This paper is a study on the design and realization of Pedestrian navigation service system for the visually impaired. As it is an user interface considering visually impaired, voice recognition functioned smartphone was used as the input tool and the Osteoacusis headset, which can vocally guide directions while recognizing the surrounding environment sound, was used as the output tool. Unlike the pre-existing pedestrian navigation smartphone apps, the developed system guides walking direction by the scale of the left and right stereo sound of the headset wearing, and the voice guidance about the forked or curved path is given several meters before according to the speed of the user, and the user is immediately warned of walking opposite direction or proceeding off the path. The system can acquire stable and reliable directional information using the motion tracker with the dynamic heading accuracy of 1.5 degrees. In order to overcome GPS position error, we proposed a robust trajectory planning algorithm for position error. Experimental results for the developed system show that the average directional angle error is 6.82 degrees (standard deviation: 5.98) in the experimental path, which can be stated that it stably navigated the user relatively.

Stress state of chip formation zone is one of the main problems in metal cutting mechanics. In two-dimensional case this process is usually considered as consistent shears of work material along one of several shear surfaces, separating chip from workpiece. These shear planes are assumed to be trajectories of maximum shear stress forming corresponding slip-line field. This paper suggests a new approach to the constriction of slip-line field, which implies uniform compression in chip formation zone. Based on the given model it has been found that imaginary shear line in orthogonal cutting is close to the trajectory of maximum normal stress and the problem about its determination has been considered as well. It has been shown that there is a second central slip-line field inside chip, which corresponds well to experimental data about stress distribution on tool rake face and tool-chip contact length. The suggested model would be useful in understanding mechanistic problems in machining.

This paper introduces the developed geometry PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge), one of several ILI (In-Line Inspection) tools, which provide a full picture of the pipeline from only single pass, and has compact size of the electronic device with not only low power consumption but also rapid response of sensors such as calipers, IMU and odometer. This tool is equipped with the several sensor systems. Caliper sensors measure the pipeline internal diameter, ovality and dent size and shape with high accuracy. The IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) measures the precise trajectory of the PIG during its traverse of the pipeline. The IMU also provide three-dimensional coordination in space from measurement of inertial acceleration and angular rate. Three odometers mounted on the PIG body provide the distance moved along the line and instantaneous velocity during the PIG run. The datum measured by the sensor systems are stored in on-board solid state memory and magnetic tape devices. There is an electromagnetic transmitter at the back end of the tool, the transmitter enables the inspection operators to keep tracking the tool while it travels through the pipeline. An experiment was fulfilled in pull-rig facility and was adopted from Incheon LT (LNG Terminal) to Namdong GS (Governor Station) line, 13 km length.

This paper proposes a new rehabilitation robot with upper and lower limb connections for gait training. As humans change a walking speed, their nervous systems adapt muscle activation patterns to modify arm swing for the appropriate frequency. By analyzing this property, we can find a relation between arm swinging and lower limb motions. Thus, the lower limb motion can be controlled by the arm swing for walking speed adaptation according to a patent's intension. This paper deals with the design aspects of the suggested gait rehabilitation robot, including a trajectory planning and a control strategy. The suggested robot is mainly composed of upper limb and lower limb devices, a body support system. The lower limb device consists of a slider device and two 2-dof footpads to allow walking training at uneven and various terrains. The upper limb device consists of an arm swing handle and switches to use as a user input device for walking. The body support system will partially support a patient's weight to allow the upper limb motions. Finally, we showed simulation results for the designed trajectory and controller using a dynamic simulation tool.

For preparing Korean lunar missions, optimal Earth-Moon transfer trajectory is designed using continuous low thrust. Using both constant and variable low thrusting method, "End-to-End" mission analysis is made from beginning of the Earth departure to the final lunar arrival. Spacecraft's equations of motion is expressed using N-body dynamics including the gravitational effects due to the Earth, Moon, Sun and also with Earth's $J_2$ effects. Planets' exact locations are computed accurately with JPL's DE405 ephemeris. As a results, optimal thrust steering angle's characteristics are discovered which showed almost tangential direction burns at the near of central planets. Also, it is confirmed that variable low thrusting method is more efficient than constant thrusting method, and can save about 5% of fuel consumption. Presented algorithm and various results will give numerous insights into the future Korea's Lunar missions using low thrust engines. Also, it is expected to be used as a basis of more detailed mission analyzing tool.
This study attempts at prototyping and evaluating a geovisualization tool that summarizes and explores human activity patterns using spatio-temporal trajectory data collected from GPS receiver. A set of core conceptualization developed in 'time geography' is successfully represented by our prototype based on the notion of 'space-time cube.' The notions of 'temporal dispersion cylinder' and 'parallel plane plot' are also implemented to allow funker analyses of human activity pattern on the space-time trajectory. The capabilities of the geovisualization environment we proposed include the interactive and dynamic functions that support a variety of explorations on the three components of spatio-temporal data : space(where), time(when), and object(what).

