Effects of Box Shape and Diverse Components of Large-Sized Products on Consumers' Product Evaluations in Logistic Business

  • Purpose - With the recent spread of COVID-19, U.S. consumers' consumption pattern is changing towards purchasing large-capacity products, as they stay at home longer. Thus, the current research investigates the effects of box shape and component diversity for large-sized products on product evaluation in logistic business. Moreover, this research examines that information-processing fluency mediates the moderating effects of box shape and product components on target evaluations to confirm psychological mechanism for generating this effect. Design/methodology - In order to examine the hypotheses, the current research conducts two online experiments. The 184 participants (Study 1), and 205 participants (Study 2) of U.S. nationality were recruited through Amazon Mechanical Turk. This research analyzes the data by using SPSS 25 and PROCESS macro 4.0. Findings - Study 1 demonstrates that when the height of a box is greater than its width, products with single components promote positive target evaluations, while when the width of box is greater than its height, products with a variety of components lead to positive target evaluations. Study 2 shows that the same results are replicated in other product categories and with different box shape ratios. Moreover, Study 2 also finds that the ease of information processing mediates the interaction effects of box shape and component diversity on U.S. consumers' target evaluations. Originality/value - The current research has originality in that it investigates the effect of box shape and product composition diversity on U.S. consumer product evaluation from the perspective of information-processing theory Moreover, this research has practical implications for global traders who prepare for entering the U.S. market.

  • The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the Vietnamese economy. In the midst of a complex disease that compelled people to limit their interaction, customers' shopping habits shifted from "offline" to "online" transactions. Mobile payments have also grown in popularity. The goal of this study is to figure out what factors influence the use of mobile payments by hotel clients in Can Tho after COVID-19. The research team also examines how those factors influence customers' willingness to use mobile payment and makes recommendations to better the current situation. Primary data was collected from 227 persons using online surveys and processed with SPSS software for this study. To analyze the correlation relationship between the elements determining the intention to use, the Cronbach alpha, EFA, Correlation, and Regression methods used to assess the scale are applied. Perceived Trustworthiness, Perceived Usefulness, and Perceived Ease of Use all have positive effects on customers' propensity to use, according to the findings. Perceived Security, on the other hand, has no bearing. The findings of this study have significant theoretical and practical implications for the development of mobile payment services in Can Tho, particularly following the implementation of COVID-19.

  • 본 연구는 최근 스마트폰을 활용한 모바일 광고로써 많은 관심을 받고 있는 리워드 어플리케이션은 어떠한 효과가 있는지 확인하고자 하였다. 따라서 모바일 광고인 리워드 어플리케이션을 사용하는 사용자 특성과 인구통계학적인 특성 그리고 리워드 어플리케이션 특성에 따라 이용만족과 지속적 이용의도에는 어떠한 차이가 있는지 확인하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 리워드 어플리케이션사용자 성별과 적립금 사용 경험 유무에 따른 리워드 어플리케이션 이용만족에는 상호작용효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 리워드 어플리케이션 사용자 유형과 사용자 성별에 따른 리워드 어플리케이션의 지속적 이용의도에는 상호작용효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 셋째, 리워드 어플리케이션 사용자 성별과 적립금 사용 경험 유무에 따른 리워드 어플리케이션의 지속적 이용의도에는 상호작용효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 이상의 연구는 모바일 리워드 어플리케이션 활성화시키기 위한 마케팅 전략의 기초자료를 제공하였다는 것에 의의를 두고자 한다.

노인에 대한 명시적 및 암묵적 태도: 대학생 및 노인을 중심으로 (The Differences of Explicit and Implicit Attitudes toward Older People in College Students and Older People)

  • 본 연구는 노인과 대학생을 대상으로 노인에 대한 명시적 및 암묵적 태도가 연령 및 성별에 따라 어떠한 차이가 있는지 검증해보고자 하였다. 남녀 대학생 64명과 남녀 노인 64명을 대상으로 명시적 태도검사, 명시적 선호도검사와 암묵적 연합검사(IAT)를 사용하여, 노인에 대한 태도를 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 대학생은 명시적 및 암묵적 수준 모두에서 젊은이를 더 선호하는 내집단 선호를 보인 반면, 노인의 경우에는 두 수준 모두에서 젊은이를 더 선호하는 외집단 선호를 보였으나 두 집단 모두에서 노인에 대한 명시적 및 암묵적 태도 간에는 유의미한 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 이에 더해, 성별 및 연령에 따른 노인에 대한 태도에서 차이가 나타났는데, 명시적 수준에서는 노인에 비해 대학생들이 노인을 더 선호하고 신뢰하는 것으로 나타난 반면, 암묵적 수준에서는 남성의 경우에는 노인이 대학생보다 노인을 더 선호하고, 여성의 경우에는 대학생 이 노인에 비해 노인을 더욱 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 노인에 대한 태도를 이론 및 실제적인 측면에서 논의하였고, 마지막으로 연구의 함의 및 제한점을 역시 기술하였다.

