  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how the variables of parenting styles and dependency on the smart phone affect college students' satisfaction to campus life, to seek the better ways for the college students to fit into the new environment, and to offer the practical tips based on our findings. In this study, we applied the regression analysis to verify the relationship among the variables related to the satisfaction to university life and the mediating effect of dependency on the smart phone. The results of this study suggest that the positive rearing attitude, which is the subfactor of parenting styles, has a negative effect on the dependency on the smart phone, and that dependency on the smart phone has a negative effect on the satisfaction to college life. At the same time it is found out that the negative rearing attitude has a positive effect on dependency on the smart phone, and that dependency on the smart phone has a negative effect on the satisfaction to the college life. In addition, the dependency on the smart phone has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between the positive/negative rearing attitudes and dependency on the smart phone. Based on these findings, we recommended the better ways to improve college students' satisfaction to their college lives.

  • Background: Despite increasing the number of newly licensed nurses across Korea, shortages caused by geographical imbalances remains a significant concern. Therefore, understanding nursing students' attitudes to working and living, factors influencing where they first choose to work after graduation is useful in formulating appropriate interventions to retain nurses in regional areas. Methods: A total of 329 senior nursing students from areas outside Metropolitan Seoul completed self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using t-test, chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: Of the respondents, 57.8% reported that they planned to work in the region in which their school was located. The three factors ranked as having the greatest influence on their decision to work in non-metropolitan regions were: the cost of living, housing costs, and the proximity to family. Enjoyable aspects of rural life contributed positively to students' intentions to work in non-metropolitan regions, whereas isolation and socialization problems negatively affected their intentions to work in such areas. Conclusions: Greater consideration should be given to improving working conditions and housing environments in non-metropolitan regions.

The program was composed of 8 sessions by using problem-centered learning education method and integrating STEAM elements between disciplines. The contents of program are as follow. In the step of sharing problems and making a problem-solving plan, they understood the various examples and meanings of endangered species, explored the project activities, and made an inquiry plan. In the search and re-exploration phase, a smart device was used to investigate the appearance, habitat environment and cause of extinction for Clithon retropictus, and a site inquiry plan was established for each group. Then, they moved to the field to explore brackish-headed gallops and discuss ways to protect endangered species. In the step of creating a solution, a web-based report was produced as the final product using smart devices based on the results of the inquiry. In the presentation and evaluation stage, the produced web-based report was used to present each group, conduct mutual evaluation, and organize project activities. The developed program was applied to 6th grade 29 students enrolled in the J University Gifted Education Center. In order to find out the effectiveness of the program, tests of science process skill, creative problem-solving ability, and scientific attitude were conducted before and after of program learning, and the results were statistically analyzed by t-test. • This article examines the concept of 'Seongho-Studies'. The term 'SeonghoStudies' is generally used as a concept which means the overall academic world of Seongho, but it is not clear of what 'Seongho-Studies' really is. To define the term 'Seongho-Studies', characteristics of the Seongho's academic world should be found, and the characteristics have to be original. However, this work is not easy because of the immensity and the diversity of Seongho's academic world. This problem makes us find the concept of 'Seongho-studies' in the process Seongho made his academic world. We can define Seongho's academic attitudes and methods as 'scepticism and self-acquirement.' Thus 'Seongho-studies' is "All of Seongho's academic world that was achieved by the academic methods of scepticism and self-acquirement. It is exposing specific and practical thoughts on the subject based on his situation." This concept can have diverse explanations of Seongho and his followers' academic world, but this also carries various limits. Therefore the concept proposed in the article is one of the many essays for formulating a clear notion of 'Seongho-studies'.

  • Luxury products are sold in various online shopping malls in China. Companies utilize celebrities as their advertising models or disclose their CSR information to lower perceived risk. This study scrutinized the effects of CSR information and celebrity models on the relationship between perceived risk and the intention to use online shopping malls. According to the elaboration likelihood model, when consumers perceive high risk, they use the central route to process information and form attitudes. Celebrity models and CSR information as secondary clues may not have a significant effect. To test the hypotheses, a 2 (risk H/L)×2 (CSR)×2 (model) factorial design was employed. Study results found in a low perceived risk situation, CSR information or a celebrity model endorsing their products significantly increased the intention to use the shopping mall (model w/ 3.407 vs. w/o 2.88; CSR w/ 3.29 vs. w/o 2.779). However, in a perceived high-risk situation, their effects were not significant. Therefore, it is noteworthy that celebrity models and CSR information are effective in increasing the intention to use online shopping malls only when consumers use peripheral routes in a perceived low-risk situation.

  • College students face serious difficulties while seeking jobs, leading to a high degree of stress, which is thought to affect their attitude towards smoking. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between hardiness, job-seeking stress, and the attitude towards smoking among students, and to further identify the factors influencing smoking attitude. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire administered to 145 students. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS program, t-test, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Smokers constituted 22.1% of the sample. The study showed that smoking attitudes varied according to the smoking status (H=28.26, p<.001). The smoking attitude was seen to be desirable in the high group (t=-3.27, p=.001) and low job-seeking stress group (t=4.40, p<.001). There was a positive correlation between hardiness and smoking attitude (r=.18, p=.028). There was a negative correlation between job-seeking stress and smoking attitude (r=-.28, p=.001). Also, the factors affecting the smoking attitude were non-smoker respondent (β=.50, p<.001), job-seeking stress (β=-.23, p=.015), former smoker respondent (β=.22, p=.016) and the explanatory power was 24.3%. Therefore, school and health public center counseling and employment support programs need to help students manage and cope with stressful situations to change their attitude towards smoking in a desirable direction.

  • The purpose of this study examines to what extent the multicultural youth's dual culture acceptance attitude is significantly affected by cultural adaptation stress and national identity using the data of the MAPS(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study) conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute. The subject of the study was the first data of the second period of the MAPS, and 2,246 multicultural youth who were enrolled in the fourth grade of elementary school as of 2019 were used as analysis data. As a result of the study, it was found that the attitude to accept dual culture was significantly affected in the order of national identity and cultural adaptation stress. This means that the higher the national identity and the lower the cultural adaptation stress, the higher the attitude toward dual culture. On the other hand, as for the type of multicultural youth, it was found that international marriage families had the lowest attitude toward accepting dual culture. In terms of the size of the area where students live, large cities have the lowest dual cultural acceptance attitude. These results suggest that cultural adaptation stress, national identity, type of multicultural family, and area of residence act as major variables in multicultural youth's dual culture acceptance attitude.
