Development of Construction Site Access Management Automation System based on Hand Vascular Pattern

  • Along with the changing pattern that the construction project is getting complicated, large-scaled and up-to-dated, necessity of efficient management of manpower and resources of the construction site is being increased. In particular, considering that the construction site requires a lot of labor force and in terms of the construction cost, labor cost shares 30-40%, labor management has become a very important factor. In this study, in order to support a stable and successful construction project implementation and supplement the existing system being utilized at the current site, construction site access management automation system based on hand vascular pattern, a biometrics system, is intended to be developed. Relevant theory for the system development and the problem of existing RFID system were evaluated and based on this findings, a system design and DB composition chart were envisaged. In addition, by applying this developed system to a number of sites, its result was analyzed

The effects of group coaching program based on self-affirmation theory to improve undergraduate students' career exploration (진로탐색행동 개선을 위한 자기가치확인 기반 그룹코칭 프로그램 개발 및 효과성 검증)

  • The current study aimed to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a group coaching program to improve college students' career exploration behaviors based on the self-affirmation theory. Participants were undergraduate students at a University in Seoul and volunteered in the program during the break. The group coaching program was conducted twice a week during three weeks, a total of six times, and each session lasted 2 to 2.5 hours. In this study, the effect of self-affirmation embedded in the group coaching program on various psychological variables and college students' career exploration behaviors were examined. A mixed-randomized analysis was conducted to compare the pre, post, and follow-up tests of the experimental, comparison, and no-treatment control groups, each consisting of 18 participants. The results showed that participants in the experimental group coaching condition showed more significant improvements in psychological resources, career self-efficacy, openness, problem-focused coping, and career exploration behaviors compared to the comparison and control groups, and these results were maintained even after the program ended. The implications of this study for coaching theory and practice, as well as limitations and future research directions, were discussed.

Effects of Individual Motivation on Turnover Intention among Social Workers : Focused on the mediation effects of multiple commitment (사회복지사의 개인적 동기가 이직의도에 미치는 영향 - 다중몰입의 매개효과를 중심으로 -)

  • This study set out to investigate the effects of individual motivation on turnover intention among social workers and examine their turnover intentions in details by focusing on the mediation effects of multiple commitment. To be specific, it aimed to propose and test a prediction model for social workers' turnover intentions based on the Self-determination Theory and Theory of Planned Behavior. For those purposes, a mail survey was taken among social workers working for use facilities, residential facilities, public health centers, social welfare foundations and associations, and all kinds of centers and institutions in 15 cities and provinces across the nation. Total 1,918 questionnaires were distributed, and 1,671 ones were returned, and 979 whose respondents expressed a turnover intention were used in final analysis. The analysis results indicate that psychological motivation of social workers had direct impacts on their turnover intention. However, their role stress had no direct impacts on their turnover intention, which suggests that the impulsive routes model for turnover intention is supported only in psychological motivation and job characteristics. Secondly, their psychological and job motivation turned out to have indirect impacts on turnover intention through the multiple commitment, which suggests that the reflective routes model for turnover intention is supported in all career, job, and organizational commitment. Career commitment had the most significant impacts on turnover intention, being followed by job commitment and organizational commitment in the order, which suggests that the social welfare academy should increase their interest in career commitment. Analysis of the Success Factors of Open Innovation fromthe Perspective of Cooperative Game Theory: Focusing on the Case of Collaboration Between Korean Large Company 'G' and Startup 'S' (협조적 게임이론 관점에서 본 대기업-스타트업 개방형 혁신 성공 요인 분석: 대기업 'G사'와 스타트업 'S사'의 협업 사례를 중심으로)

  • Based on the case of collaboration between large companies and startups, this study suggests the importance of establishing mutual cooperation and trust relationships for the success of open innovation strategy from the perspective of cooperative game theory. It also provides implications for how this can be implemented. Due to information asymmetry and differences in organizational culture and decision-making structures between large companies and startups, collaboration is likely to proceed in the form of non-cooperative games among players in general open innovation, leading to the paradox of open innovation, which lowers the degree of innovation. Accordingly, this study conducted a case study on collaboration between large company 'G' and startup 'S' based on the research question "How did we successfully promote open innovation through cooperative game-type collaboration?" The study found that successful open innovation requires (1) setting clear collaboration goals to solve the organizational problem between large companies and startups, (2) supporting human resources for qualitative growth of startups to solve reliability problems, (3) leading to strategic investment and joint promotion of new projects to solve the profit distribution problem. This study is significant in that it contributes to expanding the discussion of the success factors of open innovation to the importance of interaction and strategic judgment considering the organizational culture and decision-making structure among players, and empirically confirming the success conditions of open innovation from the perspective of cooperative game theory.

