비기능성 부갑상선 낭종 1예 (Non Functioning Parathyroid Cyst : A Case Report)

  • Parathyroid cyst are rare lesion of the neck and superior mediastinum. They are classified as either functional or nonfunctional based on the presence or absence of hyperparathyroidism. They typically present as a palpable neck mass, or as an incidental finding during neck surgery. So, it must be included within the differential diagnosis of a neck lump. A 48-year old woman was admitted to our hospital for evaluation of left anterior neck mass. Physical finding showed soft, movable, non-tender mass on the lower left third of the neck. Laboratory findings revealed normal thyroid function and normal serum calcium level. On previous history, patient underwent two times sono-guided fine needle aspiration at local clinic, and about 10cc clear watery aspirate was noted. Computerized tomography findings showed non-enhancing hypodense cystic lesion on left thyroid area with tracheal deviation to right side. Preoperative diagnosis was thyroid cyst, and thyroidectomy was planed. Intra-operative finding showed huge cystic mass occupying the left thyroid area and smooth, shiny, semitransparent thin cyst wall was noted, which was loosely attached to the thyroid. The cyst was easily dissected free from the thyroid and surrounding tissues. After cyst removal, pathological study confirmed as a parathyroid cyst.

  • n형 InGaAs에 대한 Pd/Ge계 오믹 특성을 조사하였다. 급속 열처리 방법에 의해 $400^{\circ}C$까지 우수한 오믹 특성을 나타내어 low-10-6$\Omega\textrm{cm}^2$의 접촉 비저항을 보였으나, $425^{\circ}C$이 상에서는 오믹 금속과 InGaAs간의 상화 확산 및 상반응에 의해 오믹 특성이 저하되었다. $350^{\circ}C$이하에서는 상변화가 발생하지 않았지만, $375^{\circ}C$부근에서 상변태가 시작되어 $425^{\circ}C$이상 에서는 현저한 상변화가 관찰되었다. $425^{\circ}C$에서 열처리한 후에도 오믹 금속과 InGaAs와의 계면이 매우 평탄하였고, 오믹 금속의 표면도 $400^{\circ}C$까지 평탄하고 광택 있는 표면을 유지하 였다.

토마토녹응애의 형태, 생태 및 방제 (Morphology, Biology and Chemical Control of Tomato Russet mite, Aculops lycopersici Massee (Acari: Eriophyidae) in Korea)

  • 토마토녹응애(개칭)에 대해 주사전자현미경 관찰, 국내 분포, 기주식물, 온도에 따른 발육상, 약제 방제법에 관하여 연구하였다. 토마토녹응애는 2쌍의 다리를 가진 길이 $134.9\mu\textrm{m}$의 미소동물로 feathered claw는 4줄이었다. 피해증상으로, 피해엽은 적갈색으로 변하고 줄기에는 털이 없어지고 광택이 나거나 표면이 그물형으로 갈라지며, 새순은 시들거나 위축된다. 과일은 과경 부근에 그을음이나 녹이 긴 것 같이 되고, 그물형으로 갈라진다. 충남의 부여와 유성, 강원도 평창, 경북의 칠곡, 구룡포의 유리온실에서 발견되었으며, 한국에서 기주로는 메꽃, 까마중, 가지, 꽈리, 나팔꽃, 페투니아, 감자, 고추, 담배, 토마토 등이 확인되었다. 이 응애는 $15-30^{\circ}C$에서 발육이 가능하였고, 한 세대는 6-11일로 높은 온도일수록 발육기간이 짧아지는 경향이었으며, 암컷이 수컷보다 수명이 길었는데, 25-28$^{\circ}C$에서 12일로 가장 수명이 길었다. 살비제 중에서 fenazaquin과 cypermethrin의 효과가 가장 좋았다.

