The purpose of this study is to analyze the educational needs of the industry for engineering education using the engineering competency scale. For needs assessment, t-test, Borich Needs Assessment and the Locus for Focus(LFF) were conducted using 400 employees' answers of industry. The results of this analysis are as follows. First, there was a significant difference between the level of importance and actual level. Second, all items were ranked using the Borich's needs assessment formula. Third, as a result of LFF model, 19 items were placed in the highest priority HH section. Fourth, 17 items with the highest priority in engineering education were selected. Finally, the highest educational needs were 6 items related with interpersonal skills, 2 items related with leadership, and 9 items related with professional attitude and ability. Based on the results of this paper, it is necessary to develop and operate an education program to reduce the gap between the industry requirement and the current level of engineering students.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify registered nurses learning needs about physical assessment. Specifically, what are the perceived competency, frequency of skill use and the unmet training needs. Methods: The study was an exploratory survey study. The sample was 104 registered nurses. Data were collected through three instruments: The Perceived Competency in Physical Assessment Scale, the Frequency of Physical Assessment Scale, and the Training Needs of Physical Assessment Scale which incorporated 30 core Physical Assessment skills. Descriptive statistics, t-test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data. Results: Auscultation of heart and lung sounds and inspection of the spine were rated by the subjects as physical assessment skills they feel least competent and also were less frequently performed. The most competent area for physical assessment was neurological system. The respiratory and abdominal system was identified as two systems that more education would be needed. Nurses with less than one year of working experience reported needing more training. Nurses with more than five years of clinical work experience performed physical assessment more frequently than nurses with less than five year of work experience. The perceived competency was positively related to the frequency of physical assessment. Conclusion: Continuing education is necessary to further train registered nurses regarding physical assessment skills and the program needs to be focused on the area which nurses are less competent for and have high training need.

Since the discussion on solving some problems in modern socity began in the late 1990s, the interest in students' character education has increased. This study aims to identify the factors influencing educational needs assessment for character education in Korea. A self-administered survey was obtained from 318 students in a university. Three factors extracted from factor analysis were individual, interpersonal, social character factor. Results showed that the determinants influencing character educations are academic achievement and volunteer activities for individuals character, academic achievement and school activities in campus for interpersonal and social character educational factor. The findings should be of interest to practitioners to develop education programs for students.

