Service companies are making constant efforts to gain positive business performance such as customer satisfaction, quality improvement, and valuable management. Compared to other industries, service companies are highly dependent on workers for responding to customers and satisfying various customer needs in terms of business content and type. Thus, the attitude, given, environment, and capacity of the workers who supply service and serve customers are important factors that directly and indirectly influence customer satisfaction and performance. To enhance the performance of organizations and gain competitive advantage, it is important to provide the various forms of social support for workers as service suppliers. In this sense, active interests including the development of personal competence, support for working environment, and providing chances for the development of new services are significant. This study is a follow-up study on the influence of social support for positive psychological capital, creativity, and work performance of service workers. Among the service process matrix, this study targets the workers involved in mass service fields and seeks to examine how support for co-worker influences the performance through self-efficacy. No empirical analysis has examined workers involved in mass service fields. Thus, this study aims to take an approach different from that of previous studies and to suggest more effective human resource management strategies for enhancing the competitiveness of service companies and provide related implications.
The purpose of this study is to develop an astronomy education program reflecting astronomical thinking to be used at science museum and to investigate the effect of the program on the improvement of astronomical thinking ability of high school students. After selecting the components of astronomical thinking through literature studies, we developed an astronomy education program consisting of four stages: demonstration and observation, and question and thinking, support and group discussion, demonstration and assessment. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program, we conducted a covariance analysis on the pre- and post-tests of the experimental group and control group to examine the level of students' thinking before and after using the program in teaching and learning. As a result, it was confirmed that the astronomy education program reflecting astronomical thinking was effective in promoting students' astronomical thinking ability. In particular, this program was effective in enhancing the ability of modeling by reconstructing the observed astronomical phenomenon from the viewpoint of the universe with respect to spatial thinking in the astronomy domain. It was also effective to improve the ability of organizing the system by grasping the relationship between the elements constituting the astronomical system in relation to the system thinking in the astronomy domain. This study is significant in suggesting a specific teaching and learning program to develop students' astronomical thinking.
This study explores mime elements of court Hagmu(鶴舞) in literature and what is expressed in the practice of current Hagmu and examines what has been changed while others are kept intact. The content of Hagmu is that "attracted by lotus flowers in a pond, cranes dance around and peck at them, when the blossoms open wide with a girl [dancer] inside, upon which the surprised cranes fly away." The dance consists of 4 steps: the first step is for the entrance of cranes; in the second step the cranes dance moving across jidang(池塘) and the north; in the third step the cranes are curious about the lotus calyces, yeontong(蓮筒); and the cranes withdraw in the fourth step. The literature suggests that the dancing courses on the stage are limited to the east, the west, the south, and the north. The movement is limited to naeson (內旋) only in mujin(舞進) and mutoe(舞退). Furthermore, the gaze is only allowed toward the north and jidang. Motions are limited to naejog(內足), oego (外顧), and naego(內顧). However, the mime elements of current Hagmu are attributed to the effort of translating crane's life into a realistic story. It relates the life of cranes to that of human beings and implies love in it. Finally, the court Hagmu has entered the real world out of the literature, enriched with new elements. Under the transition from literature to practice the diversity of expression is added while the elements related with court codes such as courses, movements, directions, and motions are kept intact. These limitations, however, are coupled with the sensitive 'love' and the exposure of dancing instruments intrigues audience and creates dramatic effect. In conclusion the significance of mime elements in court Hagmu is in enhancing communication with audience.
The performance of drip irrigation devices depends on flow uniformity related to the function of pressure compensation. The flow uniformity can be secured when the internal fluid pressures at the positions of the flow holes are maintained uniformly. The pressure compensation effect of the drip irrigation devices can be optimized with the combination of soft silicon and labyrinth structures. However, for a drip irrigation devices composed of only hard labyrinth structures, the flow rate is changed largely with the length and the internal geometry of the labyrinth structure. Although a drip irrigation devices with only hard labyrinth structures can be fabricated simply, the changes of flow rates with internal fluid pressures are much larger than those of the drip irrigation devices with soft silicon. Because the drip irrigation devices with only labyrinth structures can be utilized widely through the optimization of the fluid pressure, the length of the structures, and the cross-sectional area of them, the study on the optimization can play an important role for enhancing the performance of the drip irrigation devices. In this study, experimental and numerical studies for investigating the performance of the drip irrigation devices had been conducted. In the experiments and numerical calculations(CFD), the variable parameters were the lengths of the labyrinth structures(#1~#8) and the fluid pressures(0.5~3.0 bar).
Vegetation and water characteristics of an eco-technological water purifying biotope were investigated at five years after the wetland construction. A total of 91 vascular plant species in 36 families were recorded. Initially planted emergent macrophytes such as Phragmites australis, P. japonicus, Zizania latifolia, Typha latifolia, and T. angustifolia mainly comprised the vegetational components of the wetland. The effect of water purification was observed markedly in most indicators such as electric conductivity (P < 0.01), $NO_3-N$ (P < 0.05), $NH_4-N$ (P < 0.001), $K^+$ (P < 0.05), $Na^+$ (P < 0.01), and $Mg^{2+}$ (P < 0.01). In particular, $NO_3-N$ and $NH_4-N$ concentrations decreased to about 60% and 30%, respectively, via the purification process of the wetland. Separativeness and curvature from the meandering structure of 15 units (multi-cell wetland system) seemed likely to make the wetland continuously play a role as an eco-technological water purifying biotope. We recommend that eco-technological design factors should be included in wetland constructions for efficient and continuous functioning, thus enhancing ecological values of wetlands.