  • 한반도 미기록 식물 Polygonum plebeium R.Br. (Polygonaceae)은 충청남도 부여군 금강 지역에서 처음 확인되었다. 그 외 경기도 구리시 갈매동 경작지 주변, 충청북도 제천시 한수면 충주호 주변에 대단위 군락이 분포하는 것으로 확인되었으며, 최근 옥천군 군북면 대청호, 대전광역시 대청호 일대에서도 확인되었다. 본종은 비교적 넓은 분포역을 가지고 자생하고 있으며, 근연분류군인 P. aviculare L. (마디풀)과 비교하여 소화경 중간위치에 관절이 있으며, 수과가 매끄럽고 윤채가 있는 특징으로 구별된다. 전체적으로 소형인 식물체로, 형태적 특징을 고려하여 한국명을 '애기마디풀'로 신칭하였고, 형태적 특징과 도해 및 생태사진을 제시하였다.

  • In the 17th century, men's hair style showed a dramatical change to thick hair style with femineity. During the 17th century, men wore their hair longer than at any other time in the history of western culture. Men's hairs in the early 17th century were defined as short hair style influenced by ruff collar of renaissance and thick beards and moustaches During the mid 17th century, shoulder-length hair style was predominant over all classes. As hair style became long, beards and moustaches gradually declined in favour: from 1625, small neat beards, and moustaches turned up at the ends, got progressively smaller, and by 1650 the beard was only small tuft on the chin, disappearing completely by 1680. In the late 17th century, very long, thick and shiny hair got a great popularity with the gorgeous and decorative baroque costume dominated over the entire Europe. The habit of adding false hair when natural hair was deficient led to the introduction of the periwig, which became an essential part of a fashionable man's attire. Wiggery were widely used to express curled and puffed hairs more exaggerated. As the long hair style with wiggery became popular, various style of beard and moustache got smallar so that they were ended up in entire disappearance in the end of the 17th century.

A Study on the Red Carpet Dress of Film Festivals in the Great China Region

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the basic materials necessary for red carpet fashion design by examining the formativeness and fashion images of red carpet dresses at film festivals in the Great China Region. For the purpose of this study, research methods include a literature review on the origin and significance of red carpet dresses, the characteristics of film festivals in the Great China Region and their red carpet dresses as well as an analysis of the formative features and images of 615 red carpet dresses collected from each film festival official homepage, diverse media articles, and online search sites (www.google.com, www.hao123.com). The research finding can be summarized as follows: First, the formative features of red carpet dress designs were analyzed herein. It was found that the most frequently appearing type of silhouette was straight followed by hourglass and bulk in order. More specifically these included fit and flare, mermaid, trapeze, and slim in order. For the neckline styles, strapless was the most frequently seen followed by camisole, jewel, and one shoulder. Solid colors were more often seen than multiple colors. Bk, W, R, and YR were the most frequent main solid colors in order. Solid materials were frequent as well, such as soft and shiny materials. Non-patterned and unadorned styles were most frequent as for pattern types and details and trimmings. Second, the fashion images of red carpet dresses in the Great China Region were analyzed. The most frequent images were elegant, feminine, ethnic, modern, classic, avant-garde, others, mannish and sportive, in order.

Anodic Oxidation Behavior of AZ31 Magnesium Alloy in Aqueous Electrolyte Containing Various Na2CO3 Concentrations

  • In this work, anodic oxidation behavior of AZ31 Mg alloy was studied as a function of $Na_2CO_3$ concentration in electrolyte by voltage-time curves and observation of surface appearances and morphologies after the anodic treatments, using optical microscopy and confocal scanning laser microscopy (CSLM). The voltage-time curves of AZ31 Mg alloy surface and surface appearances after the anodic treatments showed three different regions with $Na_2CO_3$ concentration : region I, below 0.2 M $Na_2CO_3$ where shiny surface with a number of small size pits; region II, between 0.4 M and 0.6 M $Na_2CO_3$ where dark surface with relatively low number of large size burned or dark spots; region III, more than 0.8 M $Na_2CO_3$ where bright surface with or without large size dark spots were obtained. The anodically treated AZ31 Mg alloy surface became significantly brightened with increasing $Na_2CO_3$ concentration from 0.5 M to 0.8 M which was attribute to the formation of denser and smoother surface films. Pits and porous protruding reaction products were found at relatively large size and small size spots, respectively, on the AZ31 Mg alloy surface in low concentration of $Na_2CO_3$ less than 0.2 M. The formation of pits is attributed to the result of repetition of the formation and detachment of porous anodic reaction products. Based on the experimental results obtained in this work, it is concluded that more uniform, denser and smoother surface of AZ31 Mg alloy could be obtained at more than 0.8 M $Na_2CO_3$ concentration if there is no other oxide forming agent.

