새터민의 자아존중감 및 내적귀인성향에 따른 사회문화적 적응 (Social-Cultural Adjustment of North Korean Defectors by Self-Esteem and Internal Attribution)

  • This study explores the social-cultural adjustments of North Korean defectors with respect to their self-esteem and internal attribution. The data were obtained from a survey of 195 North Korean defectors who had recently entered South Korea. The respondents had moderate difficulties in their social-cultural adjustment consisting of social activity restriction, discrimination, and social exclusion. Their social-cultural adjustment was positively associated with internal attribution. Those with internal attribution tended to have fewer problems in adjusting to the social systems and culture of South Korea. The findings of this study imply that psychological resources play a role in enhancing the social-cultural adjustment of North Korean defectors.

Family Factors Influencing Korean Mothers' Postpartum Depression

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of family related factors (mothers' self-esteem, mothers' parenting stress, mothers' marital satisfaction, fathers' parenting involvement, and social support) on mothers' postpartum depression. The subjects were 797 households that were extracted from the $1^{st}$ wave of the Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC). The study variables were measured using the survey questionnaires, and analyses of Pearson's correlation and multiple regression were conducted. Results showed that family related factors significantly predicted mothers' postpartum depression. Moreover, the most significant predictor was mothers' parenting stress, followed by marital satisfaction, self-esteem, fathers' parenting involvement, and social support. Study findings indicate that mothers' postpartum depression is attributed to not only personal but also family related factors. Our results suggest importance of parent education and family support along with social support.

아동의 성, 연령, 자아 존중감과 연예인 우상화 현상 (Childern's Sex, Age, Self-Esteem and Entertainers Idolization)

  • The current study was designed to expand oar understanding of children's entertainer idolization phenomenon by investigating the relationship between Korean teens'entertainer idolization and their self-esteem. Four hundred and fifty five children (244 11 year-olds, 211 14 year-olds) were randomly selected from 4 elementary schools and middle schools located in Inchon and Seoul, Korea. A set of reliable and valid self-reporting questionnaire was used: Adolescent Idolization of Pop Singer (Raviv, 1996 translated into Korean), which include questions about how children express their entertainer idolization, the reason for the idolization and the influence of the idols on children's lives, was selected to measure children's entertainer idolization and Self-Esteem Questionnaire for Korean Children and Adolescence (Kyung-Yeun, 1999 Korean) was used to measure children's self-esteem in academic achievement, peer-related, physical-appearance, family-related. and personality dimensions. The major results of the study were: (1) The singers and male entertainers were the most popular among Korean teens. (2) The results of two sample comparisons showed that 14-year olds and girls expressed their entertainer idolization more actively than their counter paras (11-year olds and boys, respectively). (3) Entertainers'personal characteristics were found to be the most important factor that influence idolization. (4) The relationship between entertainer idolization and self-esteem was stronger in the case of 11-year olds than in the case of 14-year olds.

노인의 일에 대한 주관적인 평가와 자아존중감 간의 관계 (A study on Self-esteem and Subjective Evaluations to Work among Elderly Persons)

  • The purpose of this study was to look into correlations between subjective evaluation on the work and self-esteem of the elderly so as to provide information for finding out ways of developing their self-esteem. The subjects of this study were 318 elderly persons in Chonnam and Kwangju city. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency percentage mean standard deviation reliability stepwise and multiple regression analysis through the SAS package program. the major findings of this study can be summarized as follows; 1) The self-esteem of elderly persons was 25,9 which was above the median 24. 2) According to the results related to subjective evaluations on the work among the elderly the positive correlation was by education level family situation economic state social activity level and health state while the negative correlation was by sex, age, and spouse. 3) According to the results related to subjective evaluations on the work among the elderly the positive correl tion was by worker identity job satisfaction quality of work time. 4) In model 1. variable affecting their self-esteem were health sate education level economic state health state age social activity level and sex. In Model 2, variables affecting their self-esteem were worker identity education level economic state age health state social activity level job satisfaction and sex. Especially self-estee of elderly was highly correlated with subjective evaluations on the work among the elderly persons.

성조숙증 여아의 자아존중감 영향요인 (Factors Influencing Self-esteem of Girls with Precocious Puberty)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing self-esteem among girls with precocious puberty. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive survey design was used, with a convenience sample of 146 girls with precocious puberty and 146 their mother or father. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires from July through August, 2017. Results: The item mean score for self-esteem in girls with precocious puberty was 2.56 (${\pm}0.26$). Stepwise multiple regression showed that friend support (${\beta}=.51$, p<.001), family support (${\beta}=.19$, p=.015) and the recognition of intimacy with mother (${\beta}=.18$, p=.005) were factors influencing self-esteem among girls with precocious puberty. Conclusion: To promote the self-esteem of girls with precocious puberty, it is necessary to plan an intervention strategy that includes support for the girls as well as support for their friends and parents.

