Pakistan is a top producer and exporter of high-quality rice, but traditional methods are still being used for detecting rice diseases. This research project developed an automated rice blast disease diagnosis technique based on deep learning, image processing, and transfer learning with pre-trained models such as Inception V3, VGG16, VGG19, and ResNet50. The modified connection skipping ResNet 50 had the highest accuracy of 99.16%, while the other models achieved 98.16%, 98.47%, and 98.56%, respectively. In addition, CNN and an ensemble model K-nearest neighbor were explored for disease prediction, and the study demonstrated superior performance and disease prediction using recommended web-app approaches.
Radar is an essential sensor component in autonomous vehicles, and the market for radar applications in this context is steadily expanding with a growing variety of products. In this study, we aimed to enhance the stability and performance of radar systems by developing and evaluating a radar performance prediction model that can predict radar defects. We selected seven machine learning and deep learning algorithms and trained the model with a total of 49 input data types. Ultimately, when we employed an ensemble of 17 models, it exhibited the highest performance. We anticipate that these research findings will assist in predicting product defects at the production stage, thereby maximizing production yield and minimizing the costs associated with defective products.

The purpose of this study was to compare the performance using multiple regression models to predict the energy consumption of steel industry. Specific independent variables were selected in consideration of correlation among various attributes such as CO2 concentration, NSM, Week Status, Day of week, and Load Type, and preprocessing was performed to solve the multicollinearity problem. In data preprocessing, we evaluated linear and nonlinear relationships between each attribute through correlation analysis. In particular, we decided to select variables with high correlation and include appropriate variables in the final model to prevent multicollinearity problems. Among the many regression models learned, Boosted Decision Tree Regression showed the best predictive performance. Ensemble learning in this model was able to effectively learn complex patterns while preventing overfitting by combining multiple decision trees. Consequently, these predictive models are expected to provide important information for improving energy efficiency and management decision-making at steel industry. In the future, we plan to improve the performance of the model by collecting more data and extending variables, and the application of the model considering interactions with external factors will also be considered.
The advancement in large-scale underground excavation in urban areas necessitates monitoring and predicting technologies that can pre-emptively mitigate risk factors at construction sites. Traditionally, two methods predict the deformation of retaining walls induced by excavation: empirical and numerical analysis. Recent progress in artificial intelligence technology has led to the development of a predictive model using machine learning techniques. This study developed a model for predicting the deformation of a retaining wall under construction using a boosting-based algorithm and an ensemble model with outstanding predictive power and efficiency. A database was established using the data from the design-construction-maintenance process of the underground retaining wall project in a manifold manner. Based on these data, a learning model was created, and the performance was evaluated. The boosting and ensemble models demonstrated that wall deformation could be accurately predicted. In addition, it was confirmed that prediction results with the characteristics of the actual construction process can be presented using data collected from ground measurements. The predictive model developed in this study is expected to be used to evaluate and monitor the stability of retaining walls under construction.
Predicting term deposit subscriptions is one of representative financial marketing in banks, and banks can build a prediction model using various customer information. In order to improve the classification accuracy for term deposit subscriptions, many studies have been conducted based on machine learning techniques. However, even if these models can achieve satisfactory performance, utilizing them is not an easy task in the industry when their decision-making process is not adequately explained. To address this issue, this paper proposes an explainable scheme for term deposit subscription forecasting. For this, we first construct several classification models using decision tree-based ensemble learning methods, which yield excellent performance in tabular data, such as random forest, gradient boosting machine (GBM), extreme gradient boosting (XGB), and light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM). We then analyze their classification performance in depth through 10-fold cross-validation. After that, we provide the rationale for interpreting the influence of customer information and the decision-making process by applying Shapley additive explanation (SHAP), an explainable artificial intelligence technique, to the best classification model. To verify the practicality and validity of our scheme, experiments were conducted with the bank marketing dataset provided by Kaggle; we applied the SHAP to the GBM and LightGBM models, respectively, according to different dataset configurations and then performed their analysis and visualization for explainable term deposit subscriptions.

