사회비교와 자기비교의 두 과정에 관한 분석 (An Analysis on the Two Processes of Social Comparison and Self-Comparison)

  • 본 연구에서는 사람들이 흔히 경험하는 사회비교와 자기비교의 두 과정을 비교하여 살펴보고, 이와 관련된 이론들이 어떻게 응용될 수 있는지를 시사하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 사회비교이론에 해당하는 이론으로서 사회비교 이론과 자기평가유지모형을, 그리고 자기비교이론이라 할 수 있는 제어이론, 자기차이이론, 조절초점이론 및 시점비교이론을 차례로 개관하였다. 사회비교와 자기비교의 과정은 차이가 있지만, 이 두 비교 모두, 자기평가, 정서, 동기 및 행동에 영향을 미친다는 점에서는 유사하다. 사회비교와 자기비교에 관련된 연구들이 교육문제, 건강문제, 경제정의 및 대인관계 등에 대하여 지니는 응용적 함의들을 논의하였다.

사회비교와 행복의 관계에서 문화적 자기관의 역할 (The Moderation Effect of Cultural Self-construal on a Social Comparison and Happiness)

  • 본 연구는 사회비교와 행복의 관계에 미치는 문화적 자기관의 영향을 살펴보기 위해 수행되었다. 사회비교와 행복은 부적관계에 있다고 알려져 있지만 사회비교의 결과는 비교 당사자의 자기인식과 비교동기에 따라 달라진다는 견해 역시 존재한다. 본 연구는 문화적 자기관이 사회비교와 행복에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 전국 5대 권역(수도권, 강원, 충청, 전라, 경상)에서 표집한 권역 당 4개 연령대(30대, 40대, 50대, 60대) 각 100명씩, 총 2,000명을 대상으로 문화적 자기관(상호협조적 자기, 주체성-대상성 자기), 사회비교경향, 주관적 안녕감 및 심리적 안녕감을 조사하였다. 연구의 결과를 요약하면, 첫째, 상호협조적 자기는 사회비교와 정적상관을, 행복과는 부적상관을 보였고, 둘째, 상호협조적 자기가 높은 사람들은 사회비교를 많이 할수록 주관적 안녕감이 낮았지만, 낮은 사람들은 사회비교가 행복에 영향을 끼치지 않았다. 셋째, 대상성 자기가 높은 사람들은 사회비교를 많이 할수록 행복이 낮았지만, 주체성 자기가 높은 사람들은 사회비교가 행복에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이를 바탕으로 사회비교의 결과에 영향을 미치는 자기관의 성격과 행복의 문화적 의미 등에 대해 논의하였다.

대학생의 통제감, 사회비교추구성향 및 자기효능감이 건강행위에 미치는 영향 (The Relationship between Self-control Behavior, Social Comparison Attitude, Self-efficacy and Health Promotion Activities of College Students)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between self-control behavior, social comparison attitude, self-efficacy and health promotion activities of college students who had health related majors (nursing, dental hygiene, health administration). Methods: The subjects consisted of 413 college students. Data were collected by self reported questionnaires that were designed to evaluate self-control behavior, social attitudes, self-efficacy and health promotion lifestyle (HPLP). Data were analyzed using the SPSS/PC win 14.0 program. Results: Upward & parallel comparison, self-efficacy and parents income were positively correlated with health promotion activities by college students. The most significant predictors of health promotion activities for college students were self-efficacy and self-control behavior. Conclusion: Health promotion activities for college students are influenced by self-efficacy, self-control behavior, and upward comparison. In conclusion, to increase the health promotion activities of college students, methods designed to increase self-efficacy should be prepared while considering the self-control behavior and comparative propensity towards others.

