  • Operating and decommissioning nuclear power plants generates radioactive waste. This radioactive waste can be categorized into several different levels, for example, low, intermediate, and high, according to the regulations. Currently, low and intermediate-level waste are stored in conventional 200-liter drums to be disposed. However, in Korea, the disposal of intermediate-level radioactive waste is virtually impossible as there are no available facilities. Furthermore, large-sized intermediate-level radioactive waste, such as reactor internals from decommissioning, need to be segmented into smaller sizes so they can be adequately stored in the conventional drums. This segmentation process requires additional costs and also produces secondary waste. Therefore, this paper suggests repurposing the no-longer-used spent nuclear fuel casks. The casks are larger in size than the conventional drums, thus requiring less segmentation of waste. Furthermore, the safety requirements of the spent nuclear fuel casks are severer than those of the drums. Hence, repurposed spent nuclear fuel casks could better address potential risks such as dropping, submerging, or a fire. In addition, the spent nuclear fuel casks need to be disposed in compliance with the regulations for low level radioactive waste. This cost may be avoided by repurposing the casks.

  • In this paper weak and strong convergence theorems of modified Noor iterations to fixed points for asymptotically nonexpansive mappings in the intermediate sense in Banach spaces are established. In one theorem where we establish strong convergence we assume an additional property of the operator whereas in another theorem where we establish weak convergence assume an additional property of the space.

  • The purpose of this study was to describe the heterogeneity effects on Intermediate/Final microstructure in isothermal liquid phase sintering. Several kinds of pore shapes were made by the different in the heterogeneity stress level during Intermediate/Final stage. Specimen with 48% green density especially showed that the local regions of a sintered compact were subject to more rapid shrinkage than the surroundings. This densification limiting factors generally inhibited sintering and made the large isolated crack-like pore in heterogeneous microstructures.

  • The azomethine ylide forming photoreaction has been explored by probing the excited state chemistry of several N-trimethylsilylmethyl substituted cyclic and acyclic imides and amide analogs. N-[(Trimethylsilyl)methyl]-N-mesylbenzamide (5) undergoes the excited state C to O silyl migration reaction to produce azomethine ylide intermediate 13. This ylide undergoes electrocyclization to form transient aziridine intermediate 14 which react further by ring opening to generate N-phenacylamine product 10. On the other hand, photolysis of N-[N-mesyl-N-(trimethylsilyl)methyl]aminoethyl-N-mesylbenzamide (8) brings about desilylation resulting in the production of dimer 17.

  • In this paper, intermediate cyan coupler was prepared by the reaction of 2-nitro-4, 6-dichloro-5-methylphenol with Pd(5wt%). The product was identified by using various analytical tools such as melting point, elemental analyzer, IR spectrophotometer and mass spectrometer. The reaction of intermediate cyan coupler with CD-3(color development agent) was shown cyan color.

  • We present two constructions of Toeplitz sequences with an intermediate complexity function by using the generalized Oxtoby sequence. In the first one, we use the blocks from the infinite sequence, which has entropy dimension $\frac{1}{2}$. The second construction provides the Toeplitz sequences which have various entropy dimensions.

  • The investigation deals with of a intermediate process condition hving a bolt-shaped final product where it is required to extend tool-life in forging. In this study, optimization of the design variables is conducted by a genetic algorithm, where the fitness values are evaluated on the basis of FEM analysis model. The approach is applied to the determination of the intermediate process conditions which are optimal with regard to minimization of peak die pressure.

  • Twenty sodium-cooled fast reactors (SFRs) have provided valuable experience in design, licensing, and operation. This paper summarizes the important safety criteria and safety guidelines of intermediate sodium systems, steam generators, decay heat removal systems and associated construction materials and in-service inspection. The safety criteria and guidelines provide a sufficient framework for design and licensing, in particular by new entrants in SFRs.

  • This concerns the summary report of a series of studies on Metastrongylosis hitherto published by the writer. The life cycle of swine lungworm was first elucidated by Hobmaier in 1929. Since then subsequent studies conducted by many workers have revealed that some species of earthworms act as specific intermediate hosts of swine lungworm. The writer observed that three species of earthworms, Helodrilus foetidus, Allolobophora caliginosa and Pheretima, serve as intermediate hosts of swine lungworm in Korea. The present summary consists of the results of survey on the distribution of infectious lungworm larvae and the studies on the developmental growth of lungworm larvae in the intermediate and terminal hosts.
