Analysis of Occurrence Tendency of Rail Force According to Running the Hanvit 200 Train on Transition Curve Track (한국형 틸팅차량 완화곡선 주행시 궤도작용력 발생경향 분석)

  • A trial run of locally-developed tilting train has been in process on Chungbuk line since the test vehicle was first produced. For the system stabilization, interface verification among the systems including track, structure, catenary and signaling system, not to mention the rolling stock, is very crucial. Therefore, in this study, the dynamic rail force of the tilting (Hanvit 200), high-speed (KTX) and general (Mugunghwa) vehicle caused by driving in transition curve track was measured. And, it compared the tilting response with the other by using the measured rail force data in transition curve track, and then evaluated probability the range of load fluctuation for the variable dynamic vertical and lateral wheel load. As a result, a range of rail force by occurred a change of cant from the high-speed and general vehicle which had fixed bogie structure was distributed throughout small deviation. Otherwise, in case of the tilting train which was consisted of the pendulum bogie structure was distributed wide range about large deviation by changed of cant.

  • A 1.8V 2-Gb/s scalable low voltage signaling (SLVS) transmitter (TX) is designed for mobile applications requiring high speed and low power consumption. It consists of 4-lane TX for data transmission, 1-lane TX for a source synchronous clocking, and a 8-phase clock generator. The proposed SLVS TX has the scaling voltage swing from 50 mV to 650 mV and supports a high speed (HS) mode and a low power (LP) mode. An output impedance calibration scheme for the SVLS TX is proposed to improve the signal integrity. The proposed SLVS TX is implemented by using a $0.18-{\mu}m$ 1-poly 6-metal CMOS with a 1.8V supply. The simulated data jitter of the implemented SLVS TX is about 8.04 ps at the data rate of 2-Gbps. The area and power consumption of the 1-lane of the proposed SLVS TX are $422{\times}474{\mu}m^2$ and 5.35 mW/Gb/s, respectively.

Design Optimization of Differential FPCB Transmission Line for Flat Panel Display Applications (평판디스플레이 응용을 위한 차동 FPCB 전송선 설계 최적화)

  • This paper addresses the analysis and the design optimization of differential interconnects for Low-Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) applications. Thanks to the differential transmission and the low voltage swing, LVDS offers high data rates and improved noise immunity with significantly reduced power consumption in data communications, high-resolution display, and flat panel display. We present an improved model and new equations to reduce impedance mismatch and signal degradation in cascaded interconnects using optimization of interconnect design parameters such as trace width, trace height and trace space in differential flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) transmission lines. We have carried out frequency-domain full-wave electromagnetic simulations, time-domain transient simulations, and S-parameter simulations to evaluate the high-frequency characteristics of the differential FPCB interconnects. The 10% change in trace width produced change of approximately 6% and 5.6% in differential impedance for trace thickness of $17.5{\mu}m$ and $35{\mu}m$, respectively. The change in the trace space showed a little change. We believe that the proposed approach is very helpful to optimize high-speed differential FPCB interconnects for LVDS applications.

  • The train control system used in Gyeongbu-line is classified in ATC, IXL and CTC. The ATC data related to speed and space control for trains are transmitted from wayside to onboard by way of UM71 AF track circuits and BSP Loop. The information transferred by track circuits is composed of operation data which directly influence to the train operation and the information transferred by BSP Loop is used in the section which requires the additional data transmission about the particular track-side environment such as tunnel, hot box detector or insulated section. In this paper, for the BA type turning unit of the UM71 AF track circuits which is mainly used in the linking section of existing and high-speed lines from the opening of the Gyeongbu line till the present, we not only analyze the characteristics of BA but also compare and analyze baseline values and the measured values. With this analysis, we will be able to propose how to solve the problems about operation and maintenance such as track circuit malfunctions of the relevant sections.