초임부와 경임부의 자기리더십과 자가간호 비교 (The Comparison of Self-leadership and Self-care in Primigravida and Multigravida)

  • Purpose: This study investigates the degree of self-leadership and self-care in primigravida and multigravida. Method: For this study, the questionnaires were given to 90 primigravida, 95 multigravida who visit woman hospital in Taegu and collected during the period from 16th February to 26th March, 2004. Data were analyzed by SPSS Wins. Result: The degree of self-leadership and self-care in primigravida was higher than multigravida. The comparison of self-leadership and self-care by the demographic characteristics between primigravida and multigravida were as follows; there was statistically significant difference according to education in self-leadership; age, education, religion, occupation, economic status and type of family in thought self-leadership; age, religion and occupation in self-care. The comparison of self-leadership and self-care by the obstetric characteristics between primigravida and multigravida were as follows; there was statistically significant difference according to frequency of abortion in self-leadership, self-management and natural reward; frequency of abortion, period of pregnancy and attending of childbirth education in thought self-leadership; frequency of abortion and period of pregnancy in self-care. Conclusion: Primigravida in self-leadership and self-care would have higher than those of multigravida. Further study needs to be done to identify in primigravida and multigravida. Also it should be developed self-leadership promoting programs for multigravida.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships among self-esteem, physical appearance comparison, media concern, sociocultural attitude toward appearance, body attitudes, and life satisfaction. Data were collected from a convenience sample of 232 female undergraduate students. Data were analyzed using factor analysis, correlation, and multiple regression. The result showed that there was a correlation between physical appearance comparison and media concern. Self-esteem, physical appearance comparison, and media concern had an indirect influence on body attitudes through sociocultural attitude toward appearance. Self-esteem and physical appearance comparison had a direct effect on body attitude. All variables did not have an influence on life satisfaction, except self-esteem.

청소년의 신체비교와 신체만족도가 대인관계적응에 미치는 영향과 자존감의 매개효과 (Body Comparison and Body Satisfaction Influence on Adaptation of Interpersonal Relationships and the Mediating Effects of Self-Esteem among Adolescents)

  • This study provides a basis for the development of lesson plans and teaching programs associated with the appearance in the adaptation of interpersonal relationships. This study was analyzed adolescents' body comparison and body satisfaction related in the adaptation of interpersonal relationships, and the effectiveness of self-esteem mediation. The survey was conducted among 587 adolescents in Gwangju. The data was analyzed using SPSS ver. 19.0 for Windows: frequency, means, factor analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The results indicated that body comparison and body satisfaction effected the adaptation of interpersonal relationships among adolescents consequently, it is necessary to develop lesson plans and teaching programs related to awareness, and improve appearance. A body comparison with similar aged people did not affect self-esteem; however, it is necessary to improve body satisfaction because it affects self-esteem. Self-esteem was also the mediating role between the adaptation of body satisfaction and interpersonal relationships, sub-factors, adaptation of relationships with friends, adaptation of relationship with teachers, adaptation of relationships with parents. It is important that body satisfaction and self-esteem is key factor in planning training programs, and improving the capacity of adolescents adaptation of interpersonal relationships.

중학생의 SNS 상향비교가 우울에 미치는 영향: 자기비하의 매개 효과와 인지적 유연성의 조절된 매개효과 (Effect of Upward Social Comparison in SNS on Depression among Middle School Students: The Mediating Effect of Self-Deprecation and the Moderated Mediating Effect of Cognitive Flexibility)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of middle school students'self-deprecation in the relationship between upward social comparison in social network service (SNS) and depression and the moderated mediating effect of cognitive flexibility. The participants were 288 middle school students, in the first to third grades from four middle schools located in Seoul, Gyeong-gi, and Jeonnam. The date were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients and the Process Macro Model 4, 1, and 14. The results of this study are as follows. First, an upward comparison in SNS has a significant positive influence on students'depression, and students' self-deprecation of students mediated the relation between two. Second, the level of control, which is a sub-factor of cognitive flexibility, moderated the mediating effect of self-deprecation. That is, if students are more likely to perceive difficult situations as controllable, upward social comparison in SNS mediated by self-deprecation has smaller effect on depression. Based on these results, we suggest practical interventions to reduce depression among middle school students by decreasing upward social comparison in SNS and self-deprecation. In addition, helping students perceive difficult situations as controllable could be another effective way of reducing depression among those students who have a high level of self-deprecation in upward social comparison in SNS.

