  • This study aims to suggest the amendment method of publishing bulletins for election in accordance with the changed consciousness of voters and the environment of times after examining the expression strategies of a candidate's message through the analysis of publishing bulletins of local election in 2010. Accordingly, it tries to indicate the strategies of publishing bulletins for election more easily and briefly. As to the description of expression strategies, there were a lot of rational descriptions and positive appeals with the perspective of a third person. It shows the awareness that aggressive and negative expression brings about adverse effects. The appeals of the cover slogan in campaign promises were in the sequence of the candidate's character, regional development, and social welfare, and most campaign promises were within the range of ten promises. The most used symbol of candidates was the party which candidates belong to. The main empathized contents include the name of candidates, the experience of candidates, management, political ability, and region. In addition, slogans had the intention to express folksy and intimacy by raising the rates of residents' emergence.

  • Although a number of empirical studies found that political ideology plays a significant role in Korean elections, they entirely rely on cross-sectional data analysis. In contrast to previous research, this study investigates the effects of ideology in the 2012 Korean presidential election through standard panel data analysis. Specifically, using "EAI Panel Study, 2012", the effects of ideology on both candidate evaluation and vote choice were examined via fixed effects, random effects, and pooled regression analysis. And the results from applying the two most popular models of ideological voting, the proximity model and the directional change model were also compared. The results show that candidate evaluations and vote choice during the election (April, 2012- December, 2012) were significantly influenced by the ideological difference between voters and candidates, independent from partisanship and other standard socio-demographic factors. And this ideological voting during the election seems better captured by the directional change model than by the proximity model.

  • Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Jakarta's Ex-Governor, lost his re-election bid in 2017 and then was jailed on a charge of blasphemy. After his defeat, the rhetorics of Indonesian politics was divided into two opposing sides: anti-Communism and 'pribumi' of the radical Islamic movements and Pancasila of the Jokowi administration. Although Islamic political parties are now preoccupied with their own coalitional politics and survivals, rather than solidarity of Islamic forces, the rising Islamic sentiments confirmed by the Jakarta election indicate that religion will continue to be a key variable in Indonesian politics. Meanwhile, ex-military generals who declared themselves as candidates in the 2018 regional election and the 2019 presidential election, as well as a few measures used by the Jokowi administration against extra-parliamentary political opponents, remind us of Suharto's New Order. Steady growth continues in economy. The raise of minimum wage enlarged middle classes and led to a decline of the poverty rate. Jokowi's commitment to building infrastructure has made tangible achievements. Under these circumstances, enhanced cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea is laudable, though any such cooperation must fully incorporate local sociocultural contexts, such as the strengthened halal certification system.

  • Election is a fundamental problem in the distributed computing. We consider n nodes in the network with f maximum number of faulty links incident on each node, where $f{\le}{\llcorner}(n-1/2){\lrcorner}$. In general, electing a leader, finding the maximum identifier and constructing a spanning tree belong to the same class in the distributed computing because of the same order of the message complexity. Using a spanning tree, we prove that the lower bound of message complexity for a leader election algorithm in an asynchronous complete network with intermittent link faults is $O(n^3)$.

  • Rebar work takes up big proportion in a construction work. The current process of purchasing, cutting and election, and working of rebar induces a lot of loss in rebar. This study is focused on analyzing the problem and the present condition of the process from the calculating of rebar quantifies to the actual constructional stage through surveying those who have experience in the estimation department, or the construction site of a domestic construction company. Many reform measures such as diversification of standard(i.e., 8-meter)bar, calculation of rebar quantities and construction according to the rebar election drawing, expansion of accuracy in layout plan, thoroughness in examination of layout plan in advance, utilization of the worked material, systemization of rebar control(management), and a shift in attitude of the field(site) manager were proposed as the result of the survey.

  • Statistical models are proposed for analyzing categorical data in the presence of missing observations or nonresponses which might occur in the sampling surveys and polls. As an illustration, we analyzed real polling data of the pre-presidential election in the USA, 1948, It had been predicted that Dewey would win the election. However, Truman won in the actual election.

  • This study aims to probe for ideological construction within the linguistic structure of newspaper reporting. The study focuses on news reports relating the issue of new IOC chairman election in English version of four mainstream newspaper published in Korea: The Donga Daily News, The Jungang Daily News, The Chosun Daily News, and The Korea Times. The analysis of these reports adheres to the analytic paradigm of critical linguistic analysis and shows how the newspaper articulate conflicting ideological positions in their reports of new IOC chairman election. The analysis demonstrates how the event of new IOC chairman election is naturalized in racist accounts. This study is important for understanding the constructive nature of language practices. The study concludes with a discussion to explain the need for critical awareness in choosing right teaching material, considering that news reports are widely accepted as an authentic material for English education.

  • Researchers in sample surveys have long recognized that what people say they are going to and what they do are not always the same, to say the least. Naturally this inconsistency distorts the survey results, especially in election poll surveys in Korea. How can one cope with this measurement bias\ulcorner This paper suggests two ideas: election poll tree and using posterior probability. By using two ideas the inconsistency of the poll survey results could be improved much or less.

  • In 2008, Taiwan adopted a new mixed member system which is significantly different from the long-implemented SNTV-MMD system for the election of legislators. The new system cuts the number of legislative seats from 225 to 113, extends legislators' terms of office from three years to four, and most importantly, adopts a new mixed-member majoritarian (MMM) electoral system to replace the SNTV system for legislative elections. The election of legislators in 2008 was the first time that this new mixed electoral system was implemented in Taiwan. Mainstream literature continues to discuss the electoral impact on political parties and candidates by the new system while citizens' knowledge of the new system and its concomitant effects on citizens' behavior receive less attention. Worse still, almost all of the literature assumes that voters were fully aware of the operation and impact of the new electoral system and cast their ballots wisely. The purpose of this paper is to explore citizen's perceptions, participation and evaluation of this new system.
