  • We study the existence of positive T-periodic solutions of ratio-dependent predator-prey systems with time periodic and spatially dependent coefficients. The fixed point theorem by H. Amann is used to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of positive T-periodic solutions.

  • In this paper, we consider the second-order nonlinear differential equation with the nonlocal boundary conditions. We first reformulate this boundary value problem as a fixed point problem for a Fredholm integral equation operator, and then present a result on the existence and uniqueness of the solution by using the contraction mapping theorem. Furthermore, we establish a sufficient condition on the functions ${\mu}$ and $h_i$, i = 1, 2 that guarantee a unique solution for this nonlocal problem in a Hilbert space. Also, accurate analytic solutions in series forms for this boundary value problems are obtained by the Adomian decomposition method (ADM).

  • The isoperimetric problem is a well-known optimization problem from ancient Greek. Among plane figures with the same perimeter, which is the largest area surrounded? The answer to the question is circle. Zenodorus and Steiner's pure geometric proofs, which left a lot of achievements in this matter, looked beautiful with ideas at that time. But there was a fatal flaw in the proof. The weakness is related to the existence of the solution. In this paper, from a view of the existence of the solution, we investigate proofs of Zenodorus and Steiner and get educational implications.

  • Let G = (V, E) be a connected locally finite and weighted graph, ∆p be the p-th graph Laplacian. Consider the p-th nonlinear equation -∆pu + h|u|p-2u = f(x, u) on G, where p > 2, h, f satisfy certain assumptions. Grigor'yan-Lin-Yang [24] proved the existence of the solution to the above nonlinear equation in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ V. In this paper, we show that there exists a strictly positive solution on the infinite set V to the above nonlinear equation by modifying some conditions in [24]. To the m-order differential operator 𝓛m,p, we also prove the existence of the nontrivial solution to the analogous nonlinear equation.

  • In this article, we are devoted to study the problem of the existence, uniqueness and positivity of the global solutions of the 3 × 3 reaction-diffusion systems with the total mass of the components with time. We also suppose that the nonlinear reaction term has a critical growth with respect to the gradient. The technique that we used to prove the global existence is the method of the compact semigroup.

  • This paper is mainly concerned with the existence of solution for nonlinear impulsive fractional dynamic equations on a special time scale. We introduce the new concept and propositions of fractional q-integral, q-derivative, and α-Lipschitz in the paper. By using a new fixed point theorem, we obtain some new existence results of solutions via some generalized singular Gronwall inequalities on time scales. Further, an interesting example is presented to illustrate the theory.

  • We consider the global existence of strong solutions of the 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a long periodic domain. We show by a simple argument that a strong solution exists globally in time when the initial velocity in $H^1$ and the forcing function in $L^p$([0; T);$L^2$), T > 0, $2{\leq}p{\leq}+\infty$ satisfy a certain condition. This condition common appears for the global existence in thin non-periodic domains. Larger and larger initial data and forcing functions satisfy this condition as the thickness of the domain $\epsilon$ tends to zero.

  • In this paper, we consider the global existence of strong solutions to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on the cubic domain in $R^3$. While the global existence for arbitrary data remains as an important open problem, we here provide with some new observations on this matter. We in particular prove the global existence result when ${\Omega}$ is a cubic domain and initial and forcing functions are some linear combination of functions of at most two variables and the like by decomposing the spectral basis differently.

  • In the manuscript, we concern with the existence of solutions of boundary value problems for fourth order nonlinear discrete systems. Some criteria for the existence of at least one nontrivial solution of the problem are obtained. The proof is mainly based upon the variational method and critical point theory. An example is presented to illustrate the main result.
