  • In response to the era of transformation necessitating the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, educational innovation is undertaken with the implementation of AI digital textbooks in Mathematics, English, and Information subjects by 2025 in Korea. Within this context, this study analyzed the perceptions and needs of elementary school teachers regarding mathematics AI digital textbook. Based on a survey conducted in November 2023, involving 132 elementary school teachers across the country, the analysis revealed that the majority of elementary school teachers had a low perception of the introduction and need for mathematics AI digital textbooks. However, some recognized the potential for personalized learning and effective teaching support. Furthermore, among the core technologies of the AI digital textbook, teachers highly valued the necessity of learning diagnostics and teacher reconfiguration functions and had the most positive perception of their usefulness in math lessons, while their perception of interactivity was relatively low. These findings suggest the need for changing teachers' perceptions through professional development and information provision to ensure the successful adoption and use of mathematics AI digital textbooks. Specifically, providing concrete and practical ways to use the AI digital textbook, exploring alternatives to digital overload, and continuing development and research on core technologies.

  • Despite its wide application, cloud computing raises privacy leakage concerns because users should send their private data to the cloud. Homomorphic encryption (HE) can resolve the concerns by allowing cloud servers to compute on encrypted data without decryption. However, due to the huge computation overhead of HE, simply executing an entire cloud program with HE causes significant computation. Manually partitioning the program and applying HE only to the partitioned program for the cloud can reduce the computation overhead. However, the manual code partitioning and HE-transformation are time-consuming and error-prone. This work proposes a new homomorphic encryption enabled annotation-guided code partitioning compiler, called Heapa, for privacy preserving cloud computing. Heapa allows programmers to annotate a program about the code region for cloud computing. Then, Heapa analyzes the annotated program, makes a partition plan with a variable list that requires communication and encryption, and generates a homomorphic encryptionenabled partitioned programs. Moreover, Heapa provides not only two region-level partitioning annotations, but also two instruction-level annotations, thus enabling a fine-grained partitioning and achieving better performance. For six machine learning and deep learning applications, Heapa achieves a 3.61 times geomean performance speedup compared to the non-partitioned cloud computing scheme.

  • The length, the frequency, and the methods of surveillance for intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) of the pancreas are still debating. According to the recent guidelines, IPMN is stratified into "high-risk stigmata" or absolute indication and "worrisome features" or relative indication as a guide in managing these patients, either those with resection of the lesion or those under surveillance. The risk of malignant transformation was quite low for branch duct-IPMNs without worrisome features or high risk stigmata. However, because the incidence rate of pancreatic cancer in these patients increase linearly with time, continued long-term surveillance is therefore important for patients with low-risk, as well as higher-risk, IPMN. Considering the high prevalence of malignancy, main duct-IPMN should be treated by surgical resection. Among patients with these type IPMNs, segmental dilatation of the main pancreatic duct without any mural nodules and larger than 10 mm of main pancreatic duct might not be immediately resected and need very careful examination and observation. The risk related to a major pancreatic resection must balance the risk of surveillance in patients with IPMN of the pancreas who have co-morbidity and are elderly.

  • This thesis originated from a dream of a young man clad in green, suspended like Christ on the stair landing. This dream reminded me of Jung's vision of the Christ on the Cross, bathed in a greenish gold aurum viriditas. Jung associated the analogy of Christ and aurum non vulgi, aurum viriditas of alchemy from this vision. I was fascinated by Jung's words that originally there were four alchemical stages, but by the 15th-16th century they were reduced to three (nigredo-albedo-rubedo); and that viriditas used to exist after nigredo had vanished. This thesis is about the process of unraveling these mysteries through amplification. In the realm of alchemy, viriditas (verdigris) was an old and humble substance, yet it would eventually metamorphose into pure gold under the supervision of alchemists. It was the prima materia of alchemical work and the ultimate product, mercurius itself. It was the celestial spirit, concealed beneath the earth, and the embodiment of transformation, enriching the earth, sprouting a myriad of buds and flowers, turning the land green. I examined the dreams, visions, and pictures of Hildegard of Bingen, C.G. Jung, my analysands, and my own to figure out whether viriditas was the fourth that leads to wholeness that engaged in the whole process of individuation. While working on this thesis, I learned that for our personalities to mature, we must include the lower, the secular, the feminine, the chtonic, and even the evil. To achieve this, we cannot avoid our opposite, the fourth, but to wait and persevere until we can walk together. Then, our lives will be fresh and blossoming.

  • In the era of digital transformation, discussions about digital curation have become increasingly active not only in academia but also in various fields. The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the conceptual changes in digital curation over time, particularly by examining the definition statements related to digital curation as described in academic literature. To achieve this, academic research papers from 2009, when the term "digital curation" was first mentioned, to 2023 were collected, and definition statements that explained relevant concepts were extracted. Basic statistical analyses were conducted. Using DMR topic modeling and word networks, the relationships among keywords and the changes in their importance over time were examined, and a conceptual map of digital curation was made focusing on the main topics. The results revealed that the concept of digital curation is primarily centered around the themes of "data preservation," "traditional curator roles," and "product recommendation curation." Depending on the researchers' intentions for utilizing digital curation, the concept was expanded to include topics such as "content distribution and classification," "information usage," and "curation models." This study is significant in that it analyzed the concept of digital curation through definition statements reflecting the perspectives of researchers. Additionally, the study holds value in explicitly identifying changes in the concepts that researchers emphasize over time through the trends in topic prevalence.

