  • A context-aware services platform supporting mobile agents consists of sensor nodes and a sensor coordinator. Sensor nodes collect environmental information and transmit the collected information to the sensor coordinator through wireless sensor networks. The sensor coordinator passes the information to the context-aware service module, and the mobile agent. The context-aware service module or the mobile agent performs services suitable for a user's situation based on the environmental information and a service actuation message is delivered to an actuation node through the sensor coordinator. In this paper, we present a context-aware services platform structure employed in our project, and describe context-aware services platform interfaces with a context-aware service module and mobile agents.

  • In large-scale distributed sensor networks, it is often recommended to employ mobile sinks, instead of fixed base stations, for data collection to prolong network lifetime and enhance security. Mobile sinks may also be used, e.g., for network repair, identification and isolation of compromised sensor nodes and localized reprogramming, etc. In such circumstances, mobile sinks should be able to securely interact with neighbor sensor nodes while traversing the network. This paper presents a secure and efficient mobile query protocol that can be used for such purposes.

  • With the increasing popularity of P2P file sharing and advancement of mobile technologies, mobile P2P has revealed its attraction. Anonymity has become an increasing requirement in mobile networks. To reduce receiving garbage files, file validation and filtering are other requirements in the mobile P2P environment. If there are effective file filtering and validation mechanism, nodes' battery duration will be saved. In this paper, we do an analysis of security and anonymity in P2P file sharing and exchange system in mobile ad hoc environment, and propose a new efficient anonymous protocol, which can provide anonymity by broadcasting with a probabilistic algorithm and hiding real hop count information, the file validation by the file's special hash value and file filtering mechanism through the collaboration of middle nodes.

  • Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) have attracted great research interest in recent years. Among many issues, lack of motivation for participating nodes to collaborate forms a major obstacle to the adoption of MANETs. Many contemporary collaboration enforcement techniques employ reputation mechanisms for nodes to avoid and penalize malicious participants. Reputation information is propagated among participants and updated based on complicated trust relationships to thwart false accusation of benign nodes. The aforementioned strategy suffers from low scalability and is likely to be exploited by adversaries. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to address these problems. With the proposed technique, no reputation information is propagated in the network and malicious nodes cannot cause false penalty to benign hosts. Nodes classify their one-hop neighbors through direct observation and misbehaving nodes are penalized within their localities. Data packets are dynamically rerouted to circumvent selfish nodes. As a result, overall network performance is greatly enhanced. This approach significantly simplifies the collaboration enforcement process, incurs low overhead, and is robust against various malicious behaviors. Simulation results based on different system configurations indicate that the proposed technique can significantly improve network performance with very low communication cost.

  • MANET composed of only wireless nodes is increasingly utilized in various fields. However, it is exposed to many security vulnerabilities because it doesn't have any infrastructure and transmits data by using multi-hop method. Therefore, MANET should be applied the intrusion detection technique that can detect efficiently malicious nodes and decrease impacts of various attacks. In this paper, we propose a distributed intrusion detection technique that can detect the various attacks while improving the efficiency of attack detection and reducing the false positive rate. The proposed technique uses the cluster structure to manage the information in the center and monitor the traffic of their neighbor nodes directly in all nodes. We use three parameters for attack detection. We also applied an efficient authentication technique using only key exchange without the help of CA in order to provide integrity when exchanging information between cluster heads. This makes it possible to free the forgery of information about trust information of the nodes and attack nodes. The superiority of the proposed technique can be confirmed through comparative experiments with existing intrusion detection techniques.

  • Mobile nodes in high mobility ad hoc networks might come together in specific areas. In non-uniformly distributed networks, traffic load can be concentrated to intermediate nodes between dense clusters, and networks performance can be degraded. In this paper, we proposed a cluster based routing protocol that heavy traffic nodes adaptively react according to traffic load. The simulation result shows that the proposed protocol reduce packet loss and end-to-end delay.

  • In sensor network environment, it is very important to localize sensor nodes. In order to know the position of nodes without GPS signals, the anchor robot approach is representatively used. Therefore, in this paper, we propose 4-Robot Localization Scheme (4RLS) that uses four mobile robots to efficiently localize sensor nodes for the fast time. Then, we show the improved performance of 4RLS in comparison with previously used three robot scheme through the real implementation and analysis.

  • Smartphone applications like games, image processing, e-commerce and social networking are gaining exponential growth, with the ubiquity of cellular services. This demands increased computational power and storage from mobile devices with a sufficiently high bandwidth for mobile internet service. But mobile nodes are highly constrained in the processing and storage, along with the battery power, which further restrains their dependability. Adopting the unlimited storage and computing power offered by cloud servers, it is possible to overcome and turn these issues into a favorable opportunity for the growth of mobile cloud computing. As the mobile internet data traffic is predicted to grow at the rate of around 65 percent yearly, even advanced services like 3G and 4G for mobile communication will fail to accommodate such exponential growth of data. On the other hand, developers extend popular applications with high end graphics leading to smart phones, manufactured with multicore processors and graphics processing units making them unaffordable. Therefore, to address the need of resource constrained mobile nodes and bandwidth constrained cellular networks, the computations can be migrated to resourceful servers connected to cloud. The server now acts as a bridge that should enable the participating mobile nodes to offload their computations through Wi-Fi directly to the virtualized server. Our proposed model enables an on-demand service offloading with a decision support system that identifies the capabilities of the client's hardware and software resources in judging the requirements for offloading. Further, the node's location, context and security capabilities are estimated to facilitate adaptive migration.

  • A node of mobile IPv6 moving foreign networks needs authentication process to support right services against from security threat. AAA is a trust infrastructure that authenticates, authorizes, and accounts nodes receiving a network service. And Mobile IPv6 Working Group recommends use of AAA infrastructure to authenticate mobile nodes. Event though AAA infrastructure provides strong authentication functions, it should exchange a lot of messages to authenticate mobile nodes every movement. The exchange of lots of messages causes latency and it is interfered with realization of real-time communication. This paper proposes an authentication method of improved speed using hash value of mobile node to reduce authentication latency. Directly after movement, a mobile node applying a Proposed method uses extended existing security authentication for a while and deletes the establishment latency of new security authentication. Performance evaluation of a proposed method verifies the efficiency through the analysis of cost comparison with other methods. The conclusion of performance evaluation is that the proposed method gets more 25% performance improvement than a general method when a mobile node moves another subnet.

  • Network Mobility basic support protocol (NEMO Basic) extends the operation of Mobile IPv6 to provide uninterrupted Internet connectivity to the communicating nodes of mobile networks. The protocol uses a mobile router (MR) in the mobile network to perform prefix scope binding updates with its home agent (HA) to establish a bi-directional tunnel between the HA and MR. This solution reduces location-update signaling by making network movements transparent to the mobile nodes (MNs) behind the MR. However, delays in data delivery and higher overheads are likely to occur because of sub-optimal routing and multiple encapsulation of data packets. To manage the mobility of the mobile network, it is important to minimize packet overhead, to optimize routing, and to reduce the volume of handoff signals over the nested mobile network. This paper proposes en aggregate router-assisted route optimization (ARARO) scheme for nested mobile networks support which introduces a local anchor router in order to localize handoff and to optimize routing. With ARARO, a mobile network node (MNN) behind a MR performs route optimization with a correspondent node (CN) as the MR sends a binding update message (BU) to aggregate router (AGR) via root-MR on behalf of all active MNNs when the mobile network moves. This paper describes the new architecture and mechanisms and provides simulation results which indicate that our proposal reduces transmission delay, handoff latency and signaling overhead. To evaluate the scheme, we present the results of simulation.