Teacher's gaze empathy for students in science class is considered to be effective in enhancing the learning effect. Thus, studies on gaze empathy have been conducted, but most of the studies are just to reveal the characteristics of gaze. Therefore, it is necessary to deal with a research to raise the level of science teacher's gaze empathy. The purpose of this study is to develop an instruction consulting strategy based on eye tracking for improving science teachers' gaze empathy. In this study, we selected and analyzed relevant literature on teacher's gaze empathy. We also designed a consulting strategy and then revised the design through expert reviews on validity and reliability. The developed consulting strategy was aimed to improve science teacher's gaze empathy and set quantitative goal based on eye tracking. The consulting strategy consisted of six steps: preparation for consulting, measurement and analysis of teacher's gaze empathy, instruction and feedback of gaze empathy, training for improving gaze empathy, evaluation of consulting result, and completion of the consulting. In addition, the consultation was completed or repeated again through the measurement and evaluation of gaze empathy using eye tracking. The developed consulting strategy has a value in that it provides an alternative with quantitative diagnosis and prescription for improving gaze empathy. The strategy can contribute to enhance teacher professional competency through the analysis of teaching behavior.
This study aims to contribute to the improvement of the patent activity of small and medium-sized enterprises in the future by proposing five strategies for enhancing customized patent activity for small and medium-sized enterprises under the assumption that patent application affects firm performance. The subjects of this study were 25 years of active patent activity, using patent activity statistics for 5 years from 2010 and statistical data of business performance based on 2014. The research procedure was conducted in the order of DEA-BCC efficiency analysis, patent activity analysis, and patent portfolio analysis, and then propose a strategy to improve patent activity. As a result of the research, it was confirmed that 5 industries with high patent activity and IRS type have a substantial effect on improving corporate performance as an industry with high patent efficiency. On the other hand, there are 12 industries in the form of IRS/DRS, and 8 industries with low patent activity, DRS, CRS/IRS mixed type and IRS, and that the efficiency of the patent may vary depending on the characteristics of each industry.
The use of social media in government has expanded steadily around the world on the basis of Web 2.0 technology. The government uses social media as a tool for enhancing transparency, participation, collaboration, and saving costs. However, the use of social media in the public sector has not only been positive. It has also been described as a double-edged sword. Most local governments in South Korea use social media for a variety of reasons but there has not been enough practical study of the effectiveness of social media use in the public sector. Local governments generally have positive views of their social media use but the real application of social media is not consistent in each local government. This study tried to determine the reality of social media use in local government and what factors influenced its use. The research analyzed the data from a survey conducted by the Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute (KLID) in 2015 and data from Facebook in each local government. The results show that most local governments were using Facebook for promotional purposes and local government officials similarly recognized that they were using Facebook well. However, local governments showed great differences in their use and practical effect. Meanwhile, the study found that population, financial independence, level of government, the entity operating social media, the median age, and whether social media are used for interaction or to gather opinions were the most influential factors that make a difference in utilization in local government.
This paper analyzes the factors affecting the relationship characteristics of firms and public research institutes, in-addition to analyzing the effect of relationship characteristics with the industry-public research institute cooperation. We selected factors influencing relationship characteristics of firms and public research institutes based on the study of existing industry-university-institute cooperation. These factors include the willingness of the industry-public research institute cooperation, firm's R&D capabilities, and the firm's perceived public research institutes competence. The relationship between these factors, their relationship characteristics, and the performance of the industry-public research institute cooperation was studied using six hypotheses. In order to test this research model, we conducted a survey on industry-public research institute cooperation firms and received responses from 116 companies. Partial Least Square-Multi Group Analysis (PLS-MGA) was used to test the research model. The results of the empirical analysis show the following results. First, the willingness of the industry-public research institute cooperation, firm's R&D capabilities and firm's perceived public research institutes competence have a positive impact on the relationship characteristics of firms and public research institutes. Second, the relationship characteristics of firms and public research institutes have a positive impact on firm performance in the industry-public research institute cooperation. Third, firm's R&D capabilities and firm's perceived public research institutes competence directly affect firm performance in the industry-public research institute cooperation. These results provide policy and practical implications for enhancing firm performance of the industry-public research institute cooperation.

Lips have a defect in maintenance of moisture due to their thin layer. As aging progresses, lips lose volume and redness, and become wrinkled. Fat grafting and filler surgery have been used to achieve attractive lips, but little research has been reported to develop better materials to replace the present methods. Recently, a study suggests that the increase of adipocyte number can be enhancing the expansion endogenous fat. In previous study, we identified that the efficacy of Magnolia officinalis bark extract (MOBE) was effective on the induction of adipogenic differentiation. In this study, we confirmed that MOBE enhanced the differentiation of human adipose-derived stem cells on the fat mimic 3D structure built by 3D bioprinting method From further experiments in human, we established a method to quantify the severity of lip wrinkle by measurement of standard deviation of gray value using Image J software. Finally, we found that topical treatment with 1% MOBE formulated lip balm significantly improved the lip wrinkle after using for 12 weeks. In conclusion, these findings suggest that MOBE has great potential, as a cosmetic ingredient, to reduce the lip wrinkle through the effect of promoting adipogenic differentiation.
