A Study on Design and Manufacture of Slotless Outer Rotor BLDC Motor for a Vehicle Blower (자동차 송풍장치용 Slotless Outer Rotor BLDC 모터 설계 및 제작에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a slotless outer rotor BLDC motor for a vehicle blower was designed and manufactured to improve the disadvantages of general motors. The proposed motor solves the noise caused by mechanical friction of DC motor during rotation by removing the brush, Also, slotless air-gap windings are used to improve cogging torque by BLDC motor slots. Then, the motor has a structure in which a magnet is attached to the external rotor and rotates simultaneously with the internal rotor, there is no change in magnetic flux. Therefore, it has high efficiency by fundamentally reducing iron loss.

  • Disc brake squeal is caused by mechanical vibrations generated from friction force excitations exerted by the pad on the rotor. In order to understand the origin of these vibrations and to speed up the design, the characterization of the individual brake system components is desirable. In this paper, the results of modal analysis are presented in terms of several slot-type with free-free boundary conditions. Special attention is paid to variations of the natural frequency at each vibration mode as the result of modifying slot pattern.

  • A shorted-turn test was performed at the Sininchon combined cycle power plant on gas turbine generators. The test was conducted using a permanent flux probe and on-line diagnosis system. The flux probe installed in the generator air gap senses the field winding slot leakage flux and produces a voltage proportional to the rate of change of the flux. This pattern of flux variation is a signature unique to each field winding. We have also applied a voltage waveform analysis technique that can identify the pole location, slot number and number of shorted-turn with each slot.

  • In all sorts of primary factor which produce torque ripple of d.c brushless motor cogging torque which is generated from relation between permanent magnet rotor and salient pole cannot controled by external control system. So in this paper cogging torque is analysed by simple method in which slot fuctuion is introduced. And for reducing counterplan of cogging torque d.c brushless motor which plot auxiliary slot by inequality interval is proposed. Thus the quantitative torque characteristics of new motor which designed by this method is analysed by F.E.M and validity of this new design is proved.

  • Capacitor-run single induction motors have the unbalanced elliptic rotating magnetic field so that it is difficult to analyze the characteristic and calculate the accurate slot leakage reactance of the rotor with the closed slot by using the lumped parameter. In this paper, the characteristic is analyzed by the symmetrical coordinate method in terms of the lumped parameter coupled with the numerical analysis. The secondary parameters are calculated by the one slot pitch boundary condition applying to Finite Element Method (FEM). The analysis results are compared with experimental ones.

  • This paper presents the cogging torque analysis of the permanent magnet type AC servo motor which have the closed slot structure. Generally, existence of the slot opening causes the cogging torque. But the cogging torque exists in this type motor(having closed slot structure) because the bridge part is saturated by the rotor flux. In this paper, the finite element analysis is used to calculate the cogging torque and the rated torque. As the size of the bridge part-the thickness and the width-changes, the cogging torque and the rated torque are obtained repeatedly like as upper procedures. Finally, the trends of the cogging torque and the rated torque versus the size of the bridge part are obtained from this analysis procedures. By this approach, the optimal geometry of the bridge part can be found which minimize the cogging torque satisfying the required value of the rated torque.

  • The Cogging Torgue is non-uniform torgue in motor which causes noise and vibration to synchronous motors such as BLDC motor, and regardless of load current, is generated by the interaction between permanent magnet rotor and stator slot which is the force of tangential direction that tends to move into the position where the magnetic energy of motor system is minimal. such Cogging Torgue shall be considered in design stage since it is the main factor of motor's noise and vibration. Understanding that Cogging Torgue is generated by the interaction between relatively low stage harmonic flux density gab of permanent magnet rotor and steel slot of stator. This study proposes the method if reducing Cogging Torgue using response surface method which is a kind of design if experiment.

  • This paper will describe the optimal design of an induction motor for the propulsion of an electric railway. First, the design requirements are satisfied through the basic model, which is designed in a design process using the equivalent circuit. Then, Rotor slot and Airgap are determined by analysis and comparison of torque, torque ripple, efficiency, and power factor. In addition, Rotor slot shape is optimized by using the response surface method. Finally, through the results of equivalent circuit and FEA, the final model is found to satisfy the design requirements; its efficiency was far higher than that of the basic model.
