  • Insulation performance of major components of prefabricated joint such as epoxy insulation unit and premolded rubber cone are guaranteed by material selection design and proper manufacturing. On the other hand insulation performance of the interfaces between the premolded rubber cone and the epoxy insulation unit and the cable insulation is maintained by keeping the premolded rubber cone to close contact with such insulation by spring. Electric characteristics of a interface depend on the contact pressure, but the required characteristics are assured so far as a proper contact pressure is maintained. In this report, the interfacial pressure by pressure sensors both in the early stage and after heating cycle were measured and the simulation by FEM program were presented. The comparison of these two results show that interfacial pressure could be controlled optimally by changing the spring length and lubricant state of the interface.

  • XLPE is widely used as a main insulation in EHV power cables, deeply connected with thermal stress. In this study, the thermal history of XLPE insulation was examined using DSC(Differential Scanning Calorimetry). The principle is on the basis of the phenomenon that crystal in polyethylene is rearranged as it is annealed near/below the melting temperature. From the result, it was possible to define accurate temperature which was really applied on the XLPE insulation and this method was assured as a useful tool in characterization of thermal history in XLPE cable insulation.

  • Based on the real field test of 22.9kV HTS cable, which is installed in Gochang Power Testing Center located in Chonbuk Province, the standard for the performance test and the quality evaluation have been established. This work will be applied to the development of HTS cable and the purchase process as a practical material. In particular, new items for the cable evaluation such as the measurement of critical current and the heat loss, which was not dealt with in conventional cable, are specified in detail.

  • 초고압 케이블의 절연물질로 널리 사용되고 있는 가교 폴리에틸렌의 전기적 특성은 라멜라 결정 조직의 밀도와 라멜라 조직의 성장방향과 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 알려지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 반도전 물질에 2종의 첨가제를 이용하여 처방한 3종의 반도전 컴파운드에 대하여 시편 제작 조건에 따른 미세 조직을 제어하여 폴리에틸렌의 미세 조직을 변화시킴으로써, 라멜라 조직이 전기적 특성에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 전기적 특성은 AC 절연파괴 전압을 측정하였으며, 미세 조직 변화를 조사하기 위하여 TEM 이미지 분석 통하여 라멜라 밀도를 통계적으로 정성 분석하여 상관관계를 규명하였다.

  • Recently, 345kV XLPE Cable and Accessories have been developed and will be applied for Youngseo$\sim$Youngdeungpo project in Korea. So, let this project and the process of development introduce on this paper. The cable type and length of this project is 345kv XLPE 1C*$2000mm^2$ 66km and all cable will be pulled on cable tunnel. The diameter of cable insulation was designed as 27mm, we could reduce it by appling for hi-tech and super-clean system. Joints were developed by a pre-fabricated type which considered high safety and economic issues. We had also done Pre-Qualification test for verifying the reliance of cable and accessories before construction. As we developed this 345kV XLPE cable system including its accessories at the same time, we can have higher technologies and contribute safe power in transmission lines. In adtionally, we can have a stable status for suppling EHV cable systems to a variety foreign customers by ourselves.

  • It has been reported frequently that damage to underground electric power cable was brought about, due to attack by Insect such as termite (white-ant) and by rodent such as rat, in tropical and semitropical areas. Among these cable damages, we are likely to describe the damage to cable by termites as causing the severe trouble in cable operation and to solve this trouble with termite-proof method regarded as the most effective and economical one. This report covers our experiences of manufacturing the cable for anti-termite purpose and its intrinsic properties in cable operation.

  • In this study, We developed the optical fiber incorporated high-voltage underground power cable which is combined optical fibers with conventional high-voltage underground power cable. Optical-Unit that optical fiber is inserted in stainless tube is tested, and we got good results enough to safe optical fibers. Also we put the optical fiber incorporated high-voltage underground power cable to the test of electrical characteristics and optical characteristics, we knew that the electrical characteristics were the same characteristics as conventional high-voltage underground power cable and the transmission loss change was almost zero.
