Background: A new admission procedure was introduced to Korea when Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) program was first established in 2011. In the new procedure, applicants are reviewed based on quantitative qualifications, which include Pharmacy Education Eligibility Test (PEET) scores, Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) scores, and grade point average (GPA), as well as qualitative qualifications such as essay writing, extracurricular activities including volunteer experiences. Purpose: This study aimed to find relationships between entrance qualifications and academic performance of pharmacy students. Method: Entrance qualifications and academic performance of 164 first-year students were analyzed from 2011 to 2013 at Catholic University of Daegu. Other characteristics such as age and gender were also considered in the study. Results: Only GPA and TOEIC scores showed positive Pearson correlation with academic performance, while PEET scores did not. Conclusion: GPA and TOEIC scores could potentially have predictive validity for academic performance in pharmacy school. PEET scores, however, should simply be considered as pre-entrance qualifications, without predictive validity for academic performance.

한 국가의 미래는 인적 자원의 개발에 달려 있으며 정보영재는 중요한 인적자원이다. 영재교육진흥법 시행에 따라 영재 교육 체제의 정립을 위한 노력이 계속되고 있음에도 불구하고 영역별 특성에 맞는 정확한 판별 기준이 정립되어 있지 않다는 한계점이 제기되고 있다. 따라서 본 고에서는 이 한계를 극복하고자 초등정보영재 교육 대상자 선발을 위한 추천서를 31개 항목으로 나누어 분석하여 과학영재원 합격과의 상관관계를 통해 관찰 추천의 타당도에 대한 지표를 제공하고자 한다.

Objectives : To assess and compare the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment of depression in Cancer patient's Home Caregivers. Methods : Total 60 cases in Cancer patient's Home Caregivers, who fulfilled the study's eligibility criteria, were recruited and observed(N=40). The individuals were assigned into two groups, the Acupuncture group(N=20) and Control group(N=20). Changes in their Hamilton Depression rating Scale indices, were statistically compared before and after treatment in order to investigate the effectiveness of treatment. Results : 70% Home Caregivers were female and 30% were male, half of the Home Caregivers was patient's spouse or partner and employee. After 6 weeks, Acupuncture group seems to show reduction in the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale. On the other hand after 8 weeks Control group do not show reduction in the Hamilton Depression rating Scale. Conclusions : The results suggest that acupuncture treatment may provide short-term relief of depressive symptoms in Home Caregivers for Cancer patients. Findings from this non-randomized trial should be interpreted with caution.

Classical warranty plans require crisp data obtained from strictly controlled reliability tests. However, in a real situation these requirements might not be fulfilled. In an extreme case, the warranty claims data come from users whose reports are expressed in a vague way. Furthermore, there are special situations where several characteristics are used together as criteria for judging the warranty eligibility of a failed product. This paper suggests a fast reasoning model based on fuzzy logic to handle multi-attribute and vague warranty data.

Issuance of certification and licensing for toxicologists authorized by the Japanese Society of Thxicology (JST) became effective on July 24, 1997. The certification system consists of examination, eligibility requirements for the applicants, authorization/license by the board of trustees of JST, and the re-certification of previously authorized qualification. In the last 2-3 years, about 30-40% of candidates for the examination have succeeded. The Committee has estimated that the level of the examination would be sufficient to determine qualified toxicologists. This updated status and a detailed explanation are to be presented at the workshop. In global terms, the JST special committee agrees that "harmonization of certification/registration procedure for qualified toxicologists means to ensure/set the minimum requirement for the global authorization of qualified toxicologists". The following items in global authorization are ad-dressed for further discussion: (1) What's the benefit\ulcorner (2) Toxicological safety assessment standards, and (3) the JST position for authorization.orization.

This study proposed the introduction of the block grant in agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors so that the local governments get greater autonomy in agricultural policy. First of all, theoretical background on block grant was reviewed and present situation in Korea regarding block grant was examined. Four criteria were set to evaluate the eligibility for the block grant. Four criteria imply that block grant is more appropriate with small-scaled similar projects, high locality projects, easily evaluated projects, and easily formula-applied projects. Applying these criteria to the projects subsidized by the national government, appropriate projects as the block grant were selected. Finally, specific operation scheme of the block grant was proposed.

Defamation on the Internet is a criminal offense. Of late, the damage it has been causing has grown exponentially. Here, we suggest some ideas to expand the use of arbitration in Korea. We suggest that all disputes arising in connection with current contracts be settled under the rules of conciliation and arbitration. As a countermeasure to the requirements for defamation or damages, the field of criminal arbitration regulations needs to be defined strictly. In conclusion, the UK does not make provisions for arbitration as a specific subject. With respect to foreign legislation, it is necessary to take a look at ways to expand arbitration in our country. The scale of arbitration must be expanded to allow for greater protection of criminals in exchange for their cooperation in arbitration cases and relative to the amount of the damages in dollars. There must also be detailed instructions regarding the eligibility criteria for and proper handling of these arbitration cases.

This study aimed to understand the perception of pharmacy students (n=92) toward educational clerkship in community pharmaciese. The survey results showed that students perceived the need for clinical pharmacy practice-focused education. Students had a strict criterion for the eligibility of preceptors and a strong preference toward a large scale of hospital-nearby pharmacies for a practice site. Students with a previous training experience tended to hold negative opinions on the necessity of practice guidelines. To settle down community pharmacy practice system, students' needs and expectations should be considered.

This paper proposes a method or estimating lifetime distribution for products under two-dimensional warranty in which age and usage are used simultaneously to determine the eligibility of a warranty claim. For such a case, existing methods reduce the two-dimensional time stale to a single stale assuming that the two variables have a functional relationship. This assumption is, however, not appropriate since the functional relationship is unknown in practice. In this paper, the field age and usage data are modeled with a bivariate lifetime distribution. Method of obtaining maximum likelihood estimators is outlined, their asymptotic properties are studied and specific formulas for a bivariate Weibull distribution are obtained. The proposed model is compared with the existing one which assumes a lineal relationship between the two variables Simulation studios are performed to investigate the effect of the degree of dependency between the two variables.