An Integrated Access Control for Sharing of E-Science Grid Resources (유휴 멀티 e-Science 그리드 자원 공유를 위한 통합 자원 접근 제어)

  • This paper proposes a light-weight, seamless integrated access control for global e-Science resource sharing. E-Science, based on Grid Computing, was designed to help scientists to remotely control and process the Grid resources such as high-end equipments and remote machines. As many researchers engage in the e-Science Grids, the researchers in a grid often have to wait for or give up use of the Grid resources, even when there are idle resources in other Grids. In this case, provided that proper compensation is given, Grid resource sharing is helpful both for the researchers and the Grids which provide their resources. But, sharing Grid resources globally is not simple, as each e-Science Grid is especially designed for resource sharing in its Virtual Organization(VO) and already has its unique access control policy for its resources. This paper proposes a new integrated access control for e-Science Grid resource sharing. The access control is light-weight without any priori service level agreement(SLA)s among the Grids which share their resources and seamless because the users can use the resources shared as the ones belonging to their Grids without their additional registration to the other Grids.

  • The theoretical treatments on jets, in which the flow is issuing into a stagnant medium, have been based on Prandtl's mixing theory. In this study, using Prandtl's mixing length hypothesis, a theoretical relationship for the velocity profile of a single round jet is derived. Furthermore, Gaussian expression is used to approximate the theoretical relationship, in which the Gaussian coefficient is assumed to be decreasing exponentially as the flow goes far from the orifice. Two data sets for a single round jet performed by tow different techniques of measurement are used to verify the suggested relationships. The theoretical and Gaussian distribution give close results in spite of the difference in approach. The observed mean velocity distributions are in good agreements with the suggested theoretical and Gaussian distributions.

  • Performance measurement systems based on the principle that "if you can't measure it, you can't manage it" reinforce a short-term culture by focussing on tangible outputs. Instead, the focus of organisations should be on sustainable long-term performance through continuous systemic improvement. To establish and reinforce behaviours that drive systemic improvement, measurement and reporting systems need to be de designed to re-enforce work to role behaviour by managers. This paper discusses this concept and how it is being applied in practice through an ongoing action research project.

  • Linear tracking problem I analytically solved with the buadratic performance measure. This theory has the inherent drawbacks in application, because the tracking assumes no boundness of the control and state vectors. The tracking was performed to the discrete system and interrupted subject to the violation. Multi-level tracking was intended based on the concept of the Bellman's Principle of Optimality in this paper. The tracking is iterated to get the desired trajectory which is not known in advance. An application was made to real operation of 6 rervoirs over 36 monthly periods for the Han river.

Service Quality Characteristics and Performance In a University Hospital

  • This study is to examine the factors that influence the performances of service quality in university hospitals by investigating systematically the condition of service quality. A synthesis of the health care quality is conducted to identify physical quality, operating process quality, and human resources quality that relate to both the overall satisfaction and intention of revisit. Based on the proposed hypotheses, the relationships between the service quality factors and performance are examined using data collected from 167 patients in three hospitals, Korea. Reliability and validity tests are performed for examining its relationship with service quality in health care systems. Total eight independent variables with respect to three service quality levels and two dependent variables for performance are identified for relationships between service quality and performance in health care systems. The results provide health care managers with a managerial insight to the planning function of performance with service quality in health care systems as well as other operations (business, government, or other service organizations) systems. Implication of the study for theory, future studies, and practices are discussed.

  • Software Engineering covers techniques, tools, and methodologies needed to develop, acquire, and manage software in high quality, using appropriate resources. Therefore it can be said that the administration target of software engineering activities is the pursuit of high productivity for production of software in good quality. To do this, they should establish the engineering principle based on engineering theory and concept, and form the effective environment of engineering technology through improving development methods/methodology and tools of software engineering. In addition several guidances related to information system planning, acquisition, development, management, maintenance, and evaluation, etc. must be invented on the basis of software engineering to encourage efficiency of public information business yearly increasing fastand to make sure compatibility and interoperability.
