Minimizing the girder number and appling the long span deck of plate girder bridge is the main factors in the practical and economic design of the Twin Steel Girder Bridge. Therefore, it is important to verify the ability of the long span concrete deck. In this paper, to improve the problem, the precast concrete full depth deck has been used instead of cast-in-place concrete deck. The precast concrete full depth deck having longitudinal and transverse prestress is efficient to design of the long span concrete slabs. This paper introduces the design concept of Twin Steel Bridge using the precast concrete full depth deck and applied design case.

After the 1990's, Guss asphalt has chosen in Korea for using in pavement of a steel deck bridge because of it's distinguish ability about water proof and so on. But on the other hand it may cause server stress and displacement on the bridge as it is treated using very high temperature ranging from 220℃ to 260℃. Therefore it is critical to estimate the thermal effect of Guss asphalt on the steel deck bridge before the width and pattern of the unit portion are decided to minimize impact. In this study, a serious of numerical tests of the some steel box bridges were idealized were conducted to verify the feasibility of numerical value analysis. The parametric study was performed to present design proposal about the Box section dimensions and the diaphragm spacing.

This paper presents the flexural behavior of a hybrid Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer(GFRP)-steel decks for use in deteriorated bridge decks replacement. Static load tests were conducted to investigate the structural characteristics of the hybrid FRP-steel deck. The tested deck panel satisfied the design criteria. The failure mode of the hybrid deck was demonstrated ductility with deformation beyond initial yielding. The responses were compared with the ANSYS finite element predictions. It was found that the presented hybrid deck was efficient for use in bridges. The thickness of the hybrid deck may be decreased when compared to that of the all FRP deck with similar flexural rigidity.

Recently, steel-concrete composite structures are widely used in bridge and building constructions. In this paper, a new type of steel-concrete composite deck with profiled steel sheeting is proposed to replace the conventional cast-in-place reinforced concrete deck. Perfobond rib shear connectors were utilized to provide horizontal shear resistance between the profiled sheeting and the concrete. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed deck system, 8 full-scale deck specimens for PSC girder bridge were fabricated. The specimens were tested with four different shear span lengths to determine the horizontal shear resistance of the deck under a static monotonic loading. For comparison purpose, two reinforced concrete decks were also fabricated and tested. The horizontal shear resistance of the proposed deck system was calculated using the m-k method.

The displacements of steel deck bridge due to construction step are measured, and three dimensional analysis with full modeling is carried out to compare with the measured results. Three dimensional structural analyses considering construction step by large block construction method are accomplished with verified model. The conclusions are as follows. 1. Comparing the data of grid analysis with the result of 3D full modeling in steel deck bridge, the design method using grid analysis has a limit for describing the displacements of curved bridge. The analysis of 3D full modeling has been proved as more accurate method. The differentiation of results in two methods is about 10%~20%. 2. It is verified that the maximum displacement of during construction is 1.7 times larger than the displacement of final construction. 3. The bridge behavior considering the construction step is somewhat different from that of final stage in whole structure and the displacement and stress during construction is larger than that of final construction. Therefore, it needs the reasonable structural design considering the construction step to get economical efficiency and a high competitive construction.

Because of relatively high temperature, over $240^{\circ}C$, of asphalt for steel deck bridge during pavement procedure, the temperature of deck could rise over $100^{\circ}C$ and undesirable excessive displacement and thermal stress could occur. In this study, in order to estimate the thermal effect of pavement process and to find the optimal pavement process, a new thermal analysis technique with Equivalent Heat Source (EHS) is proposed and its applicability to the practical pavement of steel bridge is studied. EHS is developed to simulate the high temperature pavement materials and its thermal effect such as conduction and convection which cannot be explain easily in general structural analysis program for bridge design. To verify the applicability of new analysis technique with EHS, thermal analyses of steel deck bridge with uplift and curved bridge with various pavement procedures are presented.
The paper presents results of parametric studies, and an overall approach for the design of a modular bridge system which incorporates a steel-reinforcement free concrete slab cast on top of carbon FRP stiffened deck panels which act as both structural formwork and flexural reinforcement, spanning between hollow box type FRP girders. Results of the parametric studies are highlighted to elucidate important relationships between critical configurational parameters and empirical equations based on numerical studies are presented. Results are discussed at the level of the individual deck and girder components, and as a slab-on-girder bridge system. An overall design methodology for the components and bridge system including critical performance checks is also presented.

This paper is to research for construction of the longest open toped steel box girder composite bridge using precast concrete deck in the country. This type bridge can bring down the construction costs by reducing the steel's weight used it's girders. And, it also can reduce working hours for construction over 6months by applying the precast deck system. I will introduce the process of construction the longest this type bridge within the country named Seochon Bridge

There is a concern with worldwide deterioration of highway bridges, particularly reinforced concrete. The advantages of fibre reinforced plastic(FRP) composites over conventional materials motivate their use in highway bridges for replacement of structures. Recently, an FRP deck has been installed on a state highway, located in New York State, as an experimental project. In this paper, a systematic approach for analysis of this FRP deck bridge is presented. Multi-step linear numerical analyses have been performed using the finite element method to study the structural behavior and the possible failure mechanism of the FRP deck-superstructure system Deck's self-weight and ply orientations at the interface between steel girders and FRP deck are considered in this study. From this research, the results of the numerical analyses were corroborated with field test results. Analytical results reveal several potential failure mechanism for the FRP deck and truss bridge system The results presented in this study may be used to propose engineering design guideline for new and replacement FRP bridge deck structure.
Traffic flow capacity of some old road bridges is insufficient due to limited deck width. In such cases bridge deck widening is a common solution. For multi-girder reinforced concrete (RC) bridges it is possible to add steel-concrete composite girders as the new outermost girders. The deck widening may be combined with bridge strengthening thanks to thickening of the existing deck slab. Joint action of the existing and the added parts of such bridge span must be ensured. It refers especially to the horizontal plane at the interface of the existing slab and the added concrete layer as well as to the vertical planes at the external surfaces of the initially outermost girders where the added girders are connected to the existing bridge span. Since the distribution of the added concrete is non-uniform in the span cross-section the structure is particularly sensitive to the added concrete shrinkage. The shrinkage induces shear forces in the aforementioned planes. Widening of a 12 m long RC multi-girder bridge span is numerically analysed to assess the influence of the added concrete shrinkage. The analysis results show that: a) in the vertical plane of the connection of the added and the existing deck slab the longitudinal shear due to the shrinkage of the added concrete is comparable with the effect of live load, b) it is necessary to provide appropriate longitudinal reinforcement in the deck slab over the added girders due to tension induced by the shrinkage of the added concrete.