메타버스를 활용한 이공계 대학원생 팀 프로젝트 기반 교육 프로그램 개발 사례 연구 (A Study of Developing Graduate Student Team Project-based Learning Program in the Science and Technology Field Applying Metaverse Technology)

  • This study aims to develop and apply a metaverse-based instructional design model for the education in science and technology. It analyzed the concept and characteristics of metaverse, existing non-contact education models, and major teaching strategies systematically. Based on the prior researches, an instructional design model using metaverse is developed that presents metaverse-related teaching strategies and design principles for the before-, during-, and after-lesson phases. Then, this model was applied to a project-based learning program, conducted a perception survey on instructors and learners, and revised the metaverse instructional design model based on the results of the survey. In the Metaverse Instructional Design Model, before-lesson phase is a physical and psychological preparation stage for class participation, which includes familiarization with the Metaverse learning environment, formation of expectations for education, and self-directed pre-learning. During the lesson, to effectively deliver the lesson content, it is necessary to build confidence in the learning environment, promote learning participation, provide reference materials, perform team projects and provide feedback, digest learning content, and transfer learning content. The after-lesson phase provides strategies for ongoing interaction between learners and mentors. This study introduces a new instructional design model that utilizes metaverse and shows the potential of metaverse-based education in science and technology. It also has important implications in that it provides practical guidelines for the effective design and implementation of metaverse-based education.

고압 유체 시료의 pH 및 알칼리도 측정 방법 : 가상 시료를 활용한 실용성 평가 (Method for Measuring pH and Alkalinity of High-Pressure Fluid Samples : Evaluation through Artificial Samples)

  • As part of monitoring technology aimed at verifying the stability of CO2 geologic storage and mitigating concerns about leakage, a method for measuring the pH and alkalinity of high-pressure fluid samples was established to obtain practical technology. pH measurement for high-pressure samples utilized a high-pressure pH electrode, and alkalinity was measured using the Gran titration method for samples collected with a piston cylinder sampler (PCS). Experimental samples, referencing CO2-rich water and CO2 geologic storage studies, were prepared in the laboratory. The PCS controls the piston, preventing CO2 degassing and maintaining fluid pressure, allowing mixing with KOH to fix dissolved CO2. Results showed a 6.1% average error in high-pressure pH measurement. PCS use for sample collection maintained pressure, preventing CO2 degassing. However, PCS-collected sample alkalinity measurements had larger errors than non-PCS measurements, limiting PCS practicality in monitoring field settings. Nevertheless, PCS could find utility in preprocessing for carbon isotope analysis and other applications. This research not only contributes to the field of CCS monitoring but also suggests potential applications in studies related to natural analogs of CCS, CO2-rock interaction experiments, core flooding experiments, and beyond.

부정적 리뷰의 대응 전략이 숙박시설 성공에 미치는 영향: 숙박 중개 플랫폼 사례 (The Impact of Managerial Response to Negative Customer Reviews on the Success of Accommodation Services: Evidence from Online Accommodation Reservation Platforms)

  • 최근 모바일 플랫폼 기반 비즈니스의 증가와 함께 온라인 숙박 예약 시장이 커지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 서비스 품질에 대한 불확실성이 높은 온라인 숙박 예약 플랫폼에서 부정적 리뷰의 대응 전략이 숙박 업체의 성공에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 국내 최대 숙박 예약 플랫폼에 등록된 856개의 모텔을 대상으로 호스트의 대응 전략의 숙박시설 성공에 대한 효과를 확인한 결과, 부정적 리뷰에 대한 호스트의 답변수가 많고(적극성), 답변 속도(적시성)가 빠를수록 성공에 정(+)의 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 두 가지 대응 전략에는 정(+)의 상호작용 효과가 있음을 보였다. 마지막으로 평판 하락에 따른 호스트의 대응 전략을 확인한 결과, 평판 하락 발생 시 부정적 리뷰에 대한 대응 적극성의 효과는 증가하였다. 본 연구는 숙박업체의 성공에 효과적인 호스트의 대응 전략을 규명하였으며, 평판 하락에 따른 호스트의 대응 전략의 효과성을 확인한 연구라는 점에서 학술적, 실무적 의의가 있다.

