  • The goal of this study is to analyze and understand invention classes, student's experiences, and motivation to suggest a future direction for K-12 Maker Education in Makerspace. We collected qualitative data using open-ended survey from 100 Invention class students. Through data analysis, we could explore perceptions of students about their inventions and meaningful experiences when they used technologies for enhancing their idea and problem finding ability using interpretive approach. We found that the main themes are (1) Perception and motivation to join in the invention class courses, (2) Perception and the normal method of obtaining the idea on invention, (3) Finding new technology for enhancing of knowledge for the invention, and (4) Relevance of the learning experience and invention activities in Makerspace. As a result of this study, we found that the educational programs using technologies should focus on supporting implement of prototypes instead of helping students create their own ideas in Makerspace.

  • In this paper, a new class of general nonlinear variational inclusions involving H-monotone is introduced and studied in Hilbert spaces. By applying the resolvent operator associated with H-monotone, we prove the existence and uniqueness theorems of solution for the general nonlinear variational inclusion, construct an iterative algorithm for computing approximation solution of the general nonlinear variational inclusion and discuss the convergence of the iterative sequence generated by the algorithm. The results presented in this paper improve and extend many known results in recent literatures.

  • In this paper, we propose a class of meshless collocation approaches for the solution of time dependent partial differential algebraic equations (PDAEs) in terms of a radial basis function interpolation numerical scheme. Kansa's method and the Hermite collocation method (HCM) for PDAEs are given. A sensitivity analysis of the solutions from different shape parameter c is obtained by numerical experiments. With use of the random collocation points, we have obtain the more accurate solution by the methods than those by the finite difference method for the PDAEs with index-2, i.e, we avoid the influence from an index jump of PDAEs in some degree. Several numerical experiments show that the methods are efficient.

  • In this paper, we consider the quasilinear elliptic system $\\div(|{\nabla}u|^{p-2}{\nabla}u)=u(a_1u^{m1}+b_1(x)u^m+{\delta}_1v^n),\;\\div(|{\nabla}_v|^{q-2}{\nabla}v)=v(a_2v^{r1}+b_2(x)v^r+{\delta}_2u^s)$, in $\Omega$ where m > $m_1$ > p-2, r > $r_1$ > q-, p, q $\geq$ 2, and ${\Omega}{\subset}R^N$ is a smooth bounded domain. By constructing certain super and subsolutions, we show the existence of positive blow-up solutions and give a global estimate.

  • In this paper a new class of system of generalized nonlinear variational inequalities involving strongly monotone, relaxed co coercive and relaxed generalized monotone mappings in Hilbert spaces is introduced and studied. Based on the projection method, an equivalence between the system of generalized nonlinear variational inequalities and the fixed point problem is established, which is used to suggest some new iterative algorithms for computing approximate solutions of the system of generalized nonlinear variational inequalities. A few sufficient conditions which ensure the existence and uniqueness of solution of the system of generalized nonlinear variational inequalities are given, and the convergence analysis of iterative sequences generated by the algorithms are also discussed.

  • In this article, we propose a class of weighted estimators for the excess risk in additive risk model with a binary covariate. The proposed estimator is consistent and asymptotically normal. When the assumed model is inappropriate, however, the estimators with different weights converge to nonidentical constants. This fact enables us to develop a goodness-of-fit test for the excess assumption by comparing estimators with diffrent weights. It is shown that the proposed test converges in distribution to normal with mean zero and is consistent under the model misspecifications. Furthermore, the finite-sample properties of the proposed test procedure are investigated and two examples using real data are presented.

  • In this paper, we consider the following nonlocal fractional Laplacian equation with a singular nonlinearity (-∆)su(x) = λuβ (x) + a0u (x), x ∈ ℝn, where 0 < s < 1, γ > 0, $1<{\beta}{\leq}\frac{n+2s}{n-2s}$, λ > 0 are constants and a0 ≥ 0. We use a direct method of moving planes which introduced by Chen-Li-Li to prove that positive solutions u(x) must be radially symmetric and monotone increasing about some point in ℝn.

  • In this paper, blows-up and global solutions for a class of nonlinear divergence form parabolic equations with the abstract form of $({\varrho}(u))_t$ and time dependent coefficients are considered. The conditions are established for the existence of a solution globally and also the conditions are established for the blow up of the solution at some finite time. Moreover, the lower bound and upper bound of the blow-up time are derived if blow-up occurs.

  • Based on the data representing four typical Korean pine forest types, the age structure, DBH distribution, species composition, and forking rule were systemically analyzed for old-growth Korean pine forest in Liangshui Nature Reserve, northeast China. The age structure of Korean pine trees was strongly uneven-aged with one dominated peak following normal distribution, and age of trees varied from 100 to 180 years within a stand. The DBH and height differences in same age class (20 years) varied from 28 cm~64 cm and 5 to 20 m, respectively. Many conifer and hard wood species, such as spruce, fir, costata birch, basswood, oak, and elm, were mixed with dominated trees of Korean pine. The canopy of the old-growth Korean pine forest can be divided into two layers, and differences of mean age and height between Layer I and Layer II were ranged 80~150 years and 7~13 m, respectively. The Weibull function was used to model the diameter distribution and performed well to describe size-class distribution either with a single peak in over-story canopy and inverse J-shape in under-story canopy for old-growth Korean pine stands. The forking height of Korean pine trees ranged from 16m to 24 m (mean 19.4 m) and tree age about 120 to 160 years old. The results will provide a scientific basis to protect and recover the ecosystem of natural old-growth Korean pine and also provide the model in management of Korean pine plantation.

  • This study was carried out to examine the effect of pretreatment of veneer with aluminum sulfate solution for the manufacture of the kapur plywood on the reduction of urea resin spread. The results were as follows: 1. Specific gravities of plywoods made of the kapur veneers ranged from 0.83 to 0.84 and their moisture contents based on air dry weight showed from 10.6% to 11.4%. These met the Korean Industrial Standards. 2. In the case of dry shear strength for the 3rd class plywood, 40% reduction- spread met K S as well as normal urea resin spread. pH of the aluminum sulfate solution gave better result at pH 4.5 and pH 6 than at pH 3. For the manufacture of the 2nd class plywood, hot and cold water-wet shear strength show the best results at the following conditions; such as 20% reduction spread, pH 4.5 of aluminum sulfate solution and all veneer treatment.
