The Relationship between Centrality and Winning Percentage in Competition Networks (경연 네트워크에서 중심성과 승률의 관계)

  • We identified a competition network which has never been studied before and investigated the relationship between centrality of participants in singing competition and their winning percentage within the competition network. We collected competition data from 'Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend', which is a Korean television music competition program, and constructed a competition network. We calculated centrality and winning percentage and analyzed their relationship using correlation analysis, regression analysis, and visualization. There are four main findings in this research. First, a competition network is a scale-free network whose degree distribution follows a power law. Second, there is a logarithmic relationship between the count of competition and closeness. Third, winning percentage converges to approximately 60% for players who have participated in more than 20 competitions. Lastly, a strength of opponents affects approximately 23% of winning percentage for players with less than 20 competitions. The academic significance of this study is that we pioneered the definition of the competition network and applied social network analysis method. Another significant contribution of this paper is that we found explicit patterns between the centrality and winning percentage, suggesting ways to improve social relationship in competition network and to increase winning percentage.

Consumer Associative Network Analysis on Device and Service Convergence

  • Our research brings managerial insights for developing new digital convergence of devices and services. To explain the phenomenon of device and service convergence, we combine two different approaches from separate research fields: a perceptual mapping technique generally used for segmentation in marketing and associative network analysis mobilized to understanding network structure of core and peripheral as well as the information mediating role of nodes in network science. By combining these two approaches, we provide an in-depth analysis of the associations among devices and services by assessing the centrality of device and service nodes in an associative network. This is done by examining the connections between these services and devices as well as investigating the role of mediation in the combined device-service associative network. Our results based on bi-partite network analysis of survey responses from 250 Internet Protocol (IP) television viewers show which device and which service will play the major role in future device and service convergence as well as which characteristics and functionalities have to be incorporated into future convergence. Among the devices, the mobile handset with the betweenness centrality of 0.26 appears to be the device that would lead future device convergence. Among the services, wireless broadband with the betweenness centrality of 0.276 appears to be the service on which future service convergence needs to be developed. This result is quite unexpected, since wireless broadband has a lower penetration rate than other services, such as fixed broadband and cable TV. In addition, we indicate the possibility of converging devices, such as personal digital assistant (PDA) and mobile handset, and services, such as IPTV and mobile Internet, into wireless broadband services in the future.

  • 2012년 말 아날로그 TV의 종료와 함께 기존의 아날로그 TV에서 사용하고 있는 채널들이 유휴 대역으로 존재한다. 현재 비교적 많은 유휴 상태로 있는 대역을 효율적으로 사용하기 위한 논의가 지속적으로 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 방송서비스를 위한 주파수 재분배 방법에 대해서 분석하였다. 차세대 방송 서비스는 역호환성(Backward Compatibility)이 보장되어야 한다고 가정하고, 현재 구성 되어있는 다중 주파수 망(MFN : Multi Frequency Network)의 한계와 이를 극복할 수 있는 방법에 대해서 기술하였다. 단일 주파수 망(SFN : Single Frequency Network)의 구성이 가능 한 경우, 현재 서비스 중인 HDTV 방송 서비스와 차후 제공할 수 있는 차세대 방송 서비스를 동시에 제공할 수 있도록 주파수 분배 안을 제시하였다.

  • 다양한 무선 통신 서비스의 등장으로 주파수 자원의 수요가 급증하여 스펙트럼 이용 효율을 극대화하기 위한 새로운 기술 개발의 필요성이 대두되고 있으며, 이에 대한 기술로 Cognitive Radio (CR) 기술이 주목받고 있다. CR 기술은 선택된 주파수 대역에 최적의 QoS를 제공하기 위해서는 먼저 주파수 환경에 적응성을 갖는 스펙트럼 센싱 (Spectrum Sensing) 기술이 필요하며, CR 기술이 적용된 무선 브로드밴드 네트워크 (AWBN : Adaptive Wireless Broadband Network) 모듈은 최근 각광받고 있는 방통융합 솔루션의 Hot Issue인 QoS 보장 홈네트워크 기반의 멀티미디어 전송(TV Portal Service)용 네트워크에 최적화된 솔루션으로 활용될 것으로 기대하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, IEEE 802.22 그룹에서 연구되고 있는 비어있는 TV 대역 및 마이크로폰 대역에 활용될 뿐만 아니라, 기존의 Mobile WiMax에 의한 브로드밴드 네트워크에도 활용 가능하다. 본 고에서는 IEEE 802.22/16d 시스템 규격에 의해 개발된 AWBN 시스템 개발 내용을 기술한다.

