  • We measured potential waveform of load, displacement, micro electric signal generated by rock and mortar fracture using PXI A/D Converter. The rock type used for measurement was used granite, limestone and sandstone, and mortar specimen. we made measuring equipment of physical properties to confirm basic information of physical properties, measured physical properties of rock engineering, electric resistivity and seismic velocity. Potential waveform system was built using PXI A/D Converter and measured potential waveform of load, displacement, micro-electric signal generated using this during uniaxial compressive test by the specimen finished such test of physical properties. Using the saturated rock and mortar specimen, micro electric signal increased, and It didn't increase a signal in dried rock and mortar specimen according as load and strain rate increases. But signal also increased in saturated or dried specimen in case of sandstone. It was possible to check the close correlation relationship the signal and fracture behavior by a compressive load as the signal of fracture position was increased bigger than the other position. It was also possible to check the correlation relationship between physical properties and micro geo-electric signal.

  • The advent of towed geo-electrical array surveying on water and land has resulted in datasets of magnitude approaching that of airborne electromagnetic surveying and most suited to 1D inversion. Robustness and complete automation is essential if processing and reliable interpretation of such data is to be viable. Sharp boundaries such as river beds and the top of saline aquifers must be resolved so use of smoothness constraints must be minimised. Suitable inversion algorithms must intelligently handle low signal-to-noise ratio data if conductive basement, that attenuates signal, is not to be misrepresented. A noise-level aware inversion algorithm that operates with one elastic thickness layer per electrode configuration has been coded. The noise-level aware inversion identifies if conductive basement has attenuated signal levels so that they are below noise level, and models conductive basement where appropriate. Layers in the initial models are distributed to span the effective depths of each of the geo-electric array quadrupoles. The algorithm works optimally on data collected using geo-electric arrays with an approximately exponential distribution of quadrupole effective depths. Inversion of data from arrays with linear electrodes, used to reduce contact resistance, and capacitive-line antennae is plausible. This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the algorithm using theoretical examples and an example from a salt interception scheme on the Murray River, Australia.

  • Many electric poles in the softground have been collapsed due to external load. In this study, several tests were performed with variation of numbers and depths of anchor blocks to find effects of anchor blocks on stability of concrete electric poles through earth pressure and displacement analysis. 1.50m depth of anchor block seems appropriate among three kinds of depths. The 2.25m depth of anchor block makes larger displacement due to disturbance caused by excessive excavation. The deeper anchor block, the less earth pressure of passive zone, an active earth pressure gets larger. When two anchor blocks were installed, displacement at top pole decreased 43.8% and 55.6% at ground when 1 anchor block was installed.

  • This study was investigated to evaluate the effect of electric fields application for the reduction of membrane fouling, the inactivation of microorganisms and the enhancement of particle coagulation in microfiltration/coagulation. Cumulative permeate in the case with electric field treatment showed high value compared to the case without electric field. Particularly, the increase of HRT (Hydraulic retention time) showed the increase of cumulative permeate as well as the decrease of total resistance. By electric field treatment, the amount of small particle size less than 100 ${\mu}m$ is increased and the survival fraction is reduced by the increase of electric field intensity. This may be attributed to the cleavage of particle or cytological destruction resulting from the inactivation of microorganism. Coagulant dosage of PAC compared with no electric field application could also be saved about 75% for the 95% of turbidity removal at 10 kV/cm.

  • This study deals with the conventional consolidation methods like preloading and vertical drains. For it, Two different mechanism, i.e., increasing of permeability and evaporating of pore water were studied. The marine clays excavated in Incheon were heated at low temperature($90^{\circ}C$) to increase the permeability. Also, Microwave oven and high-temperature electric heater were used for pore water evaporation. Several points raised from the experiments. To fix them, the electric heating system was revised to upgrade the field application and drain efficiency of pore water, and the marine clays were heated by revised electric heater at high temperature($250^{\circ}C$). From Experimental result showed that results, high-temperature heater induced the pore water evaporation and displayed the excellent consolidation behavior. In addition, the cone index of heated clays were increased about 19 times, which suggested that electric heating system could be applied for ensuring the trafficability of heavy equipments.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the change of physicochemical properties of humic acid, surfactants and water by pulsed electric field treatment. Critical micelle concentration(CMC) of surfactants and physicochemical properties of water were determined by the conductivity measurement, FT-IR and NMR, respectively. In electric field processing, structural changes of C-N complex and C=O were founded by FT-IR analysis. The increase of Hertz wave was in the range of 2.3 to 9.9 Hz in NMR analysis. CMC of cation and anion surfactant decreased to 1.3% and 9.2%, respectively, while the value of UV-vis increased. UV-vis of humic acid decreased by pulsed electric field. Therefore, application of pulsed electric field systeme was directly indicated to influence the physicochemical properties of water and organic compounds.

  • In this study, we developed the electric heating equipment and applied for soft ground improvement. The developed heat pipe is 4 m-length and consumes 1 kW/m, which is consisted of Ni-Cr wire. It was installed in 3.5~4.5 m below ground surface and heated for 96 hours (48 hours, 2 times). The temperature variation and vapor pressure caused by electric heating was measured by the thermometer and pressure gauge which were installed in the ground (5.0 m), and the tip resistances were measured by static electronic piezo-cone penetration test (CPT). As the results of experiments, 2-order polynomial curve was shown to adjust the variation of tip resistance and the temperature distribution with the horizontal distance from electric heater, whose R2 value is close to 1. In addition, in-situ pore-water pressure and water content was decreased.

  • Many electric poles in the softground have been collapsed due to external load. In this study, 10 types of tests were performed with variation of location, numbers and depths of anchor blocks as well as depth of poles to find horizontal earth pressure through full scale pull-out tests. The horizontal earth pressure increased with embedded depth of electric pole, and earth pressure of lower passive zone decreased. The deeper of anchor block, earth pressure of passive zone becomes less. lateral displacements showed differences depending on location, numbers and depth of poles. The bending is generated in the upper part at the initial load, but it moved to central part as load increased. The maximum horizontal displacement decreased to 1/1.6 at -0.5m depth of anchor block and 1.3m additional laying depth of poles into ground.

  • Together with the GPS-based approach, geo-location through mobile communication networks is a key technology for location-based service. To save the cost, most geo-location system is implemented on the existed network service, which has a cellular structure. Still, multilateration is limited in cellular structure because it is difficult for the mobile terminal to acquire distance measurements from multiple base stations. This low hearability in the receiver is caused by co-channel interference and multipath environment. Therefore, hearability enhancement is necessary for multilateration under multipath and interference environment. Former time domain based hearability methods were designed for real signals. However, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal, which its usage has been increased in digital wireless communication, is a complex signal. Thus, different hearability enhancement method is needed for OFDM signals. This paper proposes a hearability enhancement method for forward-link multilateration using OFDM signals, which employ interference cancellation and multipath mitigation. A novel interference cancellation and multipath mitigation strategy for complex-valued OFDM signals is presented that has an iterative structure. Simulation results show that the proposed multilateration method provides the user's position with an accuracy of less than 80m through the mobile WiMAX cellular network in multipath environment.
