  • In this paper, we propose the distributed robust beamforming design scheme in cognitive two-way amplify-and-forward (AF) relay networks with imperfect channel state information (CSI). Assuming the CSI errors follow a complex Gaussian distribution, the objective of this paper is to design the robust beamformer which minimizes the total transmit power of the collaborative relays. This design will guarantee the outage probability of signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) beyond a target level at each secondary user (SU), and satisfies the outage probability of interference generated on the primary user (PU) above the predetermined maximum tolerable interference power. Due to the multiple CSI uncertainties in the two-way transmission, the probabilistic constrained optimization problem is intractable and difficult to obtain a closed-form solution. To deal with this, we reformulate the problem to the standard form through a series of matrix transformations. We then accomplish the problem by using the probabilistic approach based on two sorts of Bernstein-type inequalities and the worst-case approach based on S-Procedure. The simulation results indicate that the robust beamforming designs based on the probabilistic method and the worst-case method are both robust to the CSI errors. Meanwhile, the probabilistic method can provide higher feasibility rate and consumes less power.

  • High-Rate Wireless Personal Area Networks (HR-WPANs) in IEEE 802.15.3 standard use a TIme Devision Multiple Access (TDMA) protocol to support isochronous traffic. Isochronous traffic requires a delay-bounded service. However, the HR-WPAN standard suffers from long access delay and association delay. In this paper, we propose an enhanced MAC protocol for the delay-bounded traffic. This proposed protocol provides a way that a central node is able to collect traffic status on all member nodes. Furthermore, by utilizing the information, a scheduling algorithm is also proposed in order to synchronize the instant of a packet transmission with that of the packet arrival. With the proposed protocol and algorithm, the delay of access and association can be reduced. Performance analysis is carried out and the significant performance enhancement is observed.

  • Wireless data transmission is vulnerable to attackers and hackers. Recently, the fast development of wireless communication systems seamlessly increase the demand for security in this area. Moreover, error correction is especially important because various kinds of interferences among wireless devices. In order to solve two above problems, we propose to apply MCC (M-sequence Convolutional Code) in the system which is able to protect information and correct errors. The proposed system can obtain higher secure property by randomly changing the output connections by the proposed M-sequence. Performance of the system is analyzed according to BER (Bit Error Rate) and secure levels. The simulation results revealed that we can get the coding gain of 0.1 dB over conventional convolution coding technique. The proposed algorithm is installed in physical layer and easily implemented. Another advantage of our proposed (M-sequence and convolutional code) is that it can be applied to CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) communication system.

  • Wireless mobile communication systems request high speed mobility and high speed data transmission capability. In order to meet the requirements, OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) is mainly adopted in the physical layer of the wireless systems. In commercial wireless mobile systems, IEEE802.(11a, 16e, etc) series seem to be used as the modulation method. For supporting multiple air-interfaces in a wireless mobile system, different kinds of OFDM based modulation methods should be supported in one modem chip. It requires a variable point IFFT/FFT or reconfigurable IFFT/FFT processor. In this paper, we propose the design method of a reconfigurable IFFT/FFT processor. In addition, it is shown that a reconfigurable IFFT/FFT processor can he implemented by using the proposed method.

  • Multi-carrier CDMA is a transmission scheme where data symbols are spread in the frequency domain with a spread code then transmitted using multiple carriers. It is robust against narrowband interference because of its long symbol duration. However, due to large sidebands of the rectangular window frequency response, subchannels spectrally overlap with neighboring subchannels, which leads to substantial intercarrier interference in a dispersive channel. In this paper, we consider a mult-carrier CDMA system where subchannel spectral containment is achiveved by M-band cosine modulated filter bank (CMFB). In CMFB based MC-CDMA, subchannel spectral containment is achieved using the filter bank of longer impulse response than that of conventional discrete Fourier transform (DFT) filter bank. We show that spectral containment feature of the CMFB based fading channel is analyzed using computer simulations.

  • In this paper, an area-efficient symbol detector is proposed for MIMO communication systems with two transmit and two receive antennas. The proposed symbol detector can support both the spatial multiplexing mode and spatial diversity mode for MIMO transmission technique, and shows the optimal maximum likelihood (ML) performance. Also, by sharing the hardware block with multi-stage pipeline structure and using the complex multiplier based on polar-coordinate,the complexity of the proposed architecture is dramatically decreased. The proposed symbol detector was designed in hardware description language (HDL) and implemented with Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA. With the proposed architecture, the number of logic slices for the proposed symbol detection is 52490 and the number of DSP48s (dedicated multiplier) is 52, which are reduced by 35.3% and 85.3%, respectively, compared with the conventional architecture.

  • In this paper, the beamforming and user scheduling scheme for device-to-device (D2D) underlaying celullar networks with partial channel state information is investigated. In the proposed scheme, cellular users whose channels are nearly orthogonal to the channel between base station and D2D receiver are selected for unitary beamforming so as to minimize the interference to the D2D receiver. The interference caused by underlaying D2D communication can be minimized by reducing the D2D transmitter's transmission power. To enhance the cellular users' throughput further, we also investigate codebook generation method in which each code vector belongs to multiple unitary code matrices. From simulation results, we show that the proposed beamforming and user scheduling scheme mitigates D2D interference to the cellular networks and the codebook generation method improves cellular users' throughput.

  • Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs) refer to autonomous networks in which wireless data communications are established between multiple nodes in a given coverage area without a base station or centralized administration. Because of node mobility and limited battery life, the network topology may changes frequently. Selecting the most reliable path during route discovery process is important to improve performance in ad hoc networks. In this paper, an enhanced routing protocol based on AODV(Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing) by monitoring variation of receiving signal strength is proposed. New metric function that consists of node mobility and hops of path is used for routing decision. For preventing route failure by node movement during data transmission, a new route maintenance named as LRC (Local Route Change) is presented. If the node movement is detected, the routing agent switches path to its neighbor node in LRC. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed routing scheme is superior to previous AODY protocol.

  • RFID(Radio frequency indentification) technology, that the reader detect the tag information attached on the objects without contact, is considered the kernel of realizing tile Ubiquitous Sensor Network. Particularly, because there are lots of tags(which the reader have to detect) in the UHF RFID system(that is applied at the Logistic & Distribution industry). In the UHF RFID system the negative effects, we called the tag-collision, may occur and we should solve these effects. So, in the EPCglobal Gen2 protocol they present the Slotted Random Anti-collision algorithm to prevent the tag-collision effect. In this paper, in order to minimize the tag-collision effect and bring on the system efficiency, we propose the Power Increasing Method that controls the transmission power of the reader depending on the environment and verily the improved performance.