페이스북 유저의 상향 비교와 사회적 지지가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 (What Makes People use Facebook? Focusing on Effect of Upward Comparison and Social Support on Life Satisfaction Mediated by Self-esteem)

  • This study investigates an association among Facebook users' upward comparison (e.g., envy), social support (e.g., favorable comments and like), and life satisfaction, putting their self-esteem as a mediating variable. For this analysis, 1,332 female and male Facebook users in Seoul and other four cities in South Korea were surveyed. Structural equation modeling including confirmative factor analysis were employed as quantitative analysis methods. Results show that Facebook users' upward comparison with other users and social support significantly impact their satisfaction mediated by their self-esteem. Specifically, when users feel envious of other users, this emotion lowers their self-esteem, and subsequently, the self-esteem reduces their satisfaction. On the other hand, sufficient social support for users positively affects their self-esteem, which leads to the increase of their satisfaction. The present study is differentiated from previous studies in that it focuses on Facebook users' emotional changes in the process of sharing massive amounts of posts and finds a stepwise relationship among their feelings, including self-esteem as a mediating variable. Additionally, this study is the first to verify a situation when Facebook users' envy of other users' posts affects the decline in their satisfaction through the mediation of their self-esteem.

조종사의 비행수행 능력과 자존감이 비행비교상황에서 위험행동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Pilots' Flight Skill and Self-Esteem on Risk Taking in the Context of Social Comparison)

  • 조종사의 비행수행능력과 자존감이 비행비교 상황에서 위험행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 비행교육과정 조종사 48명을 대상으로 시뮬레이터 상황실험을 실시하였다. 피험자간 변인으로서 비행수행능력(비행등수)과 자존감 척도로 각각의 높고 낮은 그룹으로 나누어 안전규칙상 착륙이 허가되지 않는 활주로 접근 시뮬레이션 상황을 수행하게 하였다. 접근 상황은 피험자 내 설계로 세 번에 걸쳐 측정하였고, 동일한 각각의 상황실험 수행 직전에 실험참가자에게 다른 사람들의 수행결과를 조작(긍정비교, 부정비교, 통제)하여 제시하였다. 실험참가자의 위험행동은 접근한 고도를 통하여 측정하였다. 실험 결과 각 제시 조건에 따라 위험행동이 유의미하게 차이가 나타났고, 각 비교조건에서의 위험행동 경향은 비행수행능력과 자존감의 수준에 따라 달라지는 상호작용 효과가 나타났다. 비행수행능력이 낮은 집단은 비교조건들에서 통제조건과 달리 위험한 행동을 하는 것으로 나타났고 비행수행능력이 높은 집단은 부정비교조건에서 다른 조건들과 달리 위험을 회피하는 경향을 보였다. 자존감이 높은 집단은 통제조건에 비해 비교조건들에서 유의미한 위험행동을 보인 반면, 자존감이 낮은 집단은 다른 조건들에 비해 부정적 비교조건에서 유의미한 위험회피행동을 보였다.

대학 신입생을 위한 심리적 진로장벽 해소 집단프로그램이 심리적 진로장벽, 진로결정 자기효능감과 자기결정성에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of a Group Program Designed to Resolve the Psychological Career Barriers of University Freshmen on Their Psychological Career Barriers, Self-Efficacy in Career Decision-Making, and Self-Determination)

  • 본 연구는 대학 신입생이 느끼는 심리적 진로장벽 해소를 위한 집단프로그램을 구성하여 적용하고, 심리적 진로장벽, 진로결정 자기효능감과 자기결정성에 미치는 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 처치집단에 8명, 비교집단에 9명을 할당하여 처치집단에는 7회기에 해당하는 심리적 진로장벽 해소 집단프로그램을 실시하고 비교집단에는 아무런 처치를 하지 않았다. 프로그램의 효과를 알아보기 위해 처치집단과 비교집단 각각 사전검사와 사후검사로 심리적 진로장벽, 진로결정 자기효능감, 자기결정성검사를 실시한 후 사전 사후 차이 검증을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 심리적 진로장벽점수는 비교집단에 비해 처치집단의 점수가 유의하게 낮아진 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 진로결정 자기효능감점수는 비교집단에 비해 처치집단의 점수가 유의하게 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자기결정성점수는 비교집단에 비해 처치집단의 점수가 유의하게 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 본 집단프로그램은 대학 신입생의 심리적 진로장벽 인식을 낮추고 진로결정 자기효능감과 자기결정성을 향상시키는 데 효과가 있었다. 본 연구결과의 활용과 향후 연구에 대해 논의하였다.
