POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS FOR NUCLEAR ENERGY BESIDES ELECTRICITY GENERATION: A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

  • Energy supply is increasingly showing up as a major issue for electricity supply, transportation, settlement, and process heat industrial supply including hydrogen production. Nuclear power is part of the solution. For electricity supply, as exemplified in Finland and France, the EPR brings an immediate answer; HTR could bring another solution in some specific cases. For other supply, mostly heat, the HTR brings a solution inaccessible to conventional nuclear power plants for very high or even high temperature. As fossil fuels costs increase and efforts to avoid generation of Greenhouse gases are implemented, a market for nuclear generated process heat will be developed. Following active developments in the 80's, HTR have been put on the back burner up to 5 years ago. Light water reactors are widely dominating the nuclear production field today. However, interest in the HTR technology was renewed in the past few years. Several commercial projects are actively promoted, most of them aiming at electricity production. ANTARES is today AREVA's response to the cogeneration market. It distinguishes itself from other concepts with its indirect cycle design powering a combined cycle power plant. Several reasons support this design choice, one of the most important of which is the design flexibility to adapt readily to combined heat and power applications. From the start, AREVA made the choice of such flexibility with the belief that the HTR market is not so much in competition with LWR in the sole electricity market but in the specific added value market of cogeneration and process heat. In view of the volatility of the costs of fossil fuels, AREVA's choice brings to the large industrial heat applications the fuel cost predictability of nuclear fuel with the efficiency of a high temperature heat source tree of Greenhouse gases emissions. The ANTARES module produces 600 MWth which can be split into the required process heat, the remaining power drives an adapted prorated electric plant. Depending on the process heat temperature and power needs, up to 80% of the nuclear heat is converted into useful power. An important feature of the design is the standardization of the heat source, as independent as possible of the process heat application. This should expedite licensing. The essential conditions for success include: ${\bullet}$ Timely adapted licensing process and regulations, codes and standards for such application and design ${\bullet}$ An industry oriented R&D program to meet the technological challenges making the best use of the international collaboration.   • 최근까지 국내 유통산업 성장의 주도적인 역할을 담당해 온 대형할인마트 시장이 점차 업체들간의 치열한 출점경쟁에 따른 내수시장의 포화상태 및 수명주기단축 등 성장의 한계에 다다르게 되었다. 이러한 국내시장의 한계에 따라 대형할인마트들은 생존과 성장을 위해 해외 신규매장 진출, 혹은 해외 유통체인 인수, 그리고 단순 글로벌 출점뿐만 아니라 글로벌 소싱전략 등을 통한 다양한 해외시장 진출전략과 마케팅 전략을 시도하고 있는 상황이다. 기존에는 유통선진국의 글로벌 기업들이 상대적으로 후진국인 아시아지역 국가들에 선도적인 지위를 차지하며 진출을 해왔지만 1980년대 후반 이후 아시아 경제가 급성장하게 되면서 일본과 같은 동아시아 유통기업들의 아시아시장 진출이 시도되기 시작하였다. 중국을 필두로 해서 경제발전 속도에 비해 유통서비스산업 등이 상대적으로 선진화되지 못한 아시아시장은 서구선진국 글로벌 유통기업뿐만 아니라 일본, 한국 등 동아시아 국가들이 내수시장의 한계를 극복하기 위한 탈출구로써 활발하게 진출이 행해지고 있는 시장이다. 이미 많은 유통기업들이 중국 등 아시아시장 진출과정에서 다양한 이유로 인해 성공과 실패를 경험하였다. 유통산업, 특히 대형할인마트의 아시아시장 진출에 있어서 상대적으로 후발국가라고 할 수 있는 우리나라의 경우, 해외진출의 원인과 과정이 우리와 유사한 일본 대형할인마트의 해외진출 사례와 전략을 살펴보고 이를 통해 우리나라 대형할인마트의 성공적인 해외 진출을 위한 전략적 시사점을 찾아보고자 하였다.

서울시 아파트시장의 군집행동 분석 (Herding Behavior of the Seoul Apartment Market)

  • 본 연구는 시장참여자의 행태 중 하나인 군집행동의 발생 여부와 정도를 주택시장을 중심으로 분석하였다. 분석방법으로 최근 군집행동 분석에 가장 많이 활용되는 CSAD모형에 실거래가격을 적용하였다. 분석내용은 권역별, 경과년수별, 규모별, 시장조건별로 세분하여 지역성, 내부요인, 외부 요인에 대한 분석을 하고자 하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 서울시 전체에서는 군집행동이 발생하지 않았다. 권역별로는 도심권, 동남권, 서북권에서 군집행동이 발생하여 선행연구(Ngene et al., 2017)와 동일한 결과를 보였다. 둘째, 경과년수별 분석에서는 노후주택에서 군집행동이 포착되었으며, 규모별로는 $60m^2$이하의 소규모와 $85m^2$이상 $102m^2$미만의 국민주택규모에서 군집행동이 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 글로벌 금융위기하에서는 모든 권역에서 군집행동이 발생하지 않았으며, 시장 상황이 호황기일 경우 서북권에서 군집행동이 발생하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 손실공포 확대에 따라 불황기에서 군집행동이 집중적으로 발생하는 주식시장과 차이를 보이는 결과이다. 본 연구는 시장참여자의 행태를 행동경제학적 측면에서 분석하여 주택시장 이상현상에 대한 이해도를 높이고 시장분석에 시장참여자의 행동이라는 심리요인을 제시하였다는 점에서 의미가 있을 것이다.