  • In the rapid digital transformation era, kiosks have become a common element in daily life. However, their widespread deployment has introduced new challenges for socially marginalized groups, including individuals with disabilities and the elderly. This study aims to evaluate the usability of kiosks for individuals with low vision and propose improvement strategies. The study was conducted with eight low-vision university students from A University in Gyeongsangbuk-do and four non-disabled university students from Daegu. Usability was assessed through experiments involving a self-service certificate issuance kiosk and a fast-food restaurant kiosk, using Jakob Nielsen's five usability evaluation criteria: learnability, efficiency, memorability, error prevention, and satisfaction. The results revealed that individuals with low vision faced significant difficulties with small text size, low contrast, no physical buttons, and lack of screen zoom functionality. To address these issues, the study recommends enhancements such as increasing text size and contrast, incorporating physical buttons, adding zoom functionality, ensuring consistent UI design, and providing auditory feedback. This study provides foundational data for enhancing information accessibility for individuals with low vision. It offers critical insights into kiosk design and policy recommendations, thereby contributing to the mitigation of the digital divide.

  • In June 2016, the term "Fourth Industrial Revolution" was first used at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and it gained worldwide attention. Consequently, the importance of smart ports has increased as the shipping industry has been incorporating various Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. Currently, major countries around the world are working to achieve digital transformation in the maritime and port industry by establishing comprehensive smart ports. However, the smartification of domestic ports in South Korea is currently limited to a few areas such as Busan, Incheon, and Gwangyang, focusing on port automation. In this context, this study performed keyword analysis to identify key components of smart ports and conducted Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis among relevant stakeholders to determine the priorities for the Introduction of smart ports in South Korea. The analysis revealed that universities prioritized automation, intelligenceization, informatization and environmentalization in that order. Research institutes prioritized informatization, intelligenceization, automation and environmentalization. Government agencies prioritized informatization, automation, intelligenceization and environmentalization, while private sector enterprises prioritized automation, intelligenceization, informatization, and environmentalization.

A Study on Daesoon Jinrihoe's View of Time (II): Focusing on Re-calibrated and Governed Time (대순진리회의 시간관 연구 (II) - 재조정되고 통치되는 시간을 중심으로 -)

  • One notable characteristic of Daesoon Jinrihoe's view of time, is its perception of time as a passive entity. This signifies that, in the context of Daesoon Jinrihoe, time is subject to influence through experience, specifically undergoing re-calibration or governance. The summary of this perspective is as follows: Firstly, Daesoon Jinrihoe's understanding of time incorporates a historical viewpoint characterized by the law of entropy, which posits that disorder increases as time progresses. Secondly, within the world established by Daesoon Jinrihoe, time experiences transformation before and after the Great Opening. Prior to this event, time follows a helical model characterized by increasing chaotic disorder, whereas in the Later World, the helical model reflects only Mutual Beneficence, symbolizing progress and development in the era. Thirdly, the Great Opening re-calibrates time, serving as the criterion for determining human life. Prior to the Great Opening, time recorded human life in a manner marked by Mutual Contention, whereas afterward, it will record human life as being characterized by Mutual Beneficence. This re-calibration of time leads precisely to directional (spatial) re-calibration. Fourthly, the Great Opening re-calibrates the order of time and space. In the Former World, space held precedence over time. However, the Great Opening changes this dynamic, with time assuming precedence over space in the Later World. In this context, the integration of time and space establishes a worldview. Fifthly, in the worldview of Daesoon Jinrihoe, time serves as a vehicle for the governance of the Supreme God. The Supreme God governs all things by controlling time, orchestrating changes spanning birth (saeng, 生), growth (jang, 長), harvest (yeom, 斂), and storage (jang, 藏), much like how problems are resolved through natural progress without requiring deliberate action. Lastly, time functions as a medium through which entities that strive to achieve unification with the Dao come to govern all things. For this reason, achieving unification with the Dao in Daesoon Jinrihoe specifically refers to the governance of time.

  • Recently, unmanned terminals (kiosks) have greatly increased their scope of use by allowing orders or payments to be made efficiently while replacing existing manpower. With the acceleration of digital transformation, the rate of kiosk installations has soared, making it an important task to help all age groups easily use kiosks. In this study, based on the function of the game engine and Hand Tracking technology, we developed content that can conduct kiosk education in a virtual world. The goal of this content is to help users unfamiliar with kiosks confidently cope with real-world situations by experiencing visual and auditory stress caused by waiting guests in virtual reality. To this end, two VR contents were developed. One is a simple kiosk experience content, and the other is specialized content that causes visual and auditory stress. The experiment was divided into two groups: one group experienced general VR content, while the other group experienced specialized VR content. After the experience, both groups proceeded to place orders in an actual store. Survey results showed that 85% of the experimental group and 95% of the control group were satisfied with the training. This confirms that the specialized experience described in this paper is effective for kiosk education.

  • Since the 2000s, there has been growing interest in community archival research in the West, and in Korea, projects that support citizen or resident participation in archival activities have also been increasing. With the role of community members as producers of records having gained importance in Korea, it has become necessary to examine the affective approach currently discussed in archival studies, focusing on the impact of "archival activities" on individual citizens. Unlike emotion, which is a personal and subjective experience, affect is characterized by "a sense shared based on relationships" and involves the concept of transformation of being (affection). This study aims to explore a method for analyzing the "affective impact applicable to citizen archival activities," an area that has not been previously addressed. To this end, the study reviews the meaning and concept of citizen archival activities and their development in Korea, focusing on the UCLA study (2018) and Brophy's (2005) approach to analyzing the affective impact of community archives to explore methodologies. It also explores the integration of the concept of "partyhood" to better reflect the characteristics of citizen archival activities. Based on these findings, this study proposes a conceptual model for analyzing the affective impact of citizen archival activities on recorders in Korea.