As traffic volume increases and road networks become more complicated, identifying for accurate traffic flow and driving smooth traffic flow are a concern of many countries. There are various analytical techniques and studies which desire to study about effective traffic flow. However, the necessary activity is finding the traffic flow pattern through data visualization including location information. In this paper aim to study a real-world urban traffic trajectory and visualize a pattern of traffic flow with a simulation tool. Our experiment is installing the sensor module in 40 taxis and our dataset is generated along 24 hours and unscheduled routes. After pre-processing data, we improved an open source traffic visualize tools to suitable for our experiment. Then we simulate our vehicle trajectory data with a dots animation over a period of time, which allows clearly view a traffic flow simulation and a understand the direction of movement of the vehicle or route pattern. In addition we further propose some novel timelines to show spatial-temporal features to improve an urban environment due to the traffic flow.

For the performance experiments of databases systems with moving object databases, we need moving object trajectory data sets. For example, benchmark data sets of moving object trajectories are required for experiments on query processing of moving object databases. For those reasons, several tools have been developed for generating moving objects in Euclidean spaces or road network spaces. Indoor space differs from outdoor spaces in many aspects and moving object generator for indoor space should reflect these differences. Even some tools were developed to produce virtual moving object trajectories in indoor space, the movements generated by them are not realistic. In this paper, we present a moving object generation tool for indoor space. First, this tool generates trajectories for pedestrians in an indoor space. And it provides a parametric generation of trajectories considering not only speed, number of pedestrians, minimum distance between pedestrians but also type of spaces, time constraints, and type of pedestrians. We try to reflect the patterns of pedestrians in indoor space as realistic as possible. For the reason of interoperability, several geospatial standards are used in the development of the tool.
Background: It is necessary to consider the overall countermeasure for analysis of nuclear activities according to the increase of the nuclear facilities like nuclear power and reprocessing plants in the neighboring countries including China, Taiwan, North Korea, Japan and South Korea. South Korea and comprehensive nuclear-test-ban treaty organization (CTBTO) are now operating the monitoring instruments to detect radionuclides released into the air. It is important to estimate the origin of radionuclides measured using the detection technology as well as the monitoring analysis in aspects of investigation and security of the nuclear activities in neighboring countries. Materials and methods: A three-dimensional forward/backward trajectory model has been developed to estimate the origin of radionuclides for a covert nuclear activity. The developed trajectory model was composed of forward and backward modules to track the particle positions using finite difference method. Results and discussion: A three-dimensional trajectory model was validated using the measured data at Chernobyl accident. The calculated results showed a good agreement by using the high concentration measurements and the locations where was near a release point. The three-dimensional trajectory model had some uncertainty according to the release time, release height and time interval of the trajectory at each release points. An atmospheric dispersion model called long-range accident dose assessment system (LADAS), based on the fields of regards (FOR) technique, was applied to reduce the uncertainties of the trajectory model and to improve the detective technology for estimating the radioisotopes emission area. Conclusion: The detective technology developed in this study can evaluate in release area and origin for covert nuclear activities based on measured radioisotopes at monitoring stations, and it might play critical tool to improve the ability of the nuclear safety field.
The key risk analysis technologies for the re-entry of space objects into Earth's atmosphere are divided into four categories: cataloguing and databases of the re-entry of space objects, lifetime and re-entry trajectory predictions, break-up models after re-entry and multiple debris distribution predictions, and ground impact probability models. In this study, we focused on reentry prediction, including orbital lifetime assessments, for space situational awareness systems. Re-entry predictions are very difficult and are affected by various sources of uncertainty. In particular, during uncontrolled re-entry, large spacecraft may break into several pieces of debris, and the surviving fragments can be a significant hazard for persons and properties on the ground. In recent years, specific methods and procedures have been developed to provide clear information for predicting and analyzing the re-entry of space objects and for ground-risk assessments. Representative tools include object reentry survival analysis tool (ORSAT) and debris assessment software (DAS) developed by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), spacecraft atmospheric re-entry and aerothermal break-up (SCARAB) and debris risk assessment and mitigation analysis (DRAMA) developed by European Space Agency (ESA), and semi-analytic tool for end of life analysis (STELA) developed by Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES). In this study, various surveys of existing re-entry space objects are reviewed, and an efficient re-entry prediction technique is suggested based on STELA, the life-cycle analysis tool for satellites, and DRAMA, a re-entry analysis tool. To verify the proposed method, the re-entry of the Tiangong-1 Space Lab, which is expected to re-enter Earth's atmosphere shortly, was simulated. Eventually, these results will provide a basis for space situational awareness risk analyses of the re-entry of space objects.