  • Because LRT project is large infrastructure projects investing enormous budget and required continuous maintenance after construction, it is the global trend to perform business in terms of life-cycle from the initial construction, operation to disposal. It is very important LRT to manage interfaces efficiently and to integrate vehicle, civil, track, electricity, communications, signals, operations, facilities organically. Global companies of the railway developed countries including Europe are getting orders a large rail project and preempting the world market based on engineering technology. But, domestic LRT systems engineering is the subcontracting level to the lack of practical skills and experience. Thus, technology securement is very urgent for the independence of systems engineering technology and overseas advance based turnkey. In this paper, we are going to study applicable systems engineering technology focusing on LRT system based on international standard ISO/IEC 15288.

  • For the development of a gas turbine engine, repetitive calculation process to determine design point and off-design performance based on basic design requirements resulted from the market survey is necessary Due attention then, must be given that design process must be carried out within the mechanical limits satisfying conservation laws of mass, work as well as speed equilibrium between the components for maximum performance. It is the purpose of the present study to deal with technical particulars during design point and off-design process of gas turbine engine performance analysis for simple cycle as well as combined cycle.

  • This paper discusses an economic study analysis of captive power plant as a commercial plant in the cost based pool market. In this paper I assumed the conversion of a captive power plant owned by factories to a commercial plant and investigated the changes in profitability associated with this. I set the total electricity expense of a captive purpose plant as state A and the costs associated with converting to a commercial purpose plant as state B. Each state subdivided by case which is classified its plant variable cost, type of generation (combined cycle, single cycle) and type of power contract received. After set model for each case, different economic benefits by each case can be calculated.

  • The high speed rolling stock system considerably belongs to a special industry which requires large-scale investment cost but the recovery term is long. Therefore, to guarantee risk and possibility of technological success in initial investment, tools concerned with various expecting methods like life cycle costs analysis and credibility management are used. In view of this characteristics, the cases on cost structure for HSR RS previously invested should be studied and the method to appropriately allocate the life cycle of each sub-system like arrangement unit, electric device, braking device, door and car body should be realized. Moreover, the environmental aspects of main manufacturer and parts supplier can be checked. This study, through the case study for HSR cost structure in introduction and operational stage of KTX, aims to seek for the method to adapt to environmental changes like EU railway industry of which object is to acquire global market competitiveness by integrating manufacturing and operation of RS and the regulation and operation of IRIS which is performed in Europe.

마이크로 적층기술을 이용한 열교환기 생산모델 개발과 경제성 평가 (Development of Heat Exchanger Production Model Based on the Microlamination Technology and Estimation of its Economic Efficiency)

  • The development of a heat exchanger production model based on the microlamination technology and it's economic efficiency is addressed. A microchannel production model is proposed for the high-volume production. The microlamination system is made up of lamina patterning, laminae sorting and laminae bonding. A cost estimation model is developed based on the hewn cycle time and capital equipment costs. An economic efficiency analysis is performed to determine the cost drivers under the different market and product scenarios. The result of the economic efficiency analysis indicated that the device size and the production rate have a great effect on the overall manufacturing cost of microlamination devices. And it can be concluded that the microlamination should focus on bonding larger laminae and reducing both cycle time and warpage.

  • Shader architecture is one of the fastest growing fields in the ever advancing 3D graphics, and massive amounts of Ideas and technologies are being introduced to the market continuously. In this paper, we present a flexible cycle-accurate simulation environment to accelerate and alleviate the process of developing and verifying these ideas and technologies. Combination of 3D graphics API and hardware simulator allows OpenGL applications to be emulated off-the-shelf for a given shader micro-architecture. Easily modified parameters allow the simulation environment to be tailored to specific demands or requirements.

사이클 기반 논리시뮬레이션 가속화 기법 연구 (Acceleration Techniques for Cycle-Based Login Simulation)

  • With increasing complexity of digital logic circuits, fast and accurate verification of functional behaviour becomes most critical bottleneck in meeting time-to-market requirement. This paper presents several techniques for accelerating a cycle-based logic simulation. The acceleration techniques include parallel pattern logic evaluation, circuit size reduction, and the partition of feedback loops in sequential circuits. Among all, the circuit size reduction plays a critical role in maximizing logic simulation speedup by reducing 50% of entire circuit nodes on the average. These techniques are incorporated into a levelized table-driven logic simulation system rather than a compiled-code simulation algorithm. Finally, experimental results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed acceleration techniques. Experimental results show more than 27 times performance improvement over single pattern levelized logic simulation.