성격에 따른 일중독이 직무만족에 미치는 영향: 성실성의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Impact of Workaholism on Job Satisfaction Depending on Personality: Focusing on the Moderating Role of Conscientiousness)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of workaholism according to personality on the job satisfaction of organizational members. Design/methodology/approach - Workaholism was defined as excessive working and compulsive work, suggesting a negative impact on job satisfaction, while predicting that conscientiousness would alleviate this effect and presented as a hypothesis. The unbalanced panel data constructed based on 19,283 samples of 6,863 people from the Korea Labor Institute's Korea Labor Panel Survey was used. Findings - Both excessive working and compulsive working were found to have a direct negative effect on job satisfaction. Additionally, as a result of verifying the interaction effect of conscientiousness, it was found that the negative impact of excessive work on job satisfaction was moderated and alleviated by conscientiousness. In other words, for employees with high conscientiousness, the negative impact of excessive work on job satisfaction is alleviated and the negative impact of overworking is offset, whereas for employees with low conscientiousness, the negative impact of overworking on job satisfaction is strengthened. Research implications or Originality - This study shows that the impact of workaholism on job satisfaction varies depending on personality. While existing research has treated personality only as a determinant of workaholism, this study contributes to previous research in that it expands the role of personality. In addition, in practical terms, it is suggested that differential treatment based on individual values or personality is necessary.

공공도서관 조직공정성이 서비스접점구성원의 인게이지먼트와 이용자지향성에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Impact of Public Library Organizational Justice on the Employee Engagement and User Orientation in Frontline Staff)

  • 본 연구는 공공도서관 조직공정성이 서비스접점구성원의 인게이지먼트와 이용자지향성 간의 상호 연관성을 파악하는 연구모형을 설계하고 검증하였다. 첫째, 분배공정성은 인게이지먼트에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 상호작용공정성은 인게이지먼트에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 절차공정성은 이용자지향성에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 인게이지먼트는 이용자지향성에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 구조방정식 모형분석 결과, 인게이지먼트가 이용자지향성에 미치는 영향력이 더 큰 것으로 분석되었다. 도서관 운영에 조직구성원의 자발적이면서 자신의 희생을 감수하는 헌신적인 행동을 취하게 하고 업무에 대하여 긍정적으로 몰입하고자 하는 자세를 갖춘 서비스접점구성원이라면 이용자를 최우선으로 하여 서비스를 제공하는 이용자지향적 행동을 취할 가능성이 크기 때문이다. 도서관에 도움이 될 수 있는 전략과 개선방안을 제시하였다는 점에서 실무적으로 의의를 지닌다.

Pregnant women's experiences of online prenatal education in Korea during COVID-19: a phenomenological study

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore the significance and insights derived from the experiences of pregnant women in Korea who participated in online prenatal education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This study employed the hermeneutic phenomenology framework developed by Colaizzi. It involved 12 pregnant women who participated in online prenatal education provided by public health centers in Chuncheon, Korea. Data collection was achieved through in-depth interviews conducted in Korea from October 2021 to April 2022. Results: In total, 51 significant statements were extracted from the interview data and then categorized into 10 themes. Finally, three categories were formed by merging similar themes. The three basic categories of participants' experiences of online prenatal education were "feeling of safety and comfort in body and mind," "frustrated by a lack of interaction," and "digital education being a double-edged sword." Pregnant women expressed ambivalence regarding the benefits and drawbacks of the online educational experience. They desired more interactive and practical learning opportunities, even as they appreciated the comfort of learning remotely. Conclusion: This study revealed the phenomenon of online prenatal education as an advanced form of distance-based prenatal education instead of the traditional in-person classroom. To maximize the educational effectiveness of this new format, public health center policies must address the digital literacy gap and enhance accessibility by leveraging the immersive multimedia experiences that online education offers to pregnant women. We recommend that maternal healthcare providers adopt this innovative approach to prenatal education, utilizing distance education technology to improve participation and promote immersion.