작업환경측정 결과 데이터베이스를 활용한 직무노출매트릭스 구축을 위한 공정 표준화 (Process Standardization for the Construction of Job-Exposure Matrix Using the Work Environment Measurement Database)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to standardize the process code of the work environment measurement database (WEMD) for the construction of a job-exposure matrix (JEM). Methods: The standard process code (SPC) was reclassified based on process similarity and drawing upon the code used in the existing K2B. It was supplemented through review by industrial hygiene experts. In addition, an index word database related to SPC was created and used for SPC search. A pilot evaluation project was conducted by experts to evaluate the validity of the newly reclassified standard process code. Results: A total of 70 final SPCs were developed, including 31 processes related to the construction industry. Using the Shiny program, we developed a standard code finder that can be used on the web (https://kscf.shinyapps.io/scf_app/). As a result of the pilot evaluation, it was determined that it was easier to search for standard codes than previous codes, so it was highly utilized. Conclusions: It is expected that JEM construction using industry-process information drawing on WEMD data will be possible using the 70 newly standardized process codes.

Bioinformatic analyses reveal the prognostic significance and potential role of ankyrin 3 (ANK3) in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma

  • Kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) is one of the most aggressive cancer type of the urinary system. Metastatic KIRC patients have poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. Ankyrin 3 (ANK3) is a scaffold protein that plays important roles in maintaining physiological function of the kidney and its alteration is implicated in many cancers. In this study, we investigated differential expression of ANK3 in KIRC using GEPIA2, UALCAN, and HPA databases. Survival analysis was performed by GEPIA2, Kaplan-Meier plotter, and OS-kirc databases. Genetic alterations of ANK3 in KIRC were assessed using cBioPortal database. Interaction network and functional enrichment analyses of ANK3-correlated genes in KIRC were performed using GeneMANIA and Shiny GO, respectively. Finally, the TIMER2.0 database was used to assess correlation between ANK3 expression and immune infiltration in KIRC. We found that ANK3 expression was significantly decreased in KIRC compared to normal tissues. The KIRC patients with low ANK3 expression had poorer survival outcomes than those with high ANK3 expression. ANK3 mutations were found in 2.4% of KIRC patients and were frequently co-mutated with several genes with a prognostic significance. ANK3-correlated genes were significantly enriched in various biological processes, mainly involved in peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) signaling pathway, in which positive correlations of ANK3 with PPARA and PPARG expressions were confirmed. Expression of ANK3 in KIRC was significantly correlated with infiltration level of B cell, CD8+ T cell, macrophage, and neutrophil. These findings suggested that ANK3 could serve as a prognostic biomarker and promising therapeutic target for KIRC.

Influence of basal medium formulations and silver nanoparticles on in vitro plant growth in gerbera

  • This study investigated the impact of two distinct MS basal media: one containing FeNaEDTA and the other FeEDDHA, on the growth of five unique gerbera cultivars (Shy Pink, Pink Holic, Breeze, Harmony, Snow Dream). Notably, the response to these media types varied significantly among the cultivars, particularly concerning leaf yellowing and plant growth. 'Shiny Pink' and 'Pink Holic' exhibited leaf yellowing on the FeNaEDTA-containing medium but displayed leaf greening on the FeEDDHA-containing medium. In contrast, 'Snow Dream,' 'Harmony,' and 'Breeze' remained unaffected on both medium types. However, the FeNaEDTA-containing medium promoted higher plant height and petiole length in 'Breeze,' 'Harmony,' and 'Snow Dream' than the FeNaEDTA-containing medium did. A promotive effect of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on plant growth and leaf greening was observed in 'Pink Holic,' particularly on the FeNaEDTA-containing medium, while the addition of AgNPs to the FeEDDHA-containing medium negatively affected plant growth. These results highlight the substantial influence of medium type, specifically the presence of FeNaEDTA or FeEDDHA, on gerbera growth responses, emphasizing the critical role of medium selection in gerbera propagation. Additionally, when contemplating the addition of AgNPs for in vitro gerbera propagation, it is crucial to consider the medium type.