성인학습자의 자아존중감, 모 애착이 이러닝 교육과정의 학습자가 선택한 전공만족도에 미치는 영향에 관한 융합적 연구 (The Convergence Study on Influences of Self-esteem in Adulthood and Attachment to Mother on Adult Students' Major Satisfaction in e-learning education)

  • 본 연구는 성인학습자들의 모 애착이 자아존중감을 매개로 이러닝 교육과정에서 선택한 전공만족도에 영향을 미치는지 분석하고자 구조방정식을 통해 검증하였다. 본 연구대상은 이러닝 교육대상자로서 선정가능한 사이버대학에 재학 중인 529명이 설문에 참여하였으며, 선정한 변인들의 관계를 분석하기 위해 구조방정식 모형분석(Structural Equation Modeling)을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 의하면, 아동기 어머니에 대한 애착은 자아존중감을 매개로 이러닝 교육과정에 참여하고 있는 성인 학습자들의 전공만족도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 아동기 애착 및 자아존중감이 이러닝 교육에 참여하고 있는 성인학습자의 학교생활에 영향을 미치는 요인이라는 것을 알 수 있다.

다문화청소년이 지각한 부모의 양육태도가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감과 우울의 매개효과를 중심으로 (Impacts of Parenting Attitudes Perceived by Multicultural Family Adolescents on School Life Adaptation : Based on Meditation Effect of Self-esteem and Depression)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 다문화청소년이 지각한 부모의 긍정적 양육태도인 감독과 부정적 양육태도인 방임이 학교 생활적응에 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 자아존중감과 우울이 부모의 양육태도와 학교생활적응 간의 관계에서 매개역할을 수행하는지 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 '다문화청소년패널조사(MAPS)' 2016년 제6차 년도 데이터를 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구대상은 제6차 년도 조사자 1,329명 중 16세 미만의 자녀이고, 어머니가 외국인인 국제결혼가정 자녀에 해당하는 다문화청소년 1,236명이다. 본 연구를 통해 도출한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 감독과 자아존중감은 학교생활적응에 긍정적 영향을, 방임과 우울은 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 다문화청소년이 지각한 부모의 긍정적 양육태도인 감독 및 부정적 양육태도인 방임은 자아존중감과 우울을 매개로 하여 학교생활적응에 부분적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과에 기초하여 다문화청소년들의 학교생활적응도를 높이기 위한 다문화가정 부모들의 양육태도에 시사하는 실천적 함의를 논의하였다.

미디어리터러시, 자아존중감이 고등학생의 성개방성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Media Literacy and Self-esteem on Sexual Permissiveness among High School Students)

  • 본 연구는 고등학생의 미디어리터러시와 자아존중감이 성개방성에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 본 연구는 서울, 경기, 인천 지역의 7개 고등학교 639명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 회귀분석 결과, 성개방성에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 성별, 경제상태, SML1, SE가족이 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 청소년의 성에 대한 올바른 태도를 함양시키기 위한 성교육 프로그램으로 미디어 정보를 비판적으로 분석하고 수용하는 미디어리터러시를 기르며, 가족과 연계하여 가족에 대한 자아존중감을 향상시키는 내용을 포함하는 것이 효과적이라 사료된다.

  • This study investigated the structural relationships between parental attitude, social support, self-esteem, and levels of adjustment to school life of children from multicultural families. Participants were 177 elementary school children from multicultural families in 1st to 6th grade of elementary school in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area of South Korea. The major findings were as follows. 1) Parenting attitude, social support, and self-esteem had direct effects on levels of children's adjustment to school life. 2) Parental attitudes and social support had direct effects on children's levels of self-esteem. 3) Parental attitudes and social support also had indirect effects on levels of adjustment to school life of these children. This study suggested that various concern and supports from multi level of society are required to improve adjustment to school life in children from multicultural families.

청소년이 지각한 부모의 양육태도 유형: 부모의 삶의 만족도와 자아존중감의 영향력과 유형에 따른 청소년의 학업열의와 학업 무기력 (Parenting Attitudes Profiles as Perceived by Adolescents: The Influence of Parents' Life Satisfaction and Self-Esteem and Academic Engagement and Academic Helplessness of the Adolescents Associated with the Profiles)

  • The study set out to identify the number of types of parental attitude profiles and their characteristics, as perceived by adolescents. The study also examined whether predictor variables (parent life satisfaction and self-esteem) influence parenting attitude profiles and whether these profiles, in turn, influence adolescent academic engagement and academic helplessness. The sample consisted of data on 2,590 adolescents and their parents from the 2018 Korean Children and Youths Panel Survey (KCYPS). The adolescents were in the first grade of middle school. Using Mplus, the author applied latent profile analysis to identify the parenting attitude profiles and predictor and outcome variables associated with these profiles. Three profiles were identified based on major features: (1) coercion-inconsistency (8.3%), (2) general (47.3%), and (3) warmth-autonomy support (44.4%). Parent life satisfaction and self-esteem predicted the classification of the profiles. Also, the parental profiles identified the level of adolescent academic engagement and academic helplessness. The findings have important implications for family policies and practices given the significance of parent psychological status, particularly life satisfaction and self-esteem, on their adolescent children's academic engagement and academic helplessness.
