A Customized Cleaning Agent for the Maintenance of Electric Fume Collector Used for the Purification of Effluent Gas from the Textile Industry (섬유산업 배기가스 정화용 Electric Fume Collector 설비의 유지보수를 위한 맞춤형 세정제)

  • A customized cleaning agent was investigated for improving the performance decreased by the pollution of collecting plates in an electric fume collector (EFC) which was developed and applied for the purification of effluent gas including oil mist from the textile industry. The pollutants on the surface of collecting plates were blackened by the condensation of oil mist for a long time and difficult to remove by general cleaning agents. The composition of an optimized cleaning agent consisted of alkali, alcohol, glycol and non-ionic surfactant sources was determined by considering the pollutant properties and effect on the damage of the basic metal of collecting plate and so on. The developed cleaning agent solution diluted by 9.1% was applied to the field test, and also the pollutants strongly adhered on collecting plate surfaces were successfully removed by a simple spraying method. The effluent gas purification efficiency of EFC increased significantly by cleaning of collecting plates.

Influences of Cold and Thermal Therapy on ILs and VEGF Expression after Muscle Contusion in Rats (온냉치료가 근타박 유발 흰쥐의와 발현에 미치는 ILs와 VEGF 발현에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of cold therapy and thermal therapy, and immunoreactivity of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), Interleukin-1(IL-1) and Interleukin-6(IL-6) on angiogenesis after muscle contusion injury. Methods : Muscle contusion injury was induced in the gastronemius muscle by dropping a metal bead(22.8g). Cold and thermal theraphy was applied immediately and directly to the skin of injured muscle daily for three days. (experimental group-1 : $5^{\circ}$ cold pack, experimental group-2 : $50^{\circ}$ hot pack, control group non applied, treatment time : 10minutes) Results : The experimental group-1 and 2 showed higher immunoreactivity of VEGF, IL-1, IL-6 than control group during 3 days(P<0.05). And the experimental group-2 showed higher than the experimental group-1 especially VEGF(P<0.05). Conclusion : There data thermal therapy was more effective than cold therapy in the acute muscle contusion injury.

  • A low cost YBCO oxide powder was employed as a starting precursor for MOD process. YBCO oxide is advantageous over metal acetates or TFA salts which are popular starting precursors for conventional MOD-TFA process because that YBCO oxide precursor is cheap and easy to control molar ratio. YBCO thin films were prepared by this oxide-precursor-based MOD process and annealing condition was optimized. The YBCO thin film annealed at below $780^{\circ}C$ shows no transport $I_c$ and poor microstructure. Raman spectroscopic study of YBCO thin film indicates that YBCO thin film prepared at below $780^{\circ}C$ contains a number of imperfections such as non-superconducting $BaCuO_2$ phase, cation disorder, etc. However, the YBCO thin film treated at above $800^{\circ}C$ shows improvement in microstructure and current transport properties.   • Carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) could be stored in the form of Ca and Mg compounds including alkaline earth metal by carbonation. The possibility of $CO_2$ storage was tested by using desulfurized ash from fluidized bed type boiler as raw material. Autoclave was used for maintaining the reaction pressure and temperature for the carbonation. The analysis of weight change rate, XRD, and TG/DTA proved that more than 15 % of carbonation rate was obtained under 10 $kgf/cm^2$ and $120^{\circ}C$-10 min.

  • The silicon dioxide ($SiO_2$) was deposited using various gas as oxygen and nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) in nowadays. In order to improve electrical characteristics and the interface state density ($D_{it}$) in low temperature, It was deposited with carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) and silane ($SiH_4$) gas by inductively coupled plasma chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD). Each $D_{it}$ of $SiO_2$ using $CO_2$ and $N_2O$ gas was $1.30{\times}10^{10}cm^{-2}{\cdot}eV^{-1}$ and $3.31{\times}10^{10}cm^{-2}{\cdot}eV^{-1}$. It showed $SiO_2$ using $CO_2$ gas was about 2.55 times better than $N_2O$ gas. After 10 years when the thin film was applied to metal/insulator/semiconductor(MIS)-nonvolatile memory(NVM), MIS NVM using $SiO_2$($CO_2$) on tunneling layer had window memory of 2.16 V with 60% retention at bias voltage from +16 V to -19 V. However, MIS NVM applied $SiO_2$($N_2O$) to tunneling layer had 2.48 V with 61% retention at bias voltage from +20 V to -24 V. The results show $SiO_2$ using $CO_2$ decrease the $D_{it}$ and it improves the operating voltage.

