This paper gives and analytical expression of the average and rms currents of switching devices in volt-age-fed PWM inverters. It is shown that the device currents are represented by a function of the power factor of the load and the normalized output voltage of the inverter. The validity of the derived formulas is confirmed with simulation and experiment, showing that the modulation method has a minor effect on the characteristics of the device current.

A normal mixture model with which dependence between classes is incorporated is proposed in order to detect differentially expressed genes. Gene clustering approaches suffer from the high dimensional column of microarray expression data matrix which leads to the over-fit problem. Various methods are proposed to solve the problem. In this paper, use of simple averaging data within each class is proposed to overcome the various problems due to high dimensionality when the normal mixture model is fitted. Some experiments through simulated data set and real data set show its availability in actuality.

The performance of noncoherent fast frequency-hopped spread spectrum multiple access communication systems with square-law combining over fading channel is presented. The expression for the probalility of error as a performance measure is derived by means of momenting function of the dedecision variables, and the cross-covariance of the fading process the ambiguty function of the transmitted signals.

A new analytic model for small-singnal circuit model of GaAs MESFET's is presented. This model is a charge model which considers the formation of a statioanary Gunn-domain and the transistion region that exists in the depletion region boundary. From this charge model the analytic expression of the equivalent circuit elements is derived, and the voltage dependences of each element are explained. The results of the calcualtion are in good agreement with experimental data.

A kink due to the lasing of the first transverse mode in laser diodes is investigated using rate equations based on the spatial hole burning model. An analytic expression for the kink power is derived and the result agrees well with experimental results. It is also shown that the position of a kink can be identified in the electrical derivative characteristics as well as in light output vs, current characteristics.

An intelligent integrated control system is designed for the active steering and the left/right traction force distribution control of electric vehicles, where input-output linearization is employed. Also, a fuzzy-rule-based cornering force estimator is suggested to avoid using an uncertain highly nonlinear expression, and a neural network compensator is additively utilized for the estimator to correctly find cornering forece. With these techniques, the proposed control system is shown by simulation results to be robust against drastic change of the external environments such as road conditions.

In this paper, we present a closed-form expression of binary sequences of longer period with ideal autocorrelation property in a trace representation, if a given binary sequence with ideal autocorrelation property is described using the trace function. We also enumerate the number of cyclically distinct binary sequences of a longer period with ideal autocorrelation property, which are extended from a given binary sequence with ideal autocorrelation property.

Given the set of minimal paths between two vertices in a network, this paper shows that the system reliability can be obtained by using a Binary Decision Digram. It can be done by transforming a Boolean sum of products into a Binary Decision Diagram and the reliability can be directly derived from it. The resulting reliability expression is compact and requires relatively fewer arithmetic opersations in its evaluation. Several examples are given to show that the method using Binary Decision Diagram is conceptually casy, simple and efficient.