  • The Drosophila retinal cell is widely used to study cell development and cell signaling processes. In the past decades, conventional chemical fixation had been used to study the structure of retinal cells in Droscphila. Rapid freezing methods are superior to chemical fixation methods due to their fixation speed. Some Drosophila tissues, such as the eyes, should not be freezed due to their surrounding cuticle layer. Therefore, in the case of the Drosophila retina, the benefits of high pressure freezing and freeze substitution (HPF-FS) had not been verified. In this study, a retinal cell from Drosophila melanogaster had been studied by using the HPF-FS method. Compared to chemical fixation, the preservation of the cytoplasm in the HPF-FS sample was improved on the whole. The HPF-FS cell membranes were smoother than that of chemical fixation. In addition, HPF-FS preserved the mitochondria structures very well. These results of the present study suggest that HPF-FS is superior to other fixation methods for the preservation of the retinal cell structure.

A Study on Interference between High Voltage Impulse Track Circuit(HVITC) and AF Track Circuit (고전압임펄스궤도회로(HVITC)와 AF 궤도회로간의 간섭에 대한 연구)

  • Two types of track circuits are used in high speed railway car depots: one is High Voltage Impulse Track Circuit(HVITC); the other is AF track circuit. HVITC detects train occupation of blocks and broken rail; the AF track circuit is used for train onboard control system pretesting before departure. This testing is used to transmit train control information through the AF track circuit. The two systems are switched in turns for testing. We propose a system in which the AF track circuit is replaced by a loop cable that is installed on the inside rail; as such, engineers do not need to switch the systems. In cases in which the two systems run simultaneously, mutual interference may occur. In this paper, we identified this mutual interference by modeling of the two circuits.

In the area of wayside structure, the stability of track structure and train run shall be evaluated through the review of impact by increased speed by developed train on track structure. The study thus was intended to evaluate the impact on track while a tilting train is running the curve section, which is vulnerable to accelerated train speed. The analysis of tilting train test running the part of Chungbuk line and Honam line was conducted to identify the impact on existing track performance by tilting train. To identify the movement behavior of each part of track while tilting train, high speed train and traditional train (Mugunghwa and freight train) were running the existing line, wheel load, lateral wheel load, rail bending stress, vertical and lateral displacement of rail and vertical displacement of sleeper were compared and analyzed so as to evaluate the expected impact by tilting train for improving the train speed.

  • A art from the typical data services based on 1:1 data communications, various new services based on 1:N communications have recently appeared. These services are becoming to require advanced 1:N communication schemes which can transfer the same data to many receivers efficiently and in high-performance. Especially, a Push-To-Talk (PTT) service, which is an important service in public safety communication system, requires a service server to disseminate the same voice media data to multiple receivers in a group in real-time and low latency. In this paper, we propose an efficient scheme to disseminate the same data to multiple receivers in low latency. In addition, we provide an analysis which gives a guide the performance of the 1:N communications in practical wired/wireless system environments in the perspective of the PTT service index.

  • Reliable high-speed data communications over insufficient channel bandwidth is one of the major challenges of harsh wireless environments that push the achievable spectral efficiency far below its theoretical limits. A Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) scheme is a userful modulation technique for achieving high data rate transmission without increasing the bandwidth of wireless communication systems. The exact general bit error rate (BER) expression of arbitrary rectangular quadrature amplitude modulation has not yet been derived. In this paper, a generalized closed-form expression for the BER performance of rectangular QAM with Gray code bit mapping is derived and analyzed in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. First we analyze the BER performance of an I-ary PAM scheme. Regular patterns in the k-th bit error probability are observed while developing the EBR expression. From these patterns we provide the exact and general closed-from EBR expression of an I-ary PAM. Then we present a general closed-from expression for BER of an arbitrary IXJ rectangular QAM by considering that this signaling format consists of two PAM scheme, i.e., I-ary and J-ary PAM. A simple approximate BER expression for rectangular QAM is given as well.

  • This paper related with the performance improvement of adaptive equalizer that is a based on the tricepstrum eqalization algorithm by using the received signal. Adaptive equalizer used for the improvement of communication performance, like as high speed, maintain of synchronization, BER, at the receive side in the environment of communication channel of the presence of the aditive noise, phase distortion and frequency selective fading, mainly. It's characteristics are nearly same as the inverse characterstics of the communication channel. In this paper, the TEA algorithm using the HOS and the 16-QAM which is 2-dimensional signaling method for being considered signal was used. For the precoding of 16-QAM singnal in the assignment of the signal costellation, Gray code was used, and the improvement of performance was gained by computer simulation in the residual intersymbol interence and mean squared error which is representive measurement of adaptive equalizer.
