  • As the need for quantitative qualities of IT investment performance heightens, numerous research organizations are developing various measurement methods for the quantitative evaluation and its currency value conversion. Corporations utilizing these methods to evaluate IT investment performance are gradually increasing. However, working-level staff in the corporations that have introduced the quantitative evaluation can not assure if the evaluation sufficiently reflects the actual effect provided by IT since the results arising from the conversion of currency value can't be visibly confirmed. This study tries to identify whether the quantitative evaluation of IT investment performance can be explained in terms of the level of consumer satisfaction proven by the qualitative evaluation by analyzing the level of consumer satisfaction and quantitative evaluation of a case company and identifying the correlation between them. As the result of the case study, the following points have been concluded. Firstly, the currency value of IT effect correlates with the level of consumer satisfaction. Secondly, in order to come up with a rational currency value of IT effect, developing an indicator as well as managing data on currency conversion that will enable the internal system's efficiency to become more quantitative is essential. Thirdly, IT ROI is not appropriate to compare the performance between systems and is utilized as a measurement standard for each system's performance and efficiency. Lastly, quantitative evaluation is still inadequate in the evaluation of the system's strategic side, and consumer satisfaction can be utilized as a supplementary method.

  • Understanding of the length of time required to realize the return on the investment of informatization is important for policy makers and decision makers of information system adoption. Previous researchers, however, assessed this issue with the performance measurement approach that was primarily based on static point of view. However, the static analysis on the outcome of the informatization investment is limited in measuring the priori and ex ante effects of the informatization implementation on temporal basis. This study present a methodology to capture the outcome of the informatization investment on dynamic basis. This assessment was performed based on an e-government project in Korea, called "Industry Human Resource Project." Particularly, the study addressed how long it takes to obtain the benefit of WorkNet System, which was part of this Korean e-government project. We proposed various approaches to illustrate the importance and temporal effect of the WorkNet System by analyzing DB data, time reduction of WorkNet business processes and return of investment of IT.

  • This study endeavors to enrich investment prospects in cryptocurrency by establishing a rationale for investment decisions. The primary objective involves evaluating the predictability of four prominent cryptocurrencies - Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and EOS - and scrutinizing the efficacy of trading strategies developed based on the prediction model. To identify the most effective prediction model for each cryptocurrency annually, we employed three methodologies - AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and Prophet - representing traditional statistics and artificial intelligence. These methods were applied across diverse periods and time intervals. The result suggested that Prophet trained on the previous 28 days' price history at 15-minute intervals generally yielded the highest performance. The results were validated through a random selection of 100 days (20 target dates per year) spanning from January 1st, 2018, to December 31st, 2022. The trading strategies were formulated based on the optimal-performing prediction model, grounded in the simple principle of assigning greater weight to more predictable assets. When the forecasting model indicates an upward trend, it is recommended to acquire the cryptocurrency with the investment amount determined by its performance. Experimental results consistently demonstrated that the proposed trading strategy yields higher returns compared to an equal portfolio employing a buy-and-hold strategy. The cryptocurrency trading model introduced in this paper carries two significant implications. Firstly, it facilitates the evolution of cryptocurrencies from speculative assets to investment instruments. Secondly, it plays a crucial role in advancing deep learning-based investment strategies by providing sound evidence for portfolio allocation. This addresses the black box issue, a notable weakness in deep learning, offering increased transparency to the model.

  • An index fund is a collective investment scheme that aims to replicate the movements of an index of a specific financial market regardless of market conditions. An index fund is a popular investment alternative because it is much cheaper to run than an active fund and it performs better than actively managed funds. This paper illustrates the usefulness of wavelet analysis in constructing an index fund. The wavelet analysis can decompose the time series data in frequency domain as well as in time domain. The major findings of this paper are as follows. First, the beta coefficient that represents the systematic risk has the scale dependent property. This result can provide important information to the investors with various investment time frequency. Investors can use the betas corresponding to their investment frequencies among the various scale betas estimated by wavelet analysis. Second, we can find the usefulness of wavelet analysis in constructing index fund because the wavelet technique gives less tracking error(difference between the index performance and the index fund performance) than the traditional constructing techniques. The result of this study implies that the wavelet techniques can be an important analytic method to the other financial markets such as option market, futures market, bond markets and currency market.

  • ESG Investment is emerging as a trend and common sense in the financial market. ESG Investment is an investment method that simultaneously pursue social sustainability and investment returns from a long-term perspective by reflecting non-financial factors such as environment, society and governance in addition to corporate financial performance in investment decisions. This study checked how the characteristics of ESG investment have been changed after Covid-19. Afterwards, it was confirmed that Covid-19 actually acted as a negative factor in the securities market by applying VAR model. At the same time, it was demonstrated that ESG indices of the US and Korea outperformed their benchmark in terms of return and risk during the pandemic regime. The result of this study hints that the importance of ESG investment will be unchanged after Covid-19. At the same time, it suggests that managers should avoid passive ESG management and engage in strategic ESG management based on knowledge management.

  • Over the past three decades, the impact of information technology (IT) investments on firm performance has been the subject of active research. Despite increasing importance of research into the productivity of IT in developing countries, almost all findings on IT productivity have been based on data collected in developed countries. This study investigates the effects of IT investment on firms' financial performance in the insurance industry of Korea, which is OECD member and can be classified as a developed country in IT perspective, and in the electronics industry of China, which is a developing country, and compare them. The findings show that IT investment has a positive and significant impact on firm efficiency in both Korea and China, but a weakly positive impact on firm growth in only Korea. Moreover, the size of the impact on efficiency (ROA) in China is significantly larger than that in Korea.

  • Considering time-lag in the performance evaluation of information system (IS) investment is important because its effect reveals after certain period of time passed. Particularly it is more in the systems of e-government informatization projects which the amount of investment and the scale of business are huge. Many methods to solve this issue have been proposed such as system dynamics methods, simulations, structural equations etc. However, it is still difficult and unsolved problem because collecting practical data for time-lag analysis is very hard. In this paper, we analyze IS time-lag effect through factor analysis using the accumulated practical operational DB data. For the performance evaluation of the G4C system, the representative e-government web portal, we selected eleven factors reflecting time passing in G4C DB data. With these factors this paper conduct time-lag analysis in four view points. First, we conducted 'Stabilizing of G4C system' and got a result that IS is needed about three years for the stabilization. Second, we conducted 'Utilization of G4C system' and got a result that the utilization reaches appropriate level after in three years later after the introduction of G4C system. Third, we conducted 'Cost reduction effect' and got a result that cost reduction is stable in the third year after the introduction of G4C system. Lastly, we conducted 'System maturity effect' and got a result that the system reaches to the quality level that users expect after third to fourth years. According to the results of this research, we found that performance of IS improv continuously not immediately, and it needs three or four years of time-lag.
