  • In this paper, we propose the principles and design details of Automatic cable assembly test system and show its utility. Testing the cable assembly is required periodically or non-periodically in the system that the cable assembly performance is quite important like military equipment. There are several weaknesses when humans test the cable assembly manually. It not only takes much time but also could happen human error. To improve these disadvantages, I developed Automatic cable assembly test system. The system can be implemented by building switching control system that connect and disconnect the cable assembly and measuring devices. Through the result of the cable assembly test with this test system, we show this system makes test time short and improves of test reliability as compared with manual test.

  • This paper considers multi-agent systems with interval time-varying delays and switching interconnection topology. By construction of a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii's functional, new delay-dependent consensus control conditions for the systems are established in terms of LMIs (Linear Matrix Inequalities) which can be easily solved by various effective optimization algorithms. One numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

  • We proposed a method for fast turn-off switching of a vertically-aligned liquid crystal cell by low-temperature curing of the polymer structure. We confirmed that the turn-off times of the fabricated cells were reduced significantly as the curing temperature was lowered to $-20^{\circ}C$. We accounted for the effect of low-temperature curing on the turn-off time by using a mathematical model and by observing images obtained via scanning electron microscopy. We also confirmed that low-temperature curing is more effective in reducing the response time when the device is operated at a low temperature.

  • This paper presents a design of the controller for vehicle lateral dynamics using active yaw moment. Vehicle lateral motion is incorporated with directional controllability and stability. These are conflicting each other from the view of vehicle handling performance. To compromise the trade-off between these two aspects, we suggest a new control algorithm based on the sliding mode with time-varying switching surface according to the body side slip angle. The controller can deal with the nonlinear region in vehicle driving and be robust to the parameter uncertainties in the plant model. Control performance was evaluated from the simulation.

  • In this paper, a noble dead time minimization algorithm is presented for developing the outputs of inverters. The adverse effects of the dead time are examined. The principle of the proposed algorithm is explained with the conduction modes of the output currents. The H/W and the S/W construction method of the proposed algorithm are also presented. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by comparing simulation and experimental results with those of the conventional methods. It can be concluded from the results that the proposed algorithm have the virtue which is able to ruduce the numbers of inverter switching and the harmonics in the output voltages, and which make the output voltage equal to the reference value.

  • In this paper, the electromagnetic force acting in the arc column of 3 different extinction units is compared with using the FEM (Finite Element Method) and the arc velocity is calculated by the drag force of the fluid mechanics. The experiment for breaking the arc current was performed in each model at 100 volts in order to measure the arcing time. The outcome was compared with the computing value. As a result, this paper proposes that the divided U-shaped grid is able to shorten arcing time and improve the electric performance. It also suggests a methodology for comparing and analyzing the result obtained by simulation and experiment.

  • In this paper, a methodology is developed to remove the reaching phase and the high frequency chattering phenomenon which are the common drawbacks of variable structrue control (VSC) system. A time varying switching surface is proposed to achieve sliding motion during the entire control process and a continuous control law whose terms are continuous functions inside a boundary layer neighbouring the time varying switching surface is developed to remove the high frequency chattering phenomenon of VSC. The methodology developed in this paper is applied to the 2'nd order time varying system and the simulated results are compared with those of typical VSC methodology.

  • Accelerated life tests (ALTs) are frequently used in manufacturing industries to evaluate the reliability of products within a reasonable amount of time and cost. Test units are subjected to elevated stresses which yield quick failures. Most of the previous works on designing ALT plans are focused on tests that involve a single stress. Many times more than one stress factor influence the product's functioning. This paper deals with the design of optimum modified ramp-stress ALT plan for Burr type XII distribution with Type-I censoring under two stress factors, viz., voltage and switching rate each at two levels- low and high. It is assumed that usage time to failure is power law function of switching rate, and voltage increases linearly with time according to modified ramp-stress scheme. The cumulative exposure model is used to incorporate the effect of changing stresses. The optimum plan is devised using D-optimality criterion wherein the ${\log}_{10}$ of the determinant of Fisher information matrix is maximized. The method developed has been explained using a numerical example and sensitivity carried out.

  • Abstract - An electronic starter using MOSFET has been designed to take advantage of ideal preheating and starting features which can extend the lifetime of fluorescent lamps. The preheating circuit of the developed electronic starter is consisted of four parts - afull-wave rectifier circuit, an FET switching circuit a timer circuit for the gate switching, and a circuit for end-of-life protection. The circuit is analyzed by using PSpice simulation, and is improved to give an appropriate starting-time through control of R-C time constant of the timer circuit. And the circuit is also provided with an end-of-life protection feature, which utilizes the negative resistance characteristics of a thermistor that is thermally linked to FET through a heatsink. This also protects the FET from any overheating problems. From the results of simulation it is possible to obtain an appropriate value on the starting time for proper ignition and also it is verified that the limit for resistance of the thermistor is dependant on the value of resistance is the timer circuit

  • In this paper, we propose the optimal offset-time decision (OOD) algorithm which can effectively reduce the pre-transmission delay compared to the perfect isolation model, and can also be extended to general n priority classes while the target loss probability of each class is guaranteed for the variable offered load. In order to drive the OOD algorithm, we first analyze the loss probability of each priority class through class aggregation and iteration method; the analytic results obtained through the proposed algorithm are then validated with results garnered from extensive simulation tests.