This study proposed a classification of malicious network traffic using the cyber threat framework(Mitre ATT&CK) and machine learning to solve the real-time traffic detection problems faced by current security monitoring systems. We applied a network traffic dataset called UNSW-NB15 to the Mitre ATT&CK framework to transform the label and generate the final dataset through rare class processing. After learning several boosting-based ensemble models using the generated final dataset, we demonstrated how these ensemble models classify network traffic using various performance metrics. Based on the F-1 score, we showed that XGBoost with no rare class processing is the best in the multi-class traffic environment. We recognized that machine learning ensemble models through Mitre ATT&CK label conversion and oversampling processing have differences over existing studies, but have limitations due to (1) the inability to match perfectly when converting between existing datasets and Mitre ATT&CK labels and (2) the presence of excessive sparse classes. Nevertheless, Catboost with B-SMOTE achieved the classification accuracy of 0.9526, which is expected to be able to automatically detect normal/abnormal network traffic.
An indoor navigation system that utilizes long-term evolution (LTE) signals has the benefit of no additional infrastructure installation expenses and low base station database management costs. Among the LTE signal measurements, received signal strength (RSS) is particularly appealing because it can be easily obtained with mobile devices. Propagation channel models can be used to estimate the position of mobile devices with RSS. However, conventional channel models have a shortcoming in that they do not discriminate between line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions of the received signal. Accordingly, a previous study has suggested separated LOS and NLOS channel models. However, a method for determining LOS and NLOS conditions was not devised. In this study, a machine learning-based LOS/NLOS classification method using RSS measurements is developed. We suggest several machine-learning features and evaluate various machine-learning algorithms. As an indoor experimental result, up to 87.5% classification accuracy was achieved with an ensemble algorithm. Furthermore, the range estimation accuracy with an average error of 13.54 m was demonstrated, which is a 25.3% improvement over the conventional channel model.
This paper aims to predict Busan's regional product and employment using the logistic regression models and machine learning models. The following are the main findings of the empirical analysis. First, the OLS regression model shows that the main industries such as electricity and electronics, machine and transport, and finance and insurance affect the Busan's income positively. Second, the binomial logistic regression models show that the Busan's strategic industries such as the future transport machinery, life-care, and smart marine industries contribute on the Busan's income in large order. Third, the multinomial logistic regression models show that the Korea's main industries such as the precise machinery, transport equipment, and machinery influence the Busan's economy positively. And Korea's exports and the depreciation can affect Busan's economy more positively at the higher employment level. Fourth, the voting ensemble model show the higher predictive power than artificial neural network model and support vector machine models. Furthermore, the gradient boosting model and the random forest show the higher predictive power than the voting model in large order.

In a situation where the severity and frequency of drought events getting stronger and higher, many studies related to drought forecast have been conducted to improve the drought forecast accuracy. However it is difficult to predict drought events using a single model because of nonlinear and complicated characteristics of temporal behavior of drought events. In this study, in order to overcome the shortcomings of the single model approach, we first build various single models capable to explain the relationship between the meteorological drought index, Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), and other independent variables such as world climate indices. Then, we developed a combined models using Stochastic Gradient Descent method among Ensemble Learnings.
Semiconductor engineers have long sought to enhance the energy efficiency of mobile semiconductors by reducing their voltage. During the final stages of the semiconductor manufacturing process, the screening and evaluation of voltage is crucial. However, determining the optimal test start voltage presents a significant challenge as it can increase testing time. In the semiconductor manufacturing process, a wealth of test element group information is collected. If this information can be controlled to predict the test voltage, it could lead to a reduction in testing time and increase the probability of identifying the optimal voltage. To achieve this, this paper is exploring machine learning techniques, such as linear regression and ensemble models, that can leverage large amounts of information for voltage prediction. The outcomes of these machine learning methods not only demonstrate high consistency but can also be used for feature engineering to enhance accuracy in future processes.
