  • Nowadays DC-DC converter has been used widely in electronic production. It has a high requirement in wide input voltage, load variations, stability, providing a fast transient response and the most important thing is that it can be applied easily and efficiently. However, it is not easy to be controlled because of nonlinear system. This study introduces a fuzzy linear control design method for nonlinear systems with optimal $H^{\infty}$ robustness performance. First, the Takagi and Sugeno fuzzy linear model is employed to approximate a nonlinear system. Next, based on the fuzzy linear model, a fuzzy controller is developed to stabilize the nonlinear system, and at the same time the effect of external disturbance on control performance is attenuated to a minimum level. Thus based on the fuzzy linear model, $H^{\infty}$ performance design can be achieved in nonlinear control systems. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) techniques are employed to solve this robust fuzzy control problem. PI control structure is used and the control gains are determined based on $H^{\infty}$ control.

  • A DSP-based nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) which is robust to unknown parameter variations and speed measurement error is presented. The model reference adaptive system(MRAS) based adaptation mechanisms for the estimation of slowly varying parameters are derived using the Lyapunov stability theory. For the disturbances or quickly varying parameters, a quasi-linearized and decoupled model including the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of the PMSM is derived. Based on this model, a boundary layer integral sliding mode controller to improve the robustness and performance of a PMSM drive is designed and compared with the conventional controller. To show the validity of the proposed control scheme, simulations and experimental works are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.

  • The analysis and design method for achieving robust stabilization of Decentralized Dynamic Surface Control (DDSC) is presented for a class of interconnected nonlinear systems. While a centralized design approach of DSC was developed in [1], the decentralized approach to deal with large-scale interconnected systems is proposed under the assumption that interconnected functions among subsystems are unknown but bounded. To provide a closed-loop form with provable stability properties, augmented error dynamics for N nonlinear subsystems with DDSC are derived. Then, the reachable set for errors of the closed-loop systems will be approximated numerically in the form of an ellipsoid in the framework of convex optimization. Finally, a numerical algorithm to calculate the $L_2$ gain of the augmented error dynamics is presented.

  • The most important problem in target tracking can be said to be modeling the tracking system correctly. Although the simple linear dynamic equation for this model has used until now, the satisfactory performance could not be obtained owing to uncertainties of the real systems in the case of designing the filters baged on the dynamic equations. In this paper, we propose the extended robust Kalman filter (ERKF) which can be applied to the real target tracking system with the parameter uncertainties. A nonlinear dynamic equation with parameter uncertainties is used to express the uncertain system model mathematically, and a measurement equation is represented by a nonlinear equation to show data from the radar in a Cartesian coordinate frame. To solve the robust nonlinear filtering problem, we derive the extended robust Kalman filter equation using the Krein space approach and sum quadratic constraint. We show the proposed filter has better performance than the existing extended Kalman filter (EKF) via 3-dimensional target tracking example.

  • In this paper, we investigate a robust $H_{\infty}$ state feedback control technique for continuous time bilinear systems with an additive disturbance input. The nonlinear robust $H_{\infty}$control for bilinear systems requires a solution to the state dependent algebraic Riccati equation (SDARE). We present a new robust $H_{\infty}$control technique based on the successive approximation method for solving the SDARE by converting bilinear systems into time-varying linear systems. The proposed control method guarantees robust stability for closed loop bilinear systems. The proposed algorithm is verified by numerical examples.

  • This paper considers the problem of robust stabilization and disturbance attenuation for a class of uncertain singularly perturbed systems with norm-bounded nonlinear uncertainties. It is shown that the state feedback gain matrices can be determined to guarantee the stability of the closed-loop system for all $\varepsilon$$\in$(0, $\infty$). Based on this key result and some standard Riccati inequality approaches for robust control of singularly perturbed systems, a constructive design procedure is developed.

  • This paper presents a robust state observer design for a class of Lipschitz nonlinear systems with time delay and external disturbance. Sufficient conditions on the existence of the proposed observer are characterized by linear matrix inequalities. It is also shown that the proposed observer design can reduce the effect on the estimation error of external disturbance up to the prescribed level in spite of the existence of time delay. Finally, a numerical example is provided to verify the proposed design method.

  • In this paper, the robust adaptive controller design scheme is studied for nonlinear systems in the presence of bounded disturbances A new robust adaptive controller is designed using high-order neural networks, which avoids the singularity problem in adaptive nonlinear control. The stability of the resulting adaptive system with the proposed adaptive controller si guaranteed by suitably choosing the design parameters and initial conditions. I addition, the proposed adaptive controller provides improved transient performance and fast on-line adaptation. The ability and effectiveness of the proposed adaptive control scheme is shown trough simulations of a simple nonlinear system.

  • In this paper, a moving horizon control algorithm, which can be applied for a wide class of nonlinear systems with control and state constraints, is considered. In a neighborhood of the origin, a linear feedback controller is applied. Outside this neighborhood, a moving horizon control law is applied. The time taken to solve an optimal control problem is considered in the algorithm so that the proposed control law can be applied as an on-line controller.

  • In this paper we present the differential geometric approach for the analysis and design of sliding modes in nonlinear variable structure feedback systems. We also design the robust controller for the nonlinear system using variable structure control theory on the basis of differential geometric methods and feedback linearization applying Min-Max control based on the Lyapunov second method. The robustness against parameter uncertainties for robot manipulators with flexible joint is considered. Simulation results are presented and show the advantage of the proposed nonlinear control method.
