Parallel Control of Shunt Active Power Filters in Capacity Proportion Frequency Allocation Mode

  • A parallel control strategy in capacity proportion frequency allocation mode for shunt active power filters (APFs) is proposed to overcome some of the difficulties in high power applications. To improve the compensation accuracy and overall system stability, an improved selective harmonic current control based on multiple synchronous rotating reference coordinates is presented in a single APF unit, which approximately implements zero steady-state error compensation. The combined decoupling strategy is proposed and theoretically analyzed to simplify selective harmonic current control. Improved selective harmonic current control forms the basis for multi-APF parallel operation. Therefore, a parallel control strategy is proposed to realize a proper optimization so that the APFs with a larger capacity compensate more harmonic current and the ones with a smaller capacity compensate less harmonic current, which is very practical for accurate harmonic current compensation and stable grid operation in high power applications. This is verified by experimental results. The total harmonic distortion (THD) is reduced from 29% to 2.7% for a typical uncontrolled rectifier load with a resistor and an inductor in a laboratory platform.

  • The demand for the stable and comfortable cabin of a high speed passenger ship is increasing. The study on shipboard comfort has been mainly concentrated on the motion control of a whole hull body. In this study, however, a new control system operated by two parallel robots (3RPS, 3SPR) such as the active suspension system of motor vehicle is proposed. The goal of this control is keeping zero velocity of the upper robot (cabin) although the lower robot (ship) is moving by the waves. Jacobian matrix was used to design the controller, From the simulation results, the remarkable reduction of motion of the cabin (upper platform) was observed. The 3SPR parallel robot shows better performance compared to the 3RPS robot.

  • This paper proposes a wireless parallel operation method of three-phase modular UPS inverter using resistive droop control. Furthermore, it applies a virtual resistor to droop control so that the output impedance of UPS inverter gets closer to resistive. It makes resistive droop control effective. The simulation using PSIM was performed in order to verify the validity of proposed algorithm. After consisting two-parallel system with three-phase modular UPS inverter, the experiment according to resistive load was conducted. It demonstrated the performance of current sharing and power sharing.

  • In this paper, a new PID fuzzy controller(FC) based on parallel operation of PI and PD fuzzy control is presented. First, two fuzzy rule bases are constructed by separating the linguistic control rule for PID FC into two parts : one is e-.DELTA.e part, and the other is .DELTAL.$^{2}$e-.DELTA.e part. And then two FCs employing these rule bases indivisually are synthesized and run in parallel. The incremental control input is determined by taking weighted mean of the outputs of two FCs. The proposed PID FC improves the transient response of the system and gives better performance than the conventional PI FC.

  • This work focuses on current sharing between punch-through insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) connected in parallel and evaluates the mechanisms that allow overall current balancing. Two different control strategies are presented. These strategies are based on the modification of transistor gate-emitter control voltage VGE by using an active gate driver circuit. The first strategy relies on the calculation of the average value of the current flowing through all parallel-connected IGBTs. The second strategy is proposed by the authors on the basis of a current cross reference control scheme. Finally, the simulation and experimental results of the application of the two current sharing control algorithms are presented.

  • In this paper, the charge control with the input voltage feedback is proposed for the input series-output series-output parallel connected converter configuration for the high speed train power system application. This control scheme accomplishes the output current sharing for the output-parallel connected modules as well as the input voltage sharing for the input series connected modules for all operating conditions including the transients. It also offers the robustness for the input voltage sharing control according to the component value mismatches among the modules. And this configuration enables the usage of MOSFET for a high voltage system allowing a higher switching frequency for lighter system weight and smaller size. The performance of the proposed scheme is verified through the experimental results.

Parallel Robust $H_{\infty}$ Control for Weakly Coupled Bilinear Systems with Parameter Uncertainties Using Successive Galerkin Approximation

  • This paper presents a new algorithm for the closed-loop $H_{\infty}$ composite control of weakly coupled bilinear systems with time-varying parameter uncertainties and exogenous disturbance using the successive Galerkin approximation(SGA). By using weak coupling theory, the robust $H_{\infty}$ control can be obtained from two reduced-order robust $H_{\infty}$ control problems in parallel. The $H_{\infty}$ control theory guarantees robust closed-loop performance but the resulting problem is difficult to solve for uncertain bilinear systems. In order to overcome the difficulties inherent in the $H_{\infty}$ control problem, two $H_{\infty}$ control laws are constructed in terms of the approximated solution to two independent Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaac equations using the SGA method. One of the purposes of this paper is to design a closed-loop parallel robust $H_{\infty}$ control law for the weakly coupled bilinear systems with parameter uncertainties using the SGA method. The other is to reduce the computational complexity when the SGA method is applied to the high order systems.

  • A study on the improvement of tracking performance of a 3 DOF planar parallel manipulator is performed. A class of adaptive tracking control sheme is designed using self tuning adaptive fuzzy logic control theory. This control sheme is composed of three classical PD controller and a multi learning type self tuning adaptive fuzzy logic controller set. PD controller is tuned roughly by manual setting a priori and fuzzy logic controller is tuned precisely by the gradient descent method for a global solution during run-time, so the proposed control scheme is tuned more rapidly and precisely than the single learning type self tuning adaptive fuzzy logic control sheme for a local solution. The control performance of the proposed algorithm is verified through experiments.

NGN 자원제어 스킴의 고속화 방안에 관한 연구 (Study of High-Speed NGN Resource Control Schemes)

  • 차세대 네트워크(NGN)는 QoS가 지원되는 광 대역 전달 망에서 세션 및 비-세션 서비스를 지원하기 위한 패킷 기반의 융합 망이다. NGN에서 네트워크 사용자에 따라 차별화된 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 QoS 기반 자원제어가 이루어져 한다. 본 논문에서는 세션 및 자원제어 지연을 최소화하기 위하여 NGN 자원제어 인터페이스에 병행형 제어 스킴을 정의하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 기존 및 제안된 NGN 제어 스킴들의 제어지연과 완료율을 측정 및 분석하였다. 두 단계 자원 제어에서 도착율 120 까지는 병행형과 순차형의 완료율이 100%를 달성하였으며, 병행형의 제어지연이 순차형에 비하여 약 21.5% 개선되었음을 확인하였다.

5각 관절 병렬 구조를 이용한 6자유도 힘 반사형 마스터 콘트롤러 (A Six-Degree-of-Freedom Force-Reflecting Master Hand Controller using Fivebar Parallel Mechanism)

  • A force-reflecting hand controller can provide the kinesthetic information obtained from a slave manipulator to the operator of a teleoperation system. The goal is to construct a compact hand controller that can provide large workspace and good force-reflecting capability. This paper presents the design and the analysis of a 6-degree-of-freedom force-reflecting hand controller using fivebar parallel mechanism. The forward kinematics of the fivebar parallel mechanism has been calculated in real-time using three pin-joint sensors in addition to six actuator position sensors. A force decomposition approach is used to compute the Jacobian. To evaluate the characteristics of the fivebar parallel mechanism, it has been compared with the other three parallel mechanisms in terms with workspace and manipulability measure. The hand controller using the fivebar parallel mechanism has been constructed and tested to verify the feasibility of the design concept.
