The hybrid composites of aliphatic polyester-silica were prepared via a sol-gel reaction and their potential application using as a buffer coating layer in the thermoelectric device were investigated. When aliphatic polyesters were thermally treated at a high temperature of $240^{\circ}C$, the polymer showed an increases in thermal degradation temperature by $30{\sim}90^{\circ}C$ according to the thermal treatment time. The polyester-silica composites showed an increases in thermal degradation temperature by $30{\sim}50^{\circ}C$ according to the content of the added silica. Polyester-silica composite showed neither discoloration nor change in optical properties because Knoevenagel condensation reaction was hindered by silica structure. The thermal conductivity of the composites increased linearly according to the content of added silica.
PTMSP-silica composite membranes were prepared by addition of 0, 15, 20, and 30 wt% TEOS (tetraethoxysilane), TMOS (tetramethoxysilane), MTMOS (methyltrimethoxysilane), and PTMOS (phenyltrimethoxysilane) contents to PTMSP using sol-gel process. The gas permeability of the composite membranes for $H_2$, $N_2$ and ideal selectivity for $H_2$ over $N_2$ were investigated as a function of alkoxysilane content. The permeabilities for $H_2$ and $N_2$ increased in the range of alkoxysilane contents 0~20 wt%, however decrease the range of 20~30 wt%. The ideal selectivities for $H_2$ over $N_2$ decreased in the range of TEOS and PTMOS contents 0~15 wt%, but increased in the range of 15~30 wt%. When compared to the upper bound of Robeson, PTMSP-silica composite membranes with TEOS content of 30 wt%, MTMOS content of 20 wt% and PTMOS content of 30 wt% turned out to be a simultaneous improvement in ideal selectivity and permeability.
Epoxy-based composites find extensive application in electronic packaging due to their excellent processability and insulation properties. However, conventional epoxy-based polymers exhibit limitations in terms of thermal properties and insulation performance. In this study, we develop epoxy-based siloxane/silica composites that enhance the thermal, mechanical, and insulating properties of epoxy resins. This is achieved by employing a sol-gel-synthesized siloxane hybrid and spherical fused silica particles. Herein, we fabricate two types of epoxy-based siloxane/silica composites with different siloxane molecular structures (branched and linear siloxane networks) and investigate the changes in their properties for different compositions (with or without silica particles) and siloxane structures. The presence of a branched siloxane structure results in hardness and low insulating properties, while a linear siloxane structure yields softness and highly insulating properties. Both types of epoxy-based siloxane/silica composites exhibit high thermal stability and low thermal expansion. These properties are considerably improved by incorporating silica particles. We expect that our developed epoxy-based composites to hold significant potential as advanced electronic packaging materials, offering high-performance and robustness.
To control the pore size of silcia gel, formamide (FA), N,N-dimethyl formamide (DMF), polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polyacrylic acid (PAA) were added in the sol-gel process from starting solution with tetramethyl orthosilicate (TMOS). The gels were characterized using porosimeter, TG-DTA and SEM. As a result, the more contents of FA and PAA was increased the more gelation time was decreased, also the more contents of DMF and PEG was increased the more gelling time was increased. The mean pore size of gels was larger in the order of PAA, DMF, FA and PEG. And the mean pore size of porous silica glass was 59.0$\AA$, 31.5$\AA$, 29.9$\AA$ and 29.0$\AA$, respectively, heated at 75$0^{\circ}C$/100$0^{\circ}C$.
Deoxynivalenol producing isolates of Fusarium Graminearum R 6576 was grown on rice for 25 days at 19,25 and $28^{\circ}C$. Maximum production of deoxynivalenol(DON) by Fusarium graminearum R 6575 occurred at $28^{\circ}C$ and 20 days. Maximum concentration of 940 ppm DON were obtained after 20 days at an initial moisture content of 40%. A DON derivative, 15-acetyl-DON (15-ADON), was also found at concentrations of 150~300ppm after 5~10 days. Crude culture extracts were purified by water-saturated silica gel column chromatography which selectivity extracted DON when methylene chloride was as the mobile phase. Purity of crystallized DON was verified by thin layer and high performance liquid chromatography. Also this method was advantage method or production of DON and require little organic sorbent than the other methods.
We report that the crack-free organic-inorganic hybrid silica thin films were fabricated by sol-gel process using organometallic compounds as a precursor and that we have established very reproducible fabrication condition with systematic investigation of thickness and refractive index variations for various control parameters, such as, coating type, coating speed, chemical composition, prebake and postbake temperature. Additionally, we measured and compared the change of optical property with the UV exposure dose for three different kinds of photoinitiators. Furthermore, the fabrication of Ix4 MMI optical power splitter using the sol-gel thin film provides the possibility of various applications to the optical waveguide devices. vices.

We report on the polarization-insensitive design and fabrication of an arrayed waveguide gratings (AWG's) using sol-gel derived silica glass films formed on fused silica substrates to provide cheap and stable tools for better design. An arrayed-waveguide grating multiplexer with raised structure is fabricated in order to effect polarization sensitivity. Since polarization is usually not known after propagation in an optical fiber. passive WDM components such as monolithic wavelength demultiplexer have to be polarization insensitive. Here, we observed that polarization have effect on crosstalk of output spectrum in arrayed-waveguide grating
Colloidal Silica(CS)/methyltrimethoxy silane(MTMS) sol solutions were prepared in variation with synthesizing parameters such as kinds of CS, acidity and reaction time. In order to understand its surface properties, sol-gel coating films on glass were fabricated. The coating film obtained from CS/MTMS sol had stable contact angle and more enhanced flat surface at reaction time of 24 hours. In case of the initial and final period of reaction, the coating films had unstable contact angle and more rough surface. In addition, surface of CS/MTMS sol-gel coating film was more rougher with increasing of acidity.