This study aimed to identify curriculum gaps and a pilot study to provide the programs for selection during clerkship. Over the course of a clerkship, students analyze the current level and the needs level of TLO (terminal learning objectives) based on the book "Learning outcome of basic medical education: Scientific concept and principle-centered." We conducted a needs assessment utilizing a t-test, Borich Needs Assessment, and the Locus for Focus model. In the investigation of the needs level, the levels of the musculoskeletal and respiratory systems were relatively high and in the investigation of the current level, the levels of the digestive and musculoskeletal systems were relatively high. This study is expected to contribute to reasonable decision-making by utilizing various methods of analysis and providing in-depth results of needs analysis in designing clerkship curriculum.
This paper presents the status of nutrition education for older adults in Korea, and examines considerations in developing effective nutrition education programs for the elderly based on literature reviews. Finally, strategies of nutrition education for older adults in Korea are examined. Status of nutrition education were examined by surveying 90 senior centers, and 46 public health centers providing nutrition services. Most senior centers(96%) provided health education programs, however, nutrition was only a part of health programs. Among the 41 public health centers which responded to the survey, 73.1% provided nutrition education for older adults. The frequently covered topics were prevention & management of hypertension/stroke, diabetes, nutritional management during later adulthood, and osteoporosis. Common barriers in planning and implementing elderly education were; lack of educational materials for older adults, reliance on lectures, difficulty in following-up. To develop effective nutrition education, four stages consisting of needs assessment, planning and implementation of programs, and evaluation should be carefully done. Needs assessment might be done using quantitative or qualitative assessment. Factors influencing nutrition behavior of older adults can be systematically examined using a theoretical approach such as the PRECEDE-PROCEED framework. Qualitative methods, such as focus group interviews, also provide insightful information regarding the needs of older adults. In planning nutrition education programs, physical and pshychological changes associated with aging should be considered. Literature regarding elderly education suggest that active participation or participatory learning is also effective for older adults. Educational materials are developed following the principle of KISS and pre-tested. Program evaluation has been rarely done in practice, although it provides valuable feedback to the program. Strategies for developing nutrition education for Korean elderly include; performing needs assessment, developing a standard program by topics in a logical and systematic way, developing programs for subgroups of elderly, applying diverse education methods developing educational materials for the elderly, evaluating programs using simple tools, and delivering a nutrition program as a part of health promotion program. Finally, the interaction and communication between researchers and practitioners is strongly recommended to ensure better nutrition education and services to the elderly.
This study aimed to suggest the tasks to develop the Inclusive Education Model for Remote Islands by analyzing the characteristics of special needs education in remote islands of Okinawa, Japan and the current states of the implementation of special needs education in them. For these purposes, the survey using the Inclusive Education Assessment Tool (hereafter IEAT) was conducted to evaluate the special needs education system of remote islands of Okinawa and its results were analyzed through t-test. Finally, the tasks to develop the inclusive education model for remote islands by comparing and analyzing the results of this study with the tasks that were proposed in the Outcome Report on the Project to Build Inclusive Education System Model(2016) were suggested as follows: first, the expertise of special needs education should be guaranteed; second, the network among various professionals and organizations needs to be established; third, the awareness of disabilities needs to be promoted; fourth, the independence of students with disabilities needs to be improved; and finally equal opportunity should be guaranteed.
As the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution enters, the importance of software safety is increasing, but related systematic educational curriculum and trained professional engineers are insufficient. The purpose of this research is to propose the high priority elements for the software safety education program through needs analysis. For this purpose, 74 candidate elements of software safety education program were derived through contents analysis of literature and nominal group technique (NGT) process with five software safety professionals from various industries in South Korea. Targeting potential education participants including industrial workers and students, an on-line survey was conducted to measure the current and required level of each element. Using descriptive statistics, t-test, Borich needs assessment and Locus for focus model, 16 high priority elements were derived for software safety education program. Based on the results, suggestions were made to develop a more effective education program for software safety education.
Background and Purpose : Emergencies in the school setting occurs frequently. Therefore, the role of first responders is important. General teachers in elementary schools are expected by first responders in school emergencies. This study attempted to assess needs and demands assessment on the first aid education of general teachers in elementary schools. Method : The subjects of this study were 71 general teachers from 8 elementary schools. Data were collected by the questionnaire during the period from March 19 to April 13, 2007. The data were analyzed through frequency, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, Independent Two samples t-test, paired T-test, One Way ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation by SPSS win 12.0. Result : 1. It showed that 47.9%(34 persons) of general teachers answerd that they experienced emergencies in elementary school setting. Experienced emergencies were wounds(cut, laceration, abrasion etc.) 79.4%(27 persons), bleeding(including epistaxis) 64.7%(22 person), fracture(including dislocation, sprain) 44.1%(15 person), sting or bite 29.4%(10 persons). 2. It showed that 95.8%(68 persons) of subjects answerd that first aid education are necessary. Also 91.5%(65 persons) of subjects answerd that will be educated first aid if opportunities is given. 3. The total mean showed $2.39{\pm}.40$ in necessities of first aid education and $2.17{\pm}.36$ in needs of first aid education by 3 points Likert scale. Ranking 1 in necessities and needs of first aid education was bleeding control. 4. The total mean in necessities and needs of first aid education showed statistically significant differences(t = 3.453, p = .002). 5. The necessities of first aid education showed significant positive correlations with necessities and needs of first aid education(r = .521, p = .002). Conclusion : These results suggest that education program of first aid on elementary general teachers must be developed through necessities and needs assessment of first aid education and instructors must searched methods to increase needs of first aid.
This study has been attempted to measure health education needs-assessment of middle-aged women and to analyze the factors affecting health education needs-assessment. There were 618 subjects(middle-aged women, 40 to 59 years of age). The major findings of the study were as follows: 1. Seventy six point six percent of the respondents wanted health education. The remainder did not want health education because of the lack of the time. 2. For those desiring to receive health education, there was statistically significant difference in education(p〈0.001), income(p〈0.05), employment(p〈0.05), recreation(p〈0.001), knowledge on health(p〈0.001), routine medical check-ups(p〈0.01) and health education experience(p〈0.001). 3. Forty nine percent of the respondents wanted formal education as a way of education and 41.7% wanted life-long education center for the place of education. Sixty two point five percent of responded that ‘once a month’ is adequate for the health education, and 62.7% felt that ‘around one hour’ duration is appropriate. 4. The area the respondents were most interested in was disease control especially in the order of cancer and osteoporosis. 5. There was statistically significant difference between the age group of 40's and 50's in personal health care and environmental health area(p〈0.01), weight control area(p〈0.01), mental health and exercise area(p〈0.05), drinking and smoking area(p〈0.01). 6. The more knowledge on health, the higher health education needs-assessment. Middleaged women who received routine medical check-ups had more health education needs-assessments than those who didn't.

Purpose: This study used a descriptive investigative design to compare the educational needs and priorities of education-dedicated nurses and preceptors regarding clinical nurse educator competency. Methods: A survey was conducted from March to April 2023 with 308 participants, including 140 education-dedicated nurses and 168 preceptors. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired t-test with the IBM SPSS 26.0 program. For the purpose of analyzing educational needs, we further analyzed data through the Borich needs assessment and the locus for focus model. Results: Among the clinical nurse educator competency, both education-dedicated nurses and preceptors identified "new theory and practice" as the highest priority educational need. Additionally, education-dedicated nurses prioritized "teaching design ability," "teaching evaluation ability," and "evidence-based nursing/practice and research," while preceptors prioritized "clinical nursing knowledge" and "professional development ability" as their educational needs. Conclusion: While both education-dedicated nurses and preceptors responded that education is necessary for all the competency areas required of clinical nurse educators, variations were observed in their reported educational needs and priorities. Thus, it is imperative to develop and implement a differentiated education program for enhancing the competency of clinical nurse educators that considers the distinct requirements of education-dedicated nurses and preceptors.
