the evidence of Discriminant Validity. Discriminance was also proved by the analysis of variance with demographics. Thus, Cross Validation was confirmed the validation of the FRS through the various analyses with the married population. This study result improved the validity generalization of the Scale and verify the generalized usage of this sociometric scale in the field of social work practice.
The purpose of this study is to translate The Digital Addiction Scale for Children(DASC) developed by Hawi, Samaha and Griffiths into Korean and to verify its validity. To translate and validate the original scale developed for 9-12 years old, 294 people aged 9-12 years who usually use digital devices, and exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency, and validity analysis were conducted. In addition, reliability and validity analysis were conducted to confirm that this scale is a tool to measure the digital addiction of Korean children with high confidence level and validity. This study is meaningful in that it laid the foundations for related research by adapting and validating the digital addiction scale for children, which complements the limitations of the preceding measures, in accordance with the domestic situation in the situation where the digital addiction problem of children is getting serious.
This study aimed to develop the short-form of age-friendly scale which was suitable for the Korean cities and to examine the validity. To develop the scale, WHO and Seoul welfare foundation's age-friendly city guide were compared and analyzed. The data for this study were collected on people aged over 55 years old living in Seoul. The results in exploratory factor analysis showed that seven-factor structure model was appropriate for the scale. Seven factors were outdoor amenity, transportation, leisure activity, social participation, social communication, health and welfare service, social exclusion. The results supported the construct and concurrent validity of the age-friendly scale. Also its good internal consistency was confirmed. The implication and limitation of the study and suggestions for the future studies were discussed.
This study developed the Place Attachment to Childhood Home Scale and evaluated its validity and reliability. Samples consisted of 418 college students of four universities. Data were collected by questionnaire based on retrospective questions about the childhood home. Factor analysis resulted in 5 dimensions of place attachment : affection, place identity, place rootedness, playfulness, and place dependence. Especially, playfulness was a unique finding. The result of confirmatory factor analysis supported the five-factor structure. There were also significant correlations among sub-factors. The reliability of the scale appeared high (Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ = .948). Criterion-related validity was confirmed by significant correlations of the present scale with Attachment Scale to Place (Hess, 1997) and the Inventory of Parent Attachment (Armsden & Greenberg, 1987).
This study was aimed to validate the Infant/Toddler Environment Rating scale (ITERS). The rating scale was translated and adjusted appropriately by two researchers majoring child studies. An item-by-item comparison of the ITERS with criteria of NAEYC was conducted as the measure of content validity. 88% of the items of the ITERS was covered on the NAEYC criteria. Criterion validity was assessed by comparing ITERS scores and the Assessment Profile for early childhood Programs scores. The total correlation of two scores was .87. The sample for the inetrater reliability and internal consistency studies included 30 infant/toddler classes in 30 day care center in Inchon city. Two observers independently rated each class on the ITERS during a single visit. The Spearman's correlation coefficient for interater reliability on the overall scale was .74. For the measure of internal consistency, the Cronbach's Alpha score on the overall scale was .93. The rating results show that national/public child care centers have better quality in Adult Needs and Learning Activities subscales than private child care centers have.
Purpose: Obesity is already a major clinical problem in Korea, so obesity prevention and treatment practices are gradually interested in Korean Medicine doctors. Moreover subjective body shape image entered as a important medical topic recently. To make a graph system for clinical tool which based on the Korean national standard physical scale. Methods: Physical data of the girth of upper arm, abdomen, hip, buttock, flank, calf, and body weight were statistically analyzed, which collected through the fifth national standard physical scale research. And then reviewed those statistical validation. Results: Relationship of the each body scale data and those graphs were fit and right statistically. Conclusion: These new achieved graph system of Korean standard body scales could be adopt as a useful clinical tool for body image related patients such as obesity, PCOD and postpartum patient.
The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a scale of vicarious trauma for sexual violence counselors. To this end, the concept of composition and preliminary questions of the vicarious trauma of sexual violence counselors were selected through the analysis of a content of individual interviews of sexual violence counselors and the precedent theory. Then, preliminary scale was developed after expert's evaluation of the validity of the contents. Next, as a result of a confirmatory factor analysis on the preliminary scale of 349 sexual violence counselors with experience in consulting sexual violence clients, it is confirmed that the conformity of five-factor structure was found to be favorable. As a result of convergent and discriminative validity analysis, it was confirmed that the developed scale is a reasonable tool for measuring vicarious trauma of sexual violence counselors by showing proper correlation with Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale, Counselor Burnout Inventory and Inventory of Countertransference Behavior. Furthermore, as a result of correlation analysis between professional identity and Belief in a Just World, it confirmed that it has predictive validity of the scale by indicating a high negative correlation. Furthermore, the relationship between the scale of vicarious trauma of sexual violence counselors and career background was analyzed. Finally, based on the results of this study, the significance and limitations of this study and the direction of future research were discussed.

Although social work values are stressed among social work educators as well as practitioners, empirical studies on values have been very scarce. The objective of this study is to validate a Korean Version of the Professional Opinion Scale(POS). The Korean version was validated with a sample of 325 social worker working in various types of social work agencies. A series of confirmatory factor analysis suggested that 8 items be removed, resulting in 32 items with 4 factors. The Korean version has the same factor structure as the original version of the POS reported by its developer. The Korean version of the POS are found to be a reliable and valid instrument for measuring social work values. However, validation with more representative samples is needed to improve the quality of the Korean version of the POS.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a MOL instrument for school-age children in grades 4 through 6. Method: The research design was a methodological study. A four-phase design involved. 1) Interview data generated from professors, nurses, and elementary school students (n=8). 2) Content validation by expert panel (n=14) 3) Initial items corrected by elementary school students (n=20) 4) Instrument validation by survey (n=574). Finally, 24 items were chosen as a meaning of life scale for late school-age children. Results: The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 24 items was .893 indicated a high internal consistency of the instrument, 2) Through factor analysis, 5 factors were extracted. These factors were labeled as 'relational experience', 'positive attitude', 'satisfaction/ hope', 'pursuit of goal', and experience of family love. These factors explained 52.311% of the total variance. Conclusion: The MOL scale for late school-age children can be used in nursing programs to improve the meaning of life. Studies on difference in meaning of life for late school-age children are needed for reverification.
