  • Electrical Designs for Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) has undergone a change recently with the advent of the sub-wavelength lithography. The optical projection with 193 nm wavelength has been further extended with the use of immersion and other techniques. The competing trends for printing smaller design features have been discussed in this paper with the discussion of the electrical layout analysis to find unfriendly design features. The early knowledge of the unfriendly design features allows remedial actions in time for better yield on the wafer. There are existing standard design qualification criteria being used in the design and fabrication community, but they seem to be insufficient to guarantee defect free designs. This paper proposes an integrated approach for screening the layout with multiple aspects: layout geometry based, graphical analysis and process model based verification. The results have been discussed with few example design features from the 28nm design layout.

  • In order to investigate the effects of Kamikwakjeongtang by using the experimental animals. the action on gastrointestinal smooth muscles. the action of gastric juice secretion, the action of antiulcer. the transport ability of intestinal contents. the action of anticatharsis and the actions on the central nervous system were studied. The results were as follow: 1. Spontaneous motility of the isolated ileum of mice was suppressed and antiacetylcho-line chloride action was recognized. 2. Anti-action on barium chloride of fundus-strip of white rat was recognized. 3. Supression effects on gastric juice secretion. free acidity was recognized. 4. Preventive effect on the ulcer induced by pylorus-ligated was recognized. 5. Supression effects of large intestinal transport ability was recognized. 6. Anti-carthartic action was shown but was not recognized. 7. Analgesic effect by the acetic-acid method and prolonged effect of the total sleep time by pentobarbital-Na were recognized. According to the above results, effects based on oriental medical reference were consistent with the actual experimental effects.

  • Monitoring of system cleanliness levels and counting of particulate contaminant are fundamental to achieving hydraulic system reliability as any departure from the specified cleanliness level is often a precursor to future failures. On-line monitoring of cleanliness levels has the advantage of giving data both very quickly and accurately as environmental influences are eliminated. In this way, corrective actions can be promptly implemented. Most on-line instruments are sensitive to system conditions to a greater or lesser extent, but Automatic Particle Counters (APCs) working on light extinction principles are especially sensitive to the presence of optical interfaces caused by such conditions as fluid mixtures, emulsions, free water and air bubbles. These conditions give erroneous data and can result in drawing incorrect conclusions, wasting maintenance time and ultimately, reduced user confidence in cleanliness monitoring. This paper describes such conditions and shows how the correct selection of the analysis technique can result in reliable cleanliness level data.

  • Heme oxygenase (HO)-l catabolizes heme into three products: carbon monoxide, bilirubin, and free iron. HO-l serves as a protective gene by virtue of the anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic and anti-proliferative actions of one or more of these three products. HO-l can be regarded as a potential therapeutic target in a variety of oxidant-mediated and inflammatory diseases. In this respect, it would be valuable to develop potent and selective inducers of HO-1 for therapeutic use. Here, we have shown that 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-beta-D-glucose, catalposide and dehydrocostus lactone are potent inducers of HO-1 and exert cytoprotective and anti-inflammatory activities via HO-1-ependent machanism.

  • In order to certify the diuretic mechanism of dopamine, this study was performed in dog. The following results were obtained. Dopamine, when given intravenously, produced diuresis, and increased glomerular filtration rate (GFR), renal plasma flow (RPF), and amount of sodium excreted in urine. When infused directly into a renal artery, dopamine elicited a marked diuresis confined only to the infused side, with concomitant rises in osmolar clearance and sodium excretion as well as a slight increase in free water clearance. Simultaneously total renal plasma flow and medullary plasma flow increased markedly with a increase of glomerular filtration rate and renal plasma flow. Medullary concentration gradient of sodium also markedly lowered in the infused kidney. These changes were not observed during mannitol diuresis and renal action of dopamine were not apparent in dog pretreated with haloperidol. From the above experimental results, it is thought that dopamine, when given into a vien or infused directly into a renal artery, induces diuresis, and the mechanism of its action is due to dual actions which are hemodynamic effect along with glomerular filtraction rate, and the increased response in the medullary blood flow.

  • We show that if a finite group G acts freely with homotopically trivial translations on a 3-dimensional nilmanifold 𝓝p with the first homology ℤ2 ⊕ ℤp, then either G is cyclic or there exist finite nonabelian groups acting freely on 𝓝p which yield orbit manifolds homeomorphic to 𝓝/𝜋3 or 𝓝/𝜋4.

  • Warranty cost analysis for one-dimensional warranties assumes that the usage intensity (or rate) is the same for all buyers. In real life the usage intensity varies across the population of buyers. Also for products sold with warranty, preventive maintenance actions by manufacturers and buyers have a significant impact on the total costs for both parties. In this paper we deals with models to study the expected warranty cost for products with free repairable warranty with varying usage intensity and three types of preventive maintenance. We also review the literature which links warranty and maintenance and develops a framework to define new topics for research in the future and examines a new model formulation. It then develops a new model and carries out its analysis.

  • The market for used products is becoming more competitive and dealers of used products use warranty to promote sales as well as to provide assurance to customers. Offering warranty results in additional costs associated with warranty servicing. This cost can be reduced through actions such as overhaul and upgrade that improves the reliability of the item. This is worthwhile only if the cost of improvement is less than the reduction in the warranty servicing cost. This paper deals with two models to decide on the reliability improvement strategies for used items sold with FRW policy.

  • This article explores how women's voices are constructed in The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway and Nỗi buồn chiến tranh (The Sorrow of War) by Bảo Ninh. Specifically, this article approaches presentations of women's personalities and positions in the two novels that do not have obvious historical and geographical connections. The women's voices in the two novels, as this article suggests, are characterized by women's desire for self-determination, where they are able to free themselves from domination, and even influence men's psychology and actions. In comparing the characteristics of women's voices in the two works, the article aims to highlight different ways in which women assert their agency. The article affirms the potential contribution of cultural contexts in examining feminist voices and understanding how female figures are made to overcome default passivity and submission to male domination.

  • Where S is a pomonoid, let Pos-S be the category of S-posets and S-poset maps. We start off by characterizing the pomonoids S for which all projectives in this category are either generators or free. We then study the notions of regular injectivity and weakly regularly d-injectivity in this category. This leads to homological classification results for pomonoids. Among other things, we get find relationships between regular injectivity in the slice category Pos-S/BS, for any S-poset BS, and generators and cyclic projectives in Pos-S.
