  • This research defined causal relationships among the perception of retirement and senior life(PRSL), retirement preparation actions(RPA), and retirement satisfaction level(RSL) to know the expectation about retired life according to the differences of retirement related factors, PRSL, and RPA. For this, From November 2015 to February 2016, I researched from 20 to 69, 1,500 currently working adults in the country, mailing surveys with the letter introducing this research's purpose and procedure and having them send them back, or researcher's spreading and collecting the surveys, eliminating 83 cases of negligent answers, finally analyzing 1,417 surveys. The result shows age, monthly income, and residing at their own places made more positive PRSL, RPA, financial retirement preparation level(FRPL), and expectancy about satisfactory retirement life. When they had less children, PRSL and RSL were higher. When they had more children, RPA was more proactive, and FRPL was higher. When they had positive PRSL, RPA was more proactive, and expectancy about retired life was higher. This research is significant in defining differences of retirement related factors and causal relationships among PRSL, RPA, and RSL.

  • Objectives: Early retirement occurs when one's job satisfaction suffers due to employment mismatch resulting from factors such as inadequate compensation. Medical doctors report high levels of job stress and burnout relative to other professionals. These levels are highest among emergency physicians (EPs), and despite general improvements in their working conditions, early retirement continues to become more common in this population. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing EPs intention to retire early and to develop a probability equation for its prediction. Methods: A secondary analysis of data from the 2015 Korean Society of Emergency Physicians Survey was performed. The variables potentially influencing early retirement were organized into personal characteristics, extrinsic factors, and intrinsic factors. Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify risk factors and to develop a probability equation; these findings were then arranged in a nomogram. Results: Of the 377 survey respondents included in the analysis, 48.0% intended to retire early. Risk factors for early retirement included level of satisfaction with the specialty and its outlook, slanderous reviews, emergency room safety, health status, workload intensity, age, and hospital type. Intrinsic factors (i.e., slanderous reviews and satisfaction with the specialty and its outlook) had a stronger influence on early retirement than did extrinsic factors. Conclusions: To promote career longevity among EPs, it is vital to improve emergency room safety and workload intensity, to enhance medical professionalism through a stronger vision of emergency medicine, and to strengthen the patient-doctor relationship.

  • This study explored how retirement satisfaction or dissatisfaction influences on retirees' life satisfaction, comparing to workers and the gender differences were examined. The study sample was 2,609 persons (1,886 workers, 723 retirees) aged 45 or older who participated in the 1-2 waves of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA), and the retirees were classified into continuously dissatisfied retirees and satisfied retirees during wave 1 and 2. Using SPSS 21.0, the multiple regression models were examined, and in order to clarify the gender difference, the multi-group analysis and the wald-test were conducted to test the difference of the regression coefficients according to gender using Mplus 7.3. According to the results, the life satisfaction of dissatisfied retirees was lower than that of the employed, but when satisfied with retirement, the life satisfaction was higher than that of the employed. In addition, the dissatisfied retirees in both gender were less satisfied with life than the employed, and this effect was greater in female group. However, the life satisfaction of female satisfied with retirement was higher than that of the employed, whereas the evidence of the male influence was not found to be significant. Based on the results of this study, discussion about heterogeneity of retirees and gender differences in life span were presented.

The survey was administered to 468 regular workers aged 40 or older in Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area. This study utilized SPSS 19.0 statistical program, and multiple regression and mediated effect analyses were applied with descriptive statistics, reliability and validity of measurement tools to analyze differences between correlations and groups. First, male workers had higher self-regulation ability and job satisfaction than women. Female workers had higher old age rest than male ones. The higher the educational background, the higher the recognition of retirement as a new beginning, The longer the working years, the higher the self-regulation ability and job satisfaction. The higher the household income, the higher the positiveness. Second, the Resilience had a positive effect on job satisfaction. • The purpose of this study was to analyze the affecting factors on male salary workers' pre-retirement plans and pre-retirement planning programs. The focus was on male workers' pre-retirement plans and programs for economy, housing, family relationship, leisure and health care in their elderly life. The major findings were as follows: First, the salary workers estimated their level of economic and health problems among their elderly life as relatively high. Second, the major factors affecting the level of planning for post-retirement were salary workers' age, job satisfaction, and reserved savings for their elderly life. Third, the major affecting factors on participation in pre-retirement planning programs were age, educational attainment, and spouse's job status. From these findings, it can be concluded that salary workers' level of pre-retirement planning and the needs of pre-retirement planning programs differed from their personal characteristics and preferences. Also, salary workers' characteristics related to job and retirement had more important effects on their pre-retirement planning than economic status.

  • This study aims to clarify factors having effect on the turnover and entrepreneurial intention of financial institution workers. Particularly, this study analyzed the effect of job satisfaction, job insecurity, retirement expectation and retirement preparation activities. As research subjects, this study selected financial institution workers residing in Seoul and the capital area and used a total of 508 samples as analysis data. This study analyzed job satisfaction, job insecurity, retirement expectation and retirement preparation activities as factors having effect on the turnover and entrepreneurial intention of financial institution workers. The research results can be summarized as follows; Firstly, all the factors of job satisfaction had negative (-) effect on their turnover intention, and compensation satisfaction and interpersonal relation satisfaction also had negative (-) effect on their entrepreneurial intention. Secondly, since job insecurity had positive (+) effect on their turnover intention and entrepreneurial intentions, the more insecure their jobs became, the more their turnover and entrepreneurial intention increased. Thirdly, in the retirement expectation, forced frustration and continuation had positive (+) effect on their turnover intention, and forced frustration, new start and continuation also had positive (+) effect on their entrepreneurial intention. Fourthly, in the retirement preparation activity, entrepreneurial preparation, social preparation and physical preparation of retirement preparation activity had positive (+) effect on their turnover intention, but economical preparation had negative (-) effect on their turnover intention, while entrepreneurial preparation had positive (+) effect on their entrepreneurial intention. In other words, as they prepare business start-up more for retirement, their turnover and entrepreneurial intentions increase more. Although they receive higher wages than other workers in different job fields as financial institution workers, they showed significant results about turnover and entrepreneurial intentions, which indicates that job satisfaction, job insecurity, retirement expectation and preparation activities function as important variables in the relation with their turnover and entrepreneurial intentions. Such research results imply that it is necessary to develop various educational programs and turnover and business start-up support programs so that financial institution workers may have better understanding of both success and failure cases when they actually work on business start-ups.

  • This study aims to investigate the financial soundness of Korean households and its effects on the retirement preparation of these households. The sample consisted of 1,031 households selected from the 4th Korean Retirement and Income Study (KReIS) by the National Pension Research Institute in 2012. The empirical results are as follows. According to the logistic regression model, the statistically significant factors affecting the retirement preparation of Korean households are gender, occupation type, residence, satisfaction with economic condition, and type of financial soundness-sound households or insolvency-risky households. In other words, more female-headed households and households with higher levels of occupation are less likely to prepare for retirement. The households that are more likely to prepare for retirement are those that are lived in metropolitan areas as opposed to the countryside; further, households that are more economically sound are also more likely to prepare for retirement. In particular, sound households and insolvency-risky households are less likely to prepare for retirement compared to liquidity-risky households.
