This study attempted to understand current status of overseas virtual fashion brands and analyze attributes of common digital fashion brands. Based on brand analysis criteria of previous studies, digital fashion brands were analyzed for brand concept, price range, characteristic elements, and attributes. Digital fashion design elements of items, colors, materials, patterns, and effects were analyzed by collecting images of brands' digital fashion design products. Digital fashion brands could be divided into experimental and creative digital fashion brands and digital fashion brands aiming for popular brands. This study introduces a creative fashion collection that experiments sustainability and future value. It shares a new way of self-expression and a playful culture centered on the younger generation. In terms of fashion design elements, fashion items were similar to the existing fashion category, but included other accessories that reflected the lifestyle of Generation Z. Silhouette expressed a minimalistic futuristic image centered on straight silhouettes. Color showed a bold and modern color image through black and color contrast. Unique patterns reflecting the concept of the brand appeared, centering on abstract and geometric patterns. Regarding materials and effects, new elements differentiated from existing fashion design area, showing meaningful characteristics. Digital materials are developed and proposed for sustainability. Materials (such as metal, glass, plastic) and effects (such as weightlessness, flames) expand impossible senses in reality and enable new fashion experiences. This is a case study of digital fashion brands. It is meaningful in that it identifies characteristics and discusses their values and meanings.
The purpose of this study is to determine the fashion images implied in men's fashion trends and systematize the characteristics of the textile materials used for fashion images, by analyzing men's fashion trends published by Korean fashion information service companies. This study would be meaningful if it can suggest some objective criteria for the characteristics of textile per fashion image. The researcher analyzed the data on the basis of 8 fashion images, which were ethnic, modern, traditional, avant-garde, active, romantic, natural, techno ones. Above men's fashion images were choosed by analyze the some literatures and men's fashion trend information. The data used for this study were information about S/S and F/W men's fashion trends published by Interfashion planning, Samsung fashion Research Center for the period of 1995-2000. The data collected were subject to “content analysis method”. As a result of the analysis, the major images of 1995-2000 were natural, active, traditional, modern, ethnic, avant-garde, techno images, and while such combinations of conflicting images as ethnic/modern, traditional/avant-garde, natural/techno. Other mixed images were ethnic/natural, modern/active, tradional/active, traditional/modern, romantic/modern, ethnic/romantic, traditional/natural, modern/natural, active/natural, active/traditional/natural, etc. The various characteristics of eight men's fashion images were found in color, pattern and textile materials.
The purposes of this study were to analyse the written clothing described in the magazine (Yea-Won) and then to review the characteristics of advertising and trends of fashion in Korea for last 10 years of 1955-1965 with a new approach to classify the images of fashion. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The characteristics of fashion advertising during this period indicated design appeals, pragmatic appeals, and image appeals. It also represented intermediate status of modern advertising and publication. 2. The trends of fashion market segmentation could be divided into four types: Fashion which considered seasons and time-place-occasion/ Fashion considered ages, occupations, and body conditions/ Fashion focused on materials/ Fashion with enlightenment, 3. The most frequently used colors were black. navy blue, white, and gray, however, it showed varieties from late 1964. Fashion materials used in clothing were kinds of wools, cottons, synthetic and combined materials. 4. Image appeals of fashion trends could be classified as Active-Country and Romantic-Elegance images.
To satisfy consumers' desire to enjoy their own individuality and cultural trends, the discovery of various materials and the expression of materials embodying their characteristics are increasingly important in the fashion jewelry industry. This study examines, paper mulberry fiber, a raw material of hanji that has been excavated as a new material for fashion jewelry, is durable as wall as, soft and easy to form, has a unique texture along with, excellent aesthetic quality, and expresses various colors, thereby differentiating itself from traditional fashion jewelry materials. The material itself also has symbolic significance as an approach to discovering new sustainable materials for fashion jewelry to ensure increased specificity of the product based on the premise of freedom of expression. The weight and optimal drying time of chicken fiber were derived for the study of fashion jewelry expression using the characteristics of paper mulberry fiber. The techniques of casting, deflection, packing and winding (winding beads with fibers and straps) were derived and four brooches were produced in total. This study is meaningful for the future of, the fashion jewelry industry as it presents the uses of new materials such as paper mulberry fiber to induce multidisciplinary consumption and to suggest a direction for the creation of new value-added products. Further, in order to expand the realm of fashion jewelry industry with our own competitive products that have secured our cultural identity and uniqueness in the global market, there must be continued follow-up research on mass production methods for industrialization.
In the modern fashion industry, the application of different materials along with an emotional design is emerging as an important factor stimulating consumer sentiment. This has led to the diversity of materials and continued active research on materials. Traditional Korean paper is expressed in various ways in the field of visual arts based on Korean sentiment and unique formative characteristics. Hanji costumes have been produced in various ways over the past 20 years utilizing Hanji's physical characteristics, showing unique surface texture and various techniques that differentiate them from existing fabrics, making it symbolic in expanding the area of fashion materials. In this work, various techniques were developed by utilizing the nonwoven characteristics and excellent variability of Hanji while considering visual images, focusing on the delicate decorations and materialistic representations of wedding dresses. In addition, minimal wedding dresses with unique textures were produced to realize fantasy ideas and show surface aesthetics, confirming as a fashion material different from that of existing wedding dresses. The direction of high value-added creation for the industrialization and globalization of Hanji wedding dresses was presented, and the usefulness and scalability of Hanji materials for practical and industrialization were identified in materials that expressed visual art. To in the fashion industry, which is changing in both the wedding industry and the global market, the development of materials with high sensitivity images and original and solid identity should continue.
