Phytophthora root and stem rot (PRR), caused by Phytophthora sojae, can occur at any growth stage under poorly drained and humid conditions. The expansion of soybean cultivation in South Korean paddy fields has increased the frequency of PRR outbreaks. This study aimed to identify four P. sojae isolates newly collected from domestic fields and evaluate race-specific resistance using the hypocotyl inoculation technique. The four isolates exhibited various pathotypes, with GJ3053 exhibiting the highest virulence complexity. Two isolates, GJ3053 and AD3617, were screened from 205 soybeans, and 182 and 190 genotypes (88.8 and 92.7%, respectively) were susceptible to each isolate. Among these accessions, five genotypes resistant to both isolates were selected. These promising genotypes are candidates for the development of resistant soybean cultivars that can effectively control PRR through gene stacking.

In this study, we considered the method evaluation the flexibility of joint area including member with circular section. We regarded the flexibility of joint area as translational and rotational springs for the purpose of expressing local deformation. We verified this method by the use of normal mode analysis. We also calculated this joint area occurring in penetration so as to apply this method to other cases. Compare with the shell element model. we can the considerably approximate values.

This paper aims to investigated the reasonable objectiveness of trading areas on the Korea Ship Safety Act and to make a regulated proposal of trading areas. To achieve the above mentioned object, we analyzed the existing rules and other related circumstances of maritime fields. On the basis of this viewpoint, this paper was focused on three topics of concern : (1) the relationship between the ship Safety Act and other Maritime Acts. (2) the legislative examples of foreign countries, (3) the reasonable revised reasons of trading areas. In this paper, we proposed following four matters such as (1) the modification of ship's length and speed which are the designative basis of trading areas, (2) the extension of the smooth sea area to limit of territorial seas (3) the extension of the near-coastal area to the coasts of the P.R.C., Japan, the U.S.S.R and the R.O.C ., and rename of its area into the near & greater coastal area, (4) the annulment of greater-coastal area.

This study analyzes the problems of environmental laws, development planning laws, Metropolitan Area Development Planning (MADP), and the level of environmental pollution at Asan-bay metropolitan area, where MADP will be realized in the near future. In order to prevent environmental pollution by the implementation of MADP, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act and EIA systems in Korea should be revised so as to reflect the followings. First, the impact of national landuse planning changes on the environment should be considered at the beginning of the EIA procedures. Second, the overlapping and greater impact of many projects upon surrounding metropolitan areas should be simultaneously evaluated, though each project is the subject of EIA, and the environmental pollution protection and abatement alternatives must be made in accordance with the above impact of the projects. Thirdly, total effluent regulation of water pollution, air pollution and solid wastes should be enforced based on the self-purification of the metropolitan area environment.

Seismic reflection method is applied to detect shallow location of limestone in Chechon area. The data using hammer source is compared with that of weight drop. Small size hammer and weight-drop are used as energy source and 100Hz geophones are used for data aquisition. Data processing is conducted utilizing the available processing technique of "Geobit", which is seismic data processing software developed by KIGAM. The result of above data processing, the velocity of topsoil layer is 1,250m/sec. The velocity of this area is higher than other area because loading trucks pass this area and make this layer compact. And in limestone area, hammer is proposed to energy source instead of weight drop because the energy propagates the layer very well.

Histogram is very sensitive in lighting because of feature between color space. When it has intensity of moved light, It may be possibility that similarity drop down, So In this paper, introduce new image retrieval method that calls HAC (Histogram Area Calculation). This method divides area of Histogram by a few area and calculate areas. The proposed method is to calculate area of Histogram and compare similarity based on feature that histogram has presently. Performance of our proposed method was verified more excellent than other Conventional method and Merged Color Histogram.

The LPC cepstrum coefficients, which are an acoustic features of speech signal, have been widely used as the feature parameter for various speech recognition systems and showed good performance. The vocal tract area function is a kind of articulatory feature, which is related with the physiological mechanism of speech production. This paper proposes the vocal tract area function as an alternative feature parameter for speech recognition. The linear predictive analysis using Burg algorithm and the vector quantization are performed. Then, recognition experiments for 5 Korean vowels and 10 digits are executed using the conventional LPC cepstrum coefficients and the vocal tract area function. The recognitions using the area function showed the slightly better results than those using the conventional LPC cepstrum coefficients.

Catalytic slurry reactors, in which a solid maintained in the rom of fine particles suspended in a liquid, are frequently used in chemical and biochemical and industries. In these processes the particle loading is normally low so that the effects of particles on the liquid-film mass transfer coefacent and the gas-liquid interface area are assumed to be negligible. But it is known from the works, amongst others, that the finely powdered activated carbon can increase the gas-liquid mass transfer significantly in surface-aerated reactors. The stirred cell (13.2cm inside diameter) contained four baffles and at the stirring speeds range of 80 ∼ 300ppm, the gas-liquid interfacial area could be considered as that of the cross section of the vessel (that is, 130.1cm2). When the stirrer speeds were increased, the effective interfacial area was slightly higher than the geometric area and was obtained experimentally from the Danckwerts plots. This study was conduced to examine the monthly and seasonal variation of $SO_2$, TSP, $O_3$ concentration in Dongsamdong, Pusan coastal area. And the characteristics of air pollution of this area was compared to Kwangbokdong in Pusan and Taehadong in Ullungdo. Monthly mean concentration of $SO_2$ and TSP showed lower than Kwangbokdong, $O_3$ was higher than Kwangbokdong. In case of $SO_2$, seasonal variation of Dongsamdong was remarkabler thn Kwangbokdong and the concentration difference of early morning and daytime was higher than Kwangbokdong. Taehadong showed very lower concentration as background area. In case of TSP, Dongsamdong was lower concentration and smaller diurnal change than Kwangbokdong, Taehadong showed very lower concentration as backgound area. In case of $O_3$, Dongsamdong was 10ppb higher than Kwangbokdong at daytime maximum concentration, diurnal change of concentration was higher, too. In case of frequency distribution of concentration, $SO_2$, and TSP at Dongsamdong showed higher frequency in low concentration class and $O_3$ showed in high concentration class as compared with Kwangbokdong.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between consumer spatial behavior and consumer characteristics based on trade area selection criteria 469 female consumers who lived in the two new towns near Seoul, Bundang and Ilsan, participated in the study by completing questionnaires. Data were analyzed by using cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, chi-square analysis, etc. The findings of the empirical research were as follows: 1. Five groups were identified by cluster analysis based on trade area selection criteria of clothing price-oriented group, time convenience-oriented group, shopping convenience-oriented group, variety/entertainment-oriented group, and passive shopping group. 2. Each group differed in spatial behavior such as clothing shopping area, the visiting frequency, and spatial movement type. 3. Each group showed differences in fashion involvement and demographic characteristics(age, marital status, education, occupation and social status).
