  • We find a regularity criterion for the Ostwald-de Waele models like Serrin's condition to the Navier-Stokes equations. Moreover, we show short time existence and estimate the Hausdorff dimension of the set of singular times for the weak solutions.

  • This paper is concerned about several quasilinear elliptic systems with m-Laplacians. According to the Liouville theorems of those systems on ${\mathbb{R}}^n$, we obtain the singularity estimates of the positive $C^1$-weak solutions on bounded or unbounded domain (but it is not ${\mathbb{R}}^n$ and their decay rates on the exterior domain when ${\mid}x{\mid}{\rightarrow}{\infty}$. The doubling lemma which is developed by Polacik-Quittner-Souplet plays a key role in this paper. In addition, the corresponding results of several special examples are presented.

  • The boundary element method was used for studying singularities of an interface crack with contact zones. The iterative procedure is applied to estimate the contact zone size. Because the contact zone size was extremely small in a tension field, a large number of Gaussian points were used for numerical integration of the Kernels. Stress extrapolation method and J-integral were used ofr determining stress intensity factors. When the interface crack was assumed to have opened tips, oscillatory singularities appear near the tips of the interface crack. But the interface crack with contact zone which Comninou suggested had no oscillatory behavior. The contact zone size under shear loading was much larger than that under tensile. The stress intensity factors computed by stress extrapolation method were close to those of Comninou's solution. And the stress intensity factor evaluated by J-integral was similar to that by stress extrapolation method.

  • Let M be an n-dimensional complete simply connected Riemannian manifold with sectional curvature bounded above by a nonpositive constant $-{\kappa}^2$. Using the cone total curvature TC($\Gamma$) of a graph $\Gamma$ which was introduced by Gulliver and Yamada [8], we prove that the density at any point of a soap film-like surface $\Sigma$ spanning a graph $\Gamma\;\subset\;M$ is less than or equal to $\frac{1}{2\pi}\{TC(\Gamma)-{\kappa}^2Area(p{\times}\Gamma)\}$. From this density estimate we obtain the regularity theorems for soap film-like surfaces spanning graphs with small total curvature. In particular, when n = 3, this density estimate implies that if $TC(\Gamma)$ < $3.649{\pi}\;+\;{\kappa}^2\inf\limits_{p{\in}F}Area(p{\times}{\Gamma})$, then the only possible singularities of a piecewise smooth (M, 0, $\delta$)-minimizing set $\Sigma$ are the Y-singularity cone. In a manifold with sectional curvature bounded above by $b^2$ and diameter bounded by $\pi$/b, we obtain similar results for any soap film-like surfaces spanning a graph with the corresponding bound on cone total curvature.

  • This study presents the wave forces for spar platforms. The advantage of spar platform is that it is easy to manufacture and excellency to motion characteristics. It is important to estimate exactly wave force acting spar platforms for basic design of them. We measured the wave exciting force for classic spar and truss spar model, and accomplished the numerical calculation using diffraction theory. The results show that experimental values are good agreement with theoretical values. But it is difficult to estimate accurate value considering the heave plate of truss spar due to the viscosity.

  • In this paper, we introduce a case of a fire accident during parking of a large truck that is repeatedly occurring. The shape and location of the combustion and electrical singularity commonly found in other vehicle fire accidents could limit the starter motor as the ignition section. In addition, it was possible to confirm the electrical melting singularity that could act as a cause of ignition between the start motor B terminal and the start motor enclosure. By combining the above investigations and investigations, it was possible to estimate the electric fire expressed from insulation breaking of the starter motor B terminal, and by using the renewable starter motor comparison product mounted on the fire vehicle, an experiment was performed to reproduce the ignition process from the starter motor under specific conditions. So. It is hoped that this will raise awareness about vehicle fires, which can lead to large fires or casualties, share the risks of using starter motors for regeneration, and help in the rapid and accurate investigation of similar vehicle fires in the future.

  • In image jacobian based visual servoing, generally, inverse jacobian should be calculated by complicated coordinate transformations. These are required excessive computation and the singularity of the image jacobian should be considered. This paper presents a visual servoing to control the pose of the robotic manipulator for tracking and grasping 3-D moving object whose pose and motion parameters are unknown. Because the object is in motion tracking and grasping must be done on-line and the controller must have continuous learning ability. In order to estimate parameters of a moving object we use the kalman filter. And for tracking and grasping a moving object we use a fuzzy inference based reinforcement learning algorithm of dynamic recurrent neural networks. Computer simulation results are presented to demonstrate the performance of this visual servoing

  • In this paper, we study on a modified mesh generation method based on the pollution error estimate. This method is designed for the control of the pollution error in any patch of elements of interest. It is a well-known fact that the pollution error estimates are much more than the local one. Reliable a posteriori error estimation is possible by controlling the pollution error in the patch through proper design of the mesh outside the patch. This design is possible by equally distributing the pollution error indicators over the mesh outside the patch. The conventional feedback pollution-adaptive mesh generation algorithm needs many iterations. Therefore, the solution time is significant. But we use the remeshing scheme in the proposed method. We will also show that the pollution error reduces less than the local error.

  • This paper introduces a new energy function, as maximum a posteriori(MAP) estimate of binocular disparity, that can deal with both random dot stereo-gram(RDS) and natural scenes. The energy function uses phase-magnitude as features to detect only the shift for a pair of corrupted conjugate images. Also we adopted Fleet singularity that effectively detects unstable areas of image plant and thus eliminates in advance error-prone stereo mathcing. The multi-scale concept is applied to the multi laser architecture that can search the solutions systematically from coarse to fine details and thereby avoids drastically the local minima. Using mean field approximation, we obtained a compact representation that is suitable for fast computation. In this manner, the energy function satisfies major natural constraints and requirements for implementing parallel relaxation. As an experiment, the proposed algorithm is applied to RDS and natural stereo images. As a result we will see that it reveals good performance in terms of recognition errors, parallel implementation, and noise characteristics.