This study examines the fashion illustrations textbooks that have been published in the domestic market, and identifies its characteristics and problems in regards to its use in developing creative students. The purpose of the study is to propose ways to improve the development of the fashion illustration textbooks. The research method of this study are as follows: First, the teaching materials on fashion illustration in Korea were researched to examine the current state of publication. Second, its contents were analyzed to identify its characteristics. Third, an improvement plan of educational materials on fashion illustration in Korea were proposed. As for the scope of study, 18 volumes of fashion illustration teaching materials published in Korea during 2004-2014 were targeted. It should be noted that translated publications, digital fashion illustration materials and teaching materials for specialized and professional organizations were excluded. Conclusions of this study are as follows: First, examination of the textbooks revealed that additional content is needed regarding theoretical understanding of fashion illustration, as well as illustrations of men and children, as there was an insufficient amount of those topics. Second, the contents on the illustration application using current trends were lacking in the unit on illustration application. Accordingly, it is necessary to develop contents that reflect these trends. Lastly, the textbooks should be packaged with compact discs CDs containing video clips to assist students to get a better grasp of the material. The result of this study can be used to develop new teaching materials on fashion illustration, and be utilized as basic information in the curriculum design of fashion illustration.
This study is aimed at reviewing how the Orientalism trend is expressed in the modem fashion in terms of silhouette, color, materials, and detail. To this end, the geographic scope of this study is limited to China, Japan, Korea, while data are collected from fashion collections, domestic and foreign magazines since 2000's, literature, and internet sites. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: 1. Silhouette: the basic square silhouette of the Oriental traditional costume do not disturb the body movement and have an effected on design to smoothly follow the body line rather than cutting out materials into several parts or emphasize the curved body. 2. Color: due to the influence of the Oriental Zen thought, color trend seems to pursue simplicity rather than complexity, and natural aesthetics. In addition, the Oriental colorfulness shall not be ignored. 3. Materials: golden embroidered material, polished satin, jersey, tough or rough materials, etc. have used with materials of the Oriental traditional costume came into fashion. In pattern, the Orientalism trend is expressive of pattern by Chinese ink-spread technique, simple brush touch technique, cloud pattern, lotus flower pattern or dragon pattern, all of which feature the Oriental calm aesthetics or those motivated by the Oriental traditional patterns. 4. Detail: the techniques of handicrafts and manual arts such as meticulous embroidery, tassel or patchwork reflect well the Orientalism trend in the modem fashion.
This study reviewed the basic principle of "Maximalism" fashion and analyzed the properties of fashion types with found the frequencies of various styles and design factors of "Maximalism" fashion in collection. The limits of this study is from 2001, s/s, maximalism was embossed in a modem fashion, to 2007, f/w, and collected the fashion collection pictures from www.samsungdesign.net and www.style.com. The results of this study are as follows. First, the most frequent style of "Maximalism" design showed in International fashion collection was "exaggerated style." Second, the design factors of "Maximalism" fashion were also examined. In case of silhouette, "hourglass silhouette" was the most frequent silhouette. In case of pattern, "solid" color was the most frequently used. In case of materials, the soft materials were the most frequently used. Third, the frequencies of design factors of maximalism by presentation types was compared and analyzed. In case of expansion, "bulk silhouette" was the most frequent silhouette to be appeared, and about multi-ethnic, futurelism, and elegance, "hourglass silhouette" was frequent appeared. In case of pattern, "solid" color was the most frequently used in all types. In case of materials, the hard materials were the most frequently used in expansion, multi-ethnic and futurelism. "Maximalism" fashion which is most splendid trend would grow up rapidly in the modem fashion market and influence on the other fashion trend in our every day life. Consequently, this research can be referred as practical information in fashion marketing and it will contribute to the future fashion research as well.
For the purpose of this study is the re-searcher investigated the concept and background of kitsch and the character of Kitsch in the paintings with focus on the Surrealism and Pop Art. In this study it was focused that how the shapes and materials was expressed in the modern fashion. The purposes of this study are to examine older consumers' seeking benefits and purchase intentions for functional materials and their attitudes towards such materials and investigate the differences between purchasers and non-purchasers of functional materials in their seeking benefits for functional materials and their emphasis on self development and pursuit of fashion. In doing so, this study samples the older adult population living in Seoul, Busan, and Gyeonggi Province and analyzes 267 questionnaire responses obtained from the sampled older consumers. The main findings from the analysis are as follows: First, the older consumers' seeking benefits for functional materials were represented by three different dimensions: reliability, brands/fashion, and others-oriented pursuit. Second, the influence on the dimension of reliability was more significant in the order of knowledge on functional materials, pursuit of fashion, and emphasis on self-development the interest in garments and the pursuit of fashion were found to have significant influence on the dimensions of brands/fashion and others-oriented pursuit. Third, the respondents' attitudes towards functional materials showed significant correlations with the dimensions of reliability and others-oriented pursuit, while their purchase intentions for functional materials were significantly influenced by the dimensions of reliability and brands/fashion. Finally, when the differences in the respondents' seeking benefits for functional materials and their pursuit of fashion and emphasis on self-development were investigated according to whether or not they had ever purchased clothes made from any functional material, the group of purchasers showed a higher mean value than the non-purchaser group.
