  • In this paper we obtain a "compactness" result that asserts the existence, in certain sets of sequences, of a sequence which has a maximal reciprocal sum. We derive this result from a much more general theorem which will be proved by introducing a metric into the set of sequences and using a topological argument.

  • In this paper, we introduce the concepts of Wijsman invariant statistical, Wijsman deferred invariant statistical and Wijsman strongly deferred invariant convergence of order 𝜂 (0 < 𝜂 ≤ 1) for set sequences. Also, we investigate some properties of these concepts and some relationships between them.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of asymptotical deferred statistical equivalence in the Wijsman sense for double set sequences. Also, we give some properties of this concept and prove some theorems associated with this concept. Furthermore, we examine the connection between the concepts of asymptotical deferred statistical and Cesàro equivalence in the Wijsman sense for double set sequences.

  • In this paper, for double set sequences, as a new approach to the notion of Wijsman asymptotical lacunary statistical equivalence of order 𝜂, we introduce new concepts which are called Wijsman asymptotical ${\mathcal{I}}_2$-lacunary statistical equivalence of order 𝜂 and Wijsman asymptotical strong ${\mathcal{I}}_2$-lacunary equivalence of order 𝜂 where 0 < 𝜂 ≤ 1. Also, some properties of these new concepts are investigated, and the existence of some relations between these and some previously studied asymptotical equivalence concepts for double set sequences is examined.

  • In this paper, we introduce new random iterative sequences with errors approximating a unique random common fixed point for three random set-valued strongly pseudo-contractive mappings and show the convergence of the random iterative sequences with errors by using an approximation method in real uniformly smooth separable Banach spaces. As applications, we study the existence of random solutions for some kind of random nonlinear operator equations group in separable Hilbert spaces.

  • Multiple acceleration sequences of earthquake ground motions have been observed in many regions of the world. Such ground motions can cause large damage to the structures due to accumulation of inelastic deformation from the repeated sequences. The dynamic analysis of inelastic structures under repeated acceleration sequences generated from simulated and recorded accelerograms without sequences has been recently studied. However, the characteristics of recorded earthquake ground motions of multiple sequences have not been studied yet. This paper investigates the gross characteristics of earthquake records of multiple sequences from an engineering perspective. The definition of the effective number of acceleration sequences of the ground shaking is introduced. The implication of the acceleration sequences on the structural response and damage of inelastic structures is also studied. A set of sixty accelerograms is used to demonstrate the general properties of repeated acceleration sequences and to investigate the associated structural inelastic response.

  • The crest factor distribution of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol sequences is evaluated and it is shown that OFDM symbol sequences with a short period are expected to have a high crest factor. The crest factor relationship between two input symbol sequences, Hamming distance D apart is also derived. Using these two results, we propose two criteria for a phase sequence set of the selected mapping (SLM) scheme and suggest the rows of the cyclic Hadamard matrix constructed from an m-sequence as the near optimal phase sequence set of the SLM scheme.

  • In this paper, we present a new method for generating a set of complementary sequences that can be simultaneously transmitted and yet compressed into a short pulse on reveive, and its application to ultrasound imaging. This new complementary sequences can be designed based on a filter bank theory. The new complementary sequences can be used to improve the SNR of ultrasound imaging without sacrificing the spatial resolution and frame rate, compared to conventional pulse-echo imaging. Computer simulations are performed to verify the proposed method.
