  • In this note, we consider the Riemann problem for a two-dimensional nonstrictly hyperbolic system of conservation laws. Without the restriction that each jump of the initial data projects one planar elementary wave, six topologically distinct solutions are constructed by applying the generalized characteristic analysis method, in which the delta shock waves and the vacuum states appear. Moreover we demonstrate that the nature of our solutions is identical with that of solutions to the corresponding one-dimensional Cauchy problem, which provides a verification that our construction produces the correct global solutions.

  • In this paper, we consider three-component reaction-diffusion system. With an integral condition and a global coupling, this system gives us an interesting free boundary problem. We shall examine the occurrence of a Hopf bifurcation and the stability of solutions as the global coupling constant varies. The main result is that a Hopf bifurcation occurs for global coupling and this motion is transferred to the stable motion for strong global coupling.

  • We consider a bistable attraction-attraction chemotaxis system with global coupling term. The study in this paper asserts that conditions for chemotactic coefficients for attraction and attraction and the global coupling constant to show existence of stationary solutions and Hopf bifurcation in the interfacial problem as the bifurcation parameters vary are obtained analytically.

  • In this paper, we study well-posed problems and variational inequalities in locally convex Hausdorff topological vector spaces. The necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of solutions of variational inequality problems and quasi variational inequalities even when the underlying set K is not convex. In certain cases, solutions obtained are not unique. Moreover, counter examples are also presented for the authenticity of the main results.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary school students' awareness about socio-scientific issues and solutions about environmental topics by using their drawings. For this study, 489 students were participated in 3 provincial regions, Incheon, Dangjin and Pohang in Korea. The students participated in a drawing activity to express their ideas of the socio-scientific issues and solutions related to 'environmental problems.' The analysis of the data include that the students displayed most awareness towards air pollution, water pollution and trash problems. However, the global environmental problems such as global warming and climate change were perceived very low. The interesting thing was about 8% of the students, who drew global environmental problems, tried to explain their drawings using scientific knowledge. But they revealed misconceptions as well. For instance, they were not good at connecting their science knowledge with environmental problems. About 80% of the students drew the pictures, showing solutions in personal context. They mainly drew 3 kinds of solutions: 'Reduce trash', 'Preserve ecosystem' and 'Saving of resources & energy'. Most students suggested to administrate the action plans. About 19% of the students drew 'campaign to save the forest' or 'develop alternative energy' in social context. And only 1 student drew UN conference to solve the environmental problems in national context.

  • We consider the Cauchy problem for a Keller-Segel-fluid model with degenerate diffusion for cell density, which is mathematically formulated as a porus medium type of Keller-Segel equations coupled to viscous incompressible fluid equations. We establish the global-in-time existence of weak solutions and bounded weak solutions depending on some conditions of parameters such as chemotactic sensitivity and consumption rate of oxygen for certain range of diffusive exponents of cell density in two and three dimensions.

  • In this paper, we study the properties of positive solutions for the reaction-diffusion equation $u_t$ = $\Delta_u+{\int}_\Omega u^pdx-ku^q$ in $\Omega\times(0,T)$ with nonlocal nonlinear boundary condition u (x, t) = ${\int}_{\Omega}f(x,y)u^l(y,t)dy$ $\partial\Omega\times(0,T)$ and nonnegative initial data $u_0$ (x), where p, q, k, l > 0. Some conditions for the existence and nonexistence of global positive solutions are given.

  • In this paper we study the first initial boundary value problem for the 3D Navier-Stokes-Voigt equations with infinite delay. First, we prove the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to the problem by combining the Galerkin method and the energy method. Then we prove the existence of a compact global attractor for the continuous semigroup associated to the problem. Finally, we study the existence and exponential stability of stationary solutions.

  • In this paper we deal with the difference equation $$y_{n+1}=\frac{ay_{n-1}}{by_ny_{n-1}+cy_{n-1}y_{n-2}+d}$$, $$n{\in}\mathbb{N}_0$$, where the coefficients a, b, c, d are positive real numbers and the initial conditions $y_{-2}$, $y_{-1}$, $y_0$ are nonnegative real numbers. Here, we investigate global asymptotic stability, periodicity, boundedness and oscillation of positive solutions of the above equation.

  • In this paper we consider a class of nonlinear nonlocal parabolic equations involving p-Laplacian operator where the nonlocal quantity is present in the diffusion coefficient which depends on $L^p$-norm of the gradient and the nonlinear term is of polynomial type. We first prove the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions by combining the compactness method and the monotonicity method. Then we study the existence of global attractors in various spaces for the continuous semigroup generated by the problem. Finally, we investigate the existence and exponential stability of weak stationary solutions to the problem.
