  • This paper presents neural network based position estimation method in slippery environment as an approach to solve one of problems which are engaged in dead reckoning method. Position estimator is composed of slip detector and linear velocity estimator. Both of them are based on the fact that dynamic characteristic of mobile robot in slippery environment is different from the case without slip. To find out the dynamic relation among driving torque, angular acceleration of driving wheel and linear acceleration of mobile robot, accelerometer is used for measuring acceleration of mobile robot and neural network is used for dynamic system identifier in slippery environment.

  • In this paper, the arc welding robot controller using a touch sensor and a arc sensor is presented. The controller is composed of robot controller parts for moving torch, and arc welding controller for welding and tracking. In the controller, an compensated data is generated to control robot trajectory and seam tracking by the arc sensor function. The data is obtained by integration of arc current. Experimental results are presented confirming the controller performance.

  • In this paper, we develop the basic robot commands on the level of VAL robot language and the integrated environment software of the robot management system to give users an easy way of programming and running the robot. The developed software is designed to support Korean language and to be run by the pop-up menus for programming commands and inputs. Geometrical and dynamical features can be viewed on a computer monitor by graphics and the taught works can be interfaced with a computer and controllers.

  • The Direct Arm(DDA) is a SCARA typed direct drive manipulator with three degree of freedom(DOF) using the direct motor of the NSK company. In the paper, we propose a convenient interface for the SCARA-type robot which is practical to use. The proposed Visual Robot Teaching Mode using 3D graphics replaces the current teaching box. And besides this graphical teaching software can be implemented on the PC which is company used as a robot controller. This program was developed for the Windows 95 OS.

  • With the expansion of research and development for the CIM and the IMS, the importance of introducing the communication network is being increased. This paper presents an implementation of robot workcell by using Fieldbus and investigates data operation of the robot workcell. Through experiments, the operations of periodic and real-time data, and non-periodic real-time data are studied. Also, the relationship between the network transmission rate and the monitoring results from the sensor is analyzed.

  • A robot system in most industries has a complicated structure, which includes electric and electronic components, and mechanical parts. For this reason, building a robot system also has a very complicated design and maintenance processes. Especially to predict or assess the system's maintainability and safety is important for both designer and operator before it's production or installation of the system. This paper presents an application methodology of FMECA focused on safety in design of a robot system with point of view of reliability engineering.

  • This paper presents adaptive control of robot manipulator using neuro-fuzzy controller Fuzzy logic is control incorrect system without correct mathematical modeling. And, neural network has learning ability, error interpolation ability of information distributed data processing, robustness for distortion and adaptive ability. To reduce the number of fuzzy rules of the FLS(fuzzy logic system), we consider the properties of robot dynamic. In fuzzy logic, speciality and optimization of rule-base creation using learning ability of neural network. This paper presents control of robot manipulator using neuro-fuzzy controller. In proposed controller, fuzzy input is trajectory following error and trajectory following error differential ...

  • Researches of multi-robot system are active in these days. The most remarkable characteristic of multirobot system is that the robots work cooperatively and achieve the task which a single robot cannot do. It is essential to investigate number effect of multi-robot system. In this paper, we chose foraging task and investigated their behavior. At first, we investigated the foraging behavior in case that interaction range is Infinite. Secondly, we investigated the behavior in case that interaction range is finite. In both case, we find out there is an optimum interaction duration.

  • The capability of environment recognition is very important for mobile robot. Especially, a function of target tracking is necessary in monitoring and watching an object using mobile robot. In general, vision sensors such as CCD camera and laser range finder were used for tracking of a moving target. However, they are not only affected by intensity of illumination in environment but also require high performance processors to process large amount of data. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the construction of target tracking system for mobile robot using only ultrasonic sensors to cope with these problems.