  • This study tried to research on clothing styles of show hostess in the cable television home-shopping network program. Especially, show hostess's clothing styles were classified into 5 sections according to selling products, that is baby goods, insured goods, underwear, bedclothes and beauty goods. item is examined 7 levels by texture, color, clothing item, fashion image, fashion trend, fashion type, and fashion silhouette. The results showed that significant correlations between show host's clothing and selling products. The another findings of this study is that show hostess's clothing is aimed at the taste of main consumer such as housewife. Conseguently this study reaffirms the importance of the shopping hostess's clothing influnce according to selling products's characteristics.

  • In order to reduce the cost of software maintenance including software modification, we suggest the object oriented program with checking the version of application program using the Java language and the technique of executing the downloaded application program via network using the application manager. In order to change the traditional scheduler to the application manager we have adopted the Xlet concept in the nuclear fields using the network. In usual Xlet means a Java application that runs on the digital television receiver. The Java TV Application Program Interface(API) defines an application model called the Xlet application lifecycle. Java applications that use this lifecycle model are called Xlets. The Xlet application lifecycle is compatible with the existing application environment and virtual machine technology.   • The article proposes that empathy differs in severity and types among students of different specialties. And to test this hypothesis, an experimental study of students from 4 different faculties was carried out. As a result of the study, it was found that empathy is more pronounced among students of "humanitarian" specialties, and students of "exact" specialties have the least pronounced empathic abilities.

  • It is not easy to define a boundary between TV and home computer in these day since developing H/W and S/W of computer technology induces that TV is conflated with computer. Coming digital HD broadcasting forces for replacement of TV at home and the trend of TV is became bigger. The evolved TV is able to replace the computer by connecting to the network and people want to do interactions with contents by using the bidirectional communication. Therefore, it is expected to changing the human lifestyle. It is natural that contents for all members of family are needed, since screen of TV become bigger. It is required that the contents should guarantees the accessability of information to the all of family members and the easy interaction with contents. But, the related basic research is not enough to catch the user's eye to induce flow or presence. Our goal of this study is to analyse effects of experiential space perception on performing interactive digital contents. The result shows that users interacted with contents without any difficulty when they met a same dimension and shape of objects as dimension and shape objects in their experiences or learning.

  • 3D TV was been able to see in the market in early in this year. Tablet PC such as ipad by Apple and Galaxytab by Samsung were introduced recently. Those are possible by developing H/W and S/W of computer technology. The needs of interactive contents in many areas including education and entertainment area are increasing rapidly according to the various information devices are or will be in the market. Fore the more, GoogleTV and AppleTV are compete each other to dominate the world market in advance recently. CookTV tries to dominate in the domestic market by upgrading the current system. Diverse information devices are in the market means various size of displayers are able to be shown in our life. As TV is fused to computer, the displayer is substituted to TV's screen and the trend of TV is became bigger. The evolved TV is able to replace the computer by connecting to the network and people want to do interactions with contents by using the bidirectional communication. Therefore, it is expected to changing the human lifestyle. It is natural that contents for all members of family are needed, since TV's screen become bigger. It is required that the contents should guarantees the accessability of information to the all of family members and the easy interaction with contents. Our goal of experiment are to analyse the influence of interaction with contents as the size of images and to analyse a learning effect of contents quantitatively by applying a statistical method. Users interacted with contents without any difficulty when they met a same dimension and shape of objects as ame dimension and shape objects in their experiences or learning, was confirmed. And the learning effect were analysed and explained by applying the correlation.

  • Since the smart phone was first introduced, the amount of mobile traffic has increased explosively. The OTT service with personal broadcasting and TV contents and the number of users have been increased in wired network, and there are needs to expand the OTT service to mobile network. In the case of the OTT service in mobile network, the relative small and finite resource may cause the overload of the network due to the massive and high transfer rate. In this paper, we consider a future situation of the OTT user services in the cellular network and propose a novel D2D communication scheme for location-based OTT service, which can reduce and distribute the amount of video traffics. To effectively handle the traffic of OTT services, we propose D2DS and LCS functional blocks in EPC network, which can provide location-based service and D2D management. And, we suggest additional procedures for the location-based service of both content provider and contents receiver UEs with the operation of the proposed D2DS and LCS function block.