A PHOTOELASTIC STUDY ON THE STRESS ANALYSIS UNDER MADIBULAR DISTAL-EXTENSION REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE WITH DIFFERENT DESIGN OF THE MAJOR CONNECTOR (주 연결장치의 설계변화에 따른 하악 유리단 국소의치의 광탄성 응력 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the magnitude and distribution of stress using a photoelastic model from a distal extension removable partial dentures with three kinds of mandibular major connectors, that is, lingual bar, linguoplate, and swing-lock attachment. A photoelastic model was made of the epoxy resin(PC-1) and hardener(PCH-1) and coated with plastic cement-1 (PC-1) at the lingual surface of the epoxy model and set with three kinds of chrome-cobalt removable partial dentures. A bilateral vertical load of 15kg to the middle portion of the metal bar crossing both the first molars of the right and the left, and a unilateral vertical load of 12.5kg to the right first molar were applied with the use of specially designed loading device and the reflective circular polariscope was used to analyze the photoelastic model under each condition. The following results were obtained : 1. When the bilateral vertical load was applied, the magnitude and distribution of the stress concentration of the edentulous area and the terminal abutment or adjacent teeth was in the order of lingual bar, linguoplate, swing-lock attachment. 2. When the unilateral vertical load was applied, the magnitude and distribution of the stress concentration of the edentulous area and the terminal abutment or adjacent teeth was in the order of lingual bar, linguoplate, swing-lock attachment. 3. When the unilateral vertical load was applied, the magnitude and distribution of the stress concentration of the termial abutment or adjacent teeth on the non-loaded side showed the least stress distribution in case of swing-lock attachment. 4. When the bilateral vertical load and the unilateral vertical load were applied the swing-lock attachment showed the mildest uniform stress distribution on the edentulous area and the alveolar bone around the abutment teeth.

Comparison of prosthetic models produced by traditional and additive manufacturing methods

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to verify the clinical-feasibility of additive manufacturing by comparing the accuracy of four different manufacturing methods for metal coping: the conventional lost wax technique (CLWT); subtractive methods with wax blank milling (WBM); and two additive methods, multi jet modeling (MJM), and micro-stereolithography (Micro-SLA). MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty study models were created using an acrylic model with the maxillary upper right canine, first premolar, and first molar teeth. Based on the scan files from a non-contact blue light scanner (Identica; Medit Co. Ltd., Seoul, Korea), thirty cores were produced using the WBM, MJM, and Micro-SLA methods, respectively, and another thirty frameworks were produced using the CLWT method. To measure the marginal and internal gap, the silicone replica method was adopted, and the silicone images obtained were evaluated using a digital microscope (KH-7700; Hirox, Tokyo, Japan) at 140X magnification. Analyses were performed using two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey post hoc test (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The mean marginal gaps and internal gaps showed significant differences according to tooth type (P<.001 and P<.001, respectively) and manufacturing method (P<.037 and P<.001, respectively). Micro-SLA did not show any significant difference from CLWT regarding mean marginal gap compared to the WBM and MJM methods. CONCLUSION. The mean values of gaps resulting from the four different manufacturing methods were within a clinically allowable range, and, thus, the clinical use of additive manufacturing methods is acceptable as an alternative to the traditional lost wax-technique and subtractive manufacturing.

  • The optimum temperature and pH for the enzyme activity were 45$^{\circ}C$ and 10.0, respectively. The enzyme was stable in a pH range of 5 to 10, and 62% of its activity was lost on heat treatment of 60$^{\circ}C$ for 20 min. The activity of the purified enzyme was inhibited by $Fe^{2+},\;Zn^{2+}\;and\;Pb^{2+}$, and slightly activated by $Mn^{2+}\;and\;Ca^{2+}$. ${\gamma}$-Chloromercuribenzoic acid, 2,4-dinitrophenol and $H_{2}O_{2}$ did not show inhibitroy effect on the lipolytic activity of the alkaline lipase but ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid inhibited the enzyem activity. This suggested that the enzyme have metal group in its active site. Sodium salts of bile acids stimulated the enzyme activity. Analysis of hydrolyzates of olive oil after the reaction revealed that Serratia liquefaciens AL-11 produced non-specific lipolytic enzyme.

  • Foreign object debris (FOD) is a generic term for various metals and non-metal foreign object and materials with potential hazards to aircraft operations. Since the method of manual FOD detection and collection in the aircraft moving area is very low in efficiency and economic efficiency, it is essential to develop to FOD automatic detection system suitable for domestic environment. This paper is the result of the performance comparison test results of the two systems for the combined operation of each optimal detection time and 95% accuracy above 100 m for complex operation using the fixed FOD automatic detection system and the mobile FOD system using EO/IR camera and radar at Taean Airfield Hanseo University. It is expected that FOD can be performed unattended through continuous R & D.

Conservation of a Bronze Incense Burner from Chungung-dong, Hanam (하남시 춘궁동 출토 청동현향로(靑銅懸香爐)의 제작기술과 보존처리)

  • The bronze incense burner, discovered in Chungung-dong, Hanam, Gyeonggi-do in 1971, is a hanging incense burner dating from the Goryeo period. The incense burner was covered with a thick layer of clay. The object was in a severely deteriorated state, affected by bronze disease which resulted in extensive corrosion. Numerous cracks were present across its surface, and some parts had been broken off. To preserve and display the bronze incense burner in a stable condition, deposits of foreign material were removed from the surface, and the weakened metal was strengthened. Cracked and broken areas were reinforced using woven glass fiber, followed by the application of epoxy resin to restore the shape. To investigate the method of production, a chemical analysis was performed, and the microstructure was examined. The chemical analysis revealed that the body of the incense burner as well as the ear, loop, lid and the knob were cast in a ternary alloy of Cu-Sn-Pb. Moreover, copper nails with high copper content were used to securely join the ear to the body of the incense burner. The microstructure was mainly α-phase, and non-intermetallic inclusions composed of Cu and S were detected.
