강의녹화를 기반으로한 MSC 교수법 개발 (A Development of Teaching Skill based on Recording Lecture in MSC)

  • This method is a new experimental model for a mathematical education in Engineering students. We compare two different classes; one was recorded the lecture with scenario and the other was not. Also we set up the detailed structures in every lecture for mathematical modeling and solving parts. The purpose for a new model is 1) to improve the students's ability to solve the mathematical problem, 2) how to approach to getting a solution for each problem by system and 3) to provide the lectures anytime to students who want to study more mathematics.

An Error Embedded Runge-Kutta Method for Initial Value Problems

  • In this paper, we propose an error embedded Runge-Kutta method to improve the traditional embedded Runge-Kutta method. The proposed scheme can be applied into most explicit embedded Runge-Kutta methods. At each integration step, the proposed method is comprised of two equations for the solution and the error, respectively. These solution and error are obtained by solving an initial value problem whose solution has the information of the error at each integration step. The constructed algorithm controls both the error and the time step size simultaneously and possesses a good performance in the computational cost compared to the original method. For the assessment of the effectiveness, the van der Pol equation and another one having a difficulty for the global error control are numerically solved. Finally, a two-body Kepler problem is also used to assess the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

  • Speech quality measurement is sorted subjective and objective speech quality measurements based on the mathematics representation. Between two, subjective speech quality measurement is able to be evaluated more accurate speech quality then objective one but it has a demerit such as taking much more time and cost to performance it. However, using objective speech quality measurement being able to predict the result of evaluating the subjective speech quality compliments the demerit of subjective standards which is mentioned former. In this paper, we propose the objective speech quality measurement in order to evaluate naturalness assessment approximately like subjective speech quality measurement. We measured naturalness of speech with estimating speaking rate, variation of pitch and energy.

Moment-rotation prediction of precast beam-to-column connections using extreme learning machine

  • The performance of precast concrete structures is greatly influenced by the behaviour of beam-to-column connections. A single connection may be required to transfer several loads simultaneously so each one of those loads must be considered in the design. A good connection combines practicality and economy, which requires an understanding of several factors; including strength, serviceability, erection and economics. This research work focuses on the performance aspect of a specific type of beam-to-column connection using partly hidden corbel in precast concrete structures. In this study, the results of experimental assessment of the proposed beam-to-column connection in precast concrete frames was used. The purpose of this research is to develop and apply the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) for moment-rotation prediction of precast beam-to-column connections. The ELM results are compared with genetic programming (GP) and artificial neural network (ANN). The reliability of the computational models was accessed based on simulation results and using several statistical indicators.

수학 워크북 도입에 대한 교사들의 인식 조사 및 구성 방안 제안 (Research on Teachers' Recognition about the Introduction of Mathematics Workbook and the Suggestion of Its Organization)

  • 본 연구는 수학 교과에서 워크북의 필요성과 수준별 수업에 적합한 교과서와 워크북의 체제, 워크북의 구성 내용에 대한 교사들의 생각을 알아보고 워크북의 내용을 어떻게 구성해야 할지 모색해보고자 전국의 초, 중, 고등학교 교사들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 교사들은 학생들의 자기 주도적 학습을 위해서나 교과서 이외의 교수 학습 자료로 이용하고 수준별 수업을 운영하는 데 도움을 받기 위해서 워크북 도입이 필요하다고 응답하였다. 또한 학교 현장에서 수준별 수업을 운영하기에 적합한 교과서와 워크북 체제는 '교과서 1종과 워크북 3종'이라고 가장 많이 답했다. 워크북의 내용을 교과서와 중복되지 않는 방향에서 다양한 풀이 방법이 제시되는 연습문제, 수학적 오류, 수준별 문제, 수학적 활동, 논술이나 수행평가, 단원 평가와 정기고사 방식의 평가, 문제 풀이 해설과 정답으로 구성될 것을 교사들은 원하고 있었다.

AN ASSESSMENT OF PARALLEL PRECONDITIONERS FOR THE INTERIOR SPARSE GENERALIZED EIGENVALUE PROBLEMS BY CG-TYPE METHODS ON AN IBM REGATTA MACHINE

  • Computing the interior spectrum of large sparse generalized eigenvalue problems $Ax\;=\;{\lambda}Bx$, where A and b are large sparse and SPD(Symmetric Positive Definite), is often required in areas such as structural mechanics and quantum chemistry, to name a few. Recently, CG-type methods have been found useful and hence, very amenable to parallel computation for very large problems. Also, as in the case of linear systems proper choice of preconditioning is known to accelerate the rate of convergence. After the smallest eigenpair is found we use the orthogonal deflation technique to find the next m-1 eigenvalues, which is also suitable for parallelization. This offers advantages over Jacobi-Davidson methods with partial shifts, which requires re-computation of preconditioner matrx with new shifts. We consider as preconditioners Incomplete LU(ILU)(0) in two variants, ever-relaxation(SOR), and Point-symmetric SOR(SSOR). We set m to be 5. We conducted our experiments on matrices from discretizations of partial differential equations by finite difference method. The generated matrices has dimensions up to 4 million and total number of processors are 32. MPI(Message Passing Interface) library was used for interprocessor communications. Our results show that in general the Multi-Color ILU(0) gives the best performance.

수학 교과에서의 수행과제를 활용한 수업 방안 탐색 -백워드 이론을 기반으로- (An Investigation on the Mathematical Instruction Utilizing Performance Tasks according to the Backward Design)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the possibility of mathematical instruction through performance task activities based on the The Backward Design, which was suggested at first by Wiggins & McTighe in 1998. The Design deals with a performance assessment task involving the whole objective and its entire content of a lesson. Based on the Backward Design, this study established the mathematical instructional materials, which deal with the concept of 'the sector' taught in middle school, with one large performance task including three small tasks. It is important that in the lesson students be guided to achieve the several learning goals by themselves through reasoning activities. For this purpose, a formal interview was carried out by the subject of three middle school mathematics teachers. As a result, in order to implement the instruction utilizing the performance tasks more efficiently in future, it is required that a large performance task should be selected or developed including the content or problem contexts to be relevant with the real-life challenging situations. In addition, to make students enhance reasoning skills, it is strongly requested that the tasks including the utilization of supplementary materials such as technological devices or manipulatives be dealt with in a lesson.

  • 21세기 지식 기반 사회에 적합한 인재는 자기주도적으로 지적 가치를 창출할 수 있는 자율적이고 창의적인 사고력을 갖춘 사람으로, 수학교육 현장에서는 학생들의 창의사고력이 강조되고 있다. 이러한 창의사고력은 자신의 사고과정을 모니터하고 조절 통제하는 메타인지능력과 밀접한 관련이 있다. 이에 본고에서는 메타인지와 관련된 여러 연구결과들의 통합을 통해 '메타인지능력과 수학적 사고력과의 상관관계, 메타인지 전략을 활용한 교수 학습 방법 및 그 효과, 메타인지 능력 향상을 통한 수학적 사고력 신장 방안'을 고찰하고자 하였다.

Numerical study on the structural performance of corrugated low yield point steel plate shear walls with circular openings

  • Corrugated steel plate shear wall (CSPSW) as an innovative lateral load resisting system provides various advantages in comparison with the flat steel plate shear wall, including remarkable in-plane and out-of-plane stiffnesses and stability, greater elastic shear buckling stress, increasing the amount of cumulative dissipated energy and maintaining efficiency even in large story drifts. Employment of low yield point (LYP) steel web plate in steel shear walls can dramatically improve their structural performance and prevent early stage instability of the panels. This paper presents a comprehensive structural performance assessment of corrugated low yield point steel plate shear walls having circular openings located in different positions. Accordingly, following experimental verification of CSPSW finite element models, several trapezoidally horizontal CSPSW (H-CSPSW) models having LYP steel web plates as well as circular openings (for ducts) perforated in various locations have been developed to explore their hysteresis behavior, cumulative dissipated energy, lateral stiffness, and ultimate strength under cyclic loading. Obtained results reveal that the rehabilitation of damaged steel shear walls using corrugated LYP steel web plate can enhance their structural performance. Furthermore, choosing a suitable location for the circular opening regarding the design purpose paves the way for the achievement of the shear wall's optimal performance.

수학과 좋은 수업 사례에 대한 질적 분석 (A Qualitative Analysis on the Characteristics of "Best Practice" in Mathematics)

  • 이 연구는 수학과 좋은 수업에 대한 사례 관찰과 분석을 통해서 수학과 교사들의 좋은 수업의 특징을 알아보고, 수학과 교육의 내실화 방안을 모색해 보는데 그 목적이 있다. 선정된 6명 교사들의 수업 사례에서 '좋은 수업'이란 교육과정 및 교과서를 재구성한 수업, 실생활 상황을 도입한 수업, ICT를 활용한 수업, 메타인지 학습 전략을 도입한 수업, 동기 유발이 가능한 수학 수업, 수행평가를 도입한 수업, 수준별 소집단 협력 수업 등을 들 수 있다. 그리고 좋은 수업을 운영하고 있는 교사들은 적어도 2개 이상의 특징을 나타내고 있었다. 연구에 참여한 6명의 교사들은 여러 가지 현장의 어려움에도 불구하고, 이를 극복하고 학생들의 학습 수준을 이해하고 학생들이 친숙하게 접할 수 있는 소재에서 출발하여 학생들과 같이 하는 수업을 위해 노력하고 있었다. 6명 교사들의 좋은 수업은 학생들의 학습을 촉진시키고 학생들의 학습 능력을 증진시키기 위한 교사로서의 순수한 열정과 노력의 결과였다. 본 연구에서 제시된 좋은 수업의 특징은 실질적인 수학과 내실화를 꾀할 수 있는 구체적인 방안이라고 할 수 있다. 즉 학교 교육의 내실화는 수업의 내실화가 전제되어야 한다. 최근의 수학교육 동향에 비추어 좋은 수업을 운영하고 있는 교사의 수업을 계속적으로 발굴하고, 이들 수업에서 발견되는 수업의 특징을 새로운 학교 수학 수업의 기준점으로 삼아, 수학교육의 내실화를 위한 현실적인 실천이 이루어지도록 해야 한다.
